To whom it may concern, I bought a Ford 7.3 diesel motor from this auto recycler. As a long time auto recycler for 60 years .The motor I bought came in and the vendor had changed both valve covers. This engine possibly came out of a truck that had engine fire. Whoever installed the new valve cover gaskets had pinched the injector wires which created a short. The engine once started was missing on several cylinders. Upon diagnosis we discovered the problem and had to replace the valve cover gaskets. I sent a copy of the invoice to them for parts only without labor. They would not honor the repairs to keep their engine sold. I lost money on this sale. Auto recyclers stick together and we maintain a friendly and suitable work environment with well produced products; we take care of one another...I wasn't taken care of the way I should have been and ended up paying out of pocket. I run an automotive repair shop in concord N.C. , we needed a body control module for a car and they showed having according to the internet locator. Called there and spoke with Cathy who verified they had one that needed to be pulled, I gave the credit card info and was told it would be pulled and shipped. 2 weeks went by with no part so I called them back and talked to another female who answered the phone and was rude and combative to me. She said the part had not been pulled yet and could not give a valid answer as to why I hadn't received a follow-up call to tell me that there was a problem pulling/shipping the module or explain why . i ordered an engine. Put oil in it and started it up. It was tapping really loudly from the lifter. i pulled the valve cover to see if there was a bent pushrod or any other indication of the problem. I was amazed to see that the engine was FULL of sand. I literally scooped the sand out with a spoon while filming with my cell phone one day after the engine was delivered. there was enough sand in the valve covers to fill up a coffee mug half way on one side of the engine. i called and spoke with someone from CarGuts and they tried to say i sabotage the engine and put the sand in it. Why the hell would i want to do that? The only person that hurts is me! I requested another engine but they wanted me to wire transfer the full amount for the 2nd engine before they shipped the second one out. It got ugly. i can see how they might not know that sand was in an engine, but the customer service was unbelievable bad when presented with the problem. Terrible Terrible place... read more

I purchased a transmission for a 2005 Mercedes S600 from here and the transmission seems to be working fine once installed by a trusted mechanic. Cathy was very responsive and easy to work with. The complete transmission assembly price including shipping a few states over was among the lowest in the country. The only issue was that I was never provided with tracking. I've been in the bodyshop business at this location for 22 years. Our business is word of mouth and referral only. We're not in phone books nor a pro shop for any insurance company. Having a good working relationship with vendors and customers is super important to us. A couple of years ago, we placed an order for a fender for a Mercedes. We waited 4 days and no fender. It's okay, sometimes places get busy. We called and they promised it would be there the next day. The next day we never received it and they apologized again and guaranteed it would be there yet the next day. (which at this point was Monday) When the part didn't arrive on Monday, I was furious, I had a customer in a rental and really needed that fender. I called and asked what the hell was going on. Again I was apologized to and told I would receive it tomorrow. On Tuesday, they showed up to deliver the part. It was the WRONG SIDE. (smfh). I sent it back with the driver. I called and was told that because of my problems, they would make a special trip out here so I'd have my fender by Wednesday. Wednesday, the fender didn't show up (surprise, surprise). I decided enough was enough so I ordered one from another company. While I was waiting for the new fender to arrive, Carguts showed up on Thursday with the fender. IT WAS THE SAME &^#(^$ FENDER. THE IDIOTS SENT ME THE EXACT SAME FENDER. I couldn't take it anymore... even though at that point I was waiting for a fender from another company, I called Carguts to give them a piece of my mind. Not a good experience at all. Customer service was absolutely rude and when I asked why she was being so rude her response was i'm not being rude i'm just not a southerner. After being told that we would have to wait 2 weeks for a motor (not a problem completely understandable) I called to ask if motor was still being delivered on promised date and was quickly told "I don't know if I told you we would then I guess it will be I don't have enough mechanics to do everything around here." Well the delivery day came and left without the motor being delivered or anyone calling to inform us of what happened. The following day I called and was immediately put on hold (without asking my name, what company I was with, etc.) when the lady picked back up the phone her response was "we are working on it and will get it out today" very rudely might I add. My response was he this is Denise with..... her response before I could even get the name of our company out was "Yes I know and I just told you we are working on it!" I said ok please call me back. 5 hours pass and no call back so I call back for an update. She explained that it was put on the wrong truck and was sent to the wrong place, but that we should have on site that day. Ok that day passes still no motor.... Again the next day I call and they then state that they will have to get in touch with the shipping company, because it was never returned back to them and that they would call me back this is at 9 a.m. by 2 p.m. I have still not received a call so I call back.... Well lets just say they promised that we would have the motor the next day a new one 200 cheaper and it has been a week since the fourth promised date and we are still yet to see a motor, receive a phone call, or anything of that nature! We understand things happen in life but customer service goes a long way and being spoken to respectfully (as we spoke to them even during frustration) is something every individual deserves!
