Stay as far away from this group as you can. My 88 year-old mother lives in Heritage Hills, NY and goes to the practice downtown in Somers. She started with the CM in Mt. Kisco years ago when the practice was large but not unmanageable. This group, which just joined with Optum (whatever that is), is IMPOSSIBLE to work with. We call to make appointments and wait as long as 2 hours on hold only to be disconnected or we give up. Last week we tried calling Somers to request a medicine refill and held for more than 2 hours a number of times. I put the call on speakerphone and worked while I waited until I finally gave up and drove to the office to speak to someone in person. When I got there, the waiting room was empty and there were 2 receptionists sitting there to check people in. Who is answering the phone, I asked? I was irritated but not rude when I explained our problem with getting through to the office. The receptionist just looked at me blankly and said "they are short staffed". Bull!!! They also have a new online portal which is a piece of junk. Nobody ever responds and very few, if any 88 year-olds are computer savvy enough to work through a computer? Bottome line, Caremount/Optum is broken. Their doctors might be ok (if you can actually see one) but their infrastructure and processes are broken. When is healthcare going to be held accountable for their horrific service? Like the banks industry, this group, Caremount/Optum, is literally "too big to manage". All of mom's elderly neighbors go there because there is no alternative practice - they all complain about the same problems. Two neighbors said, "Everyone hates them (Caremount) but they are the only show in town". Well, not for us. We just changed to a new practice and the 25-minute drive to Ridgefield, Connecticut is a far better alternative to wasting hours on hold. We found a wonderful practice that not only answer the phone immediately but they had an appointment for my mom the next day. Heed my advice: RUN, don't walk, away from Caremount in Westchester county They are a nightmare and broken beyond repair. read more
