So we are huge fans. I'm not going to tell you how many beanies we own but I can tell you we are never going to be cold. Today went in and was assisted by Paola who helped me purchase a jacket for my brother and had it shipped for free to California. Then she made sure I got my points in their loyalty program. This store is compact compared to Gurnee and Portland but it's well stocked and clean just like the rest of them. While I give Paola a shout out- we've always been helped by friendly people. Bought a jacket yesterday for my brother in this store, we brought the jacket home and washed the jacket before letting my brother try it because of this COVID-19 situation and who knows how many people tried it on. Next day 12/16 iv decided it to EXCHANGE IT (not taking the money back) just for a different color. So I've was honest and i told them i washed the jacket because of this Covid19 situation and the cashier Victor refused to exchange it because its been washed, he claims that the jacket its not brand new anymore. He needs the jacket to be just the way i bought the jacket without washing it. I mean i was honest about it so I guess not being honest works the best. He also confirmed it with his store manager JONATHAN DIAZ that they wont be able to exchange it. I mean I can't believe they would just take clothes back like that, so imagine how many clothes is in there that have been worn for weeks or month and people would return it full of germs and they would put it back on the shelf and racks so next person can buy it. They told me they need the jacket back just like it was so they can put it back on the shelf. I couldn't believe it. As I was browsing around they asked multiple times if I needed help & went the extra mile to help look for exactly what I wanted. The store was clean and not one shirt was out of place. 2 staff members I want to point out exceeded their customer service. First time visiting a Carhartt company store and everyone there was very helpful in determining the best fit for me.

The guys at this store were extremely helpful in directing me to the Doc Marten's store across the street where I found everything I needed quickly, confidently, and for a good price. I came in looking for new work boots because mine are worn out. My husband loves his Carhartt boots and he needed new laces too, so I figured I would go there. The guys hardly acknowledged me walking into the store and they never asked what I was looking for or why I might be interested in one boot over another. They weren't busy and there was only one other customer in the store. I'm not sure if they even had any of their women's boots on display, but after spending a few minutes reading all the signage and picking the pair that I thought would best serve my needs I had to take it over to the counter, where the two workers were chatting with each other, to ask if they had it in my size. They said they don't carry men's boots that small, but I could try one size larger. Of course, it was too big and I asked if they carried it in a women's in my size. They said they did not have my size and I'll have to order it online. So I asked if they had other boots in women's in my size so I could get a sense of how they fit. They said they would fit like just like any other boot. I then asked if there was another Carhartt store in the city and they said the Gurnee store is the only other one in the state. It's a shame, the quality was always great, but I think their stores are catering too much to the trendy set, not so much people who need proper workwear. Anyway, I then asked if they had shoe laces, for my husband's boots and they directed me to the Doc Marten's store across the street. I was promptly greeted at Doc Marten's and the woman asked if I needed help finding anything. I told her I needed new work boots and she asked for detail about the work that I do and the level of performance I would need. She then showed me a few pairs and explained that two of them are comparable in function, but one fits wider than the other (even though they are the same size boot). I tried them both on and she was absolutely right, one fit me better than the other and I bought that pair. We also got laces for my husband. Now I need to find a new brand of work jeans. read more

When I entered the store, there were about 4 people at the entrance and I wasn't sure if all of them worked there or not but they all looked at me and continued with their conversation-- I wasn't even greeted. They're lucky I knew what I wanted since I wasn't even asked if I needed help or anything of the sort. At the checkout, the two people behind the counter were having a conversation as well and didn't stop talking to each other while the girl was ringing me out. I get it's Sunday but come on! Went on Sunday. I have never had people willing to to go to the basement as many times as they did. Climb the ladder as many times as I had them do it or order me stuff online. Top. Notch staff. Do people buy knit hats anywhere but Carhartt these days? I'm not in search of durable work pants, honestly. But I'd had my old Carhartt hat for years, and recently decided to replace it. My first time in this store, I was helped quickly and their displays and layout reflected my own (and presumably others') most common needs (i.e., knit hats). The store is only limited by its size. I wish they carried more of the luggage and bags available from their website -- my only other semi-regular purchase from the brand -- but this location does its job. It's well-kept, the employees are helpful, and they've got a great location. I'm sure I'll be by again, and even sooner were I to suddenly take up work in construction. read more

I strolled into this Carhartt in desperate need of pants, not as if I had a total blowout kind of emergency, but nonetheless my inner cathedral of desire pointed me the way towards this retailer of the rugged to purchase some leg protectors. I was greeted by two very hardworking and friendly employees. the place was spic and span, they really straightened the shit out of those clothing piles. I shopped in peace, which is something I very much like in a retailer, to know that someone is there for you but they have the respect to leave you alone to select a garment as intimate as a pair of pants. I felt no shame when reporting that I grossly underestimated the damage that the many beers I've had over the past few days have effected, rather expanded my waist (speaking of a total blowout). I easily found a pair of pants that fit like a glove, that is they would fit like a glove if my lower half was shaped by a hand. I was overwhelmed by the photographic mosaic covering the walls-images of men at work, really putting their back into it, images of mud and sweat. The imagery really reminded me, damnit, I work hard and I deserve to have some clothing that I can beat the devil out of while feeling comfortable. I also like an article of clothing that can protect me from the elements, the whole periodic table for that matter, all of the iron, methane I'm exposed to in a daily basis when riding the CTA. I felt so empowered as a hard working man that I picked up a 2 pack of comfort work socks. They have lady clothing also for hard working ladies. I'll be back to this location for another article of clothing to protect me from urban hazards. read more

Great shop in a fun part of Chicago! (Bucktown) I was there today just to take a look at some of their shirts, and I ended up buying a nice lightweight short sleeve shirt. It's easy to be a great store when you sell great products. I only visit this place about once every fall when I need new work clothes for the winter or if my work coat needs to be replaced (mine tend to last ~4 years). Never had an issue here.
