The doctors and nurses are great, but the billing department is utterly incompetent and infuriating. First, they are almost impossible to get in touch with -- interminable hold times, and although you can request a call back when it's your turn, they almost never call back. Then when you finally do get them on the phone, they say they'll take care of your problem but never follow through. I've spent *countless* hours over six months trying to get them to fix an incorrect bill, which they acknowledge is incorrect and keep promising to send a revised claim to my insurer but they NEVER follow through. I've had to spend countless hours on this over the past six months having the same conversation over and over again with them, to no avail. It's like Groundhog Day. The scheduling people in Crystal Fino's office SUCK. I schedule an appointment for 4:30, they call me to come in at 4 instead for X-rays. Totally cool with that. Then I get a call the day of my appointment to come in at either 1pm or 2pm because the doctor won't be there. I tell them to just put me in at 2pm. After waiting for over 2 months to see this provider, I was called by his secretary; believe it or not, at 12pm, 2 hours and 20 minutes before my appointment, only to have my appointment cancelled because he had a surgical procedure to perform. Then, I was told he wouldn't be available to reschedule until December. Why should I have to wait 4 months to see him? I should be accommodated for a sooner appointment after waiting for over 2 months to get an appointment, just to have it cancelled at the last minute. If a patient cancels an appointment less than 24 hours in advance, the patient is penalized with a $100 fee, but what happens when providers cancel scheduled appointments at the last minute? read more

Caremount has switched to Optum. Service is worse. Saw the Dr in Dec. cannot get records on patient portal. They say they are working on it. We needed my husbands blood work for the rheumatologist and they would not release it to us or the Dr. it was a wasted appt. Drs are only allowed to spend15 minutes with you. Level of care has dropped so significantly over the years. You can change the name but not the results. When I first went there in 1988? Felt they were not patient centric. It's gotten so much worse. Was attending the ophthalmology department and one dr impressed who did my cataract surgery. Going in with other issues, they wasted my time with countless visits. In August I went for a nagging problem I've had. The dr wanted to do surgery... I decided to visit another large group and discovered a whole different level of care. After a follow up the dr asked me to see a dermatologist and a day later I'm on antibiotics with a clear path to recovery. They are also heads and shoulders above in my eye pressure. I started going to this practice when it was still called Mt Kisco Medical Group. It was taken over by Caremount and that transition seemed to to be at best a minimal improvement in the care and ease of dealing with appointment and billing inquires. However, since the transition to Optum getting through to speak to anyone is almost impossible on the phone. The web site is unreliable and difficult to navigate. I have heard from some support staff that this is now a business establishment and less of a health care facility. They also stated a higher employee turnover. I wouldn't recommend anything to do with Optum, to anyone. I wouldn't take my dog here, and he's dead. I've read many of the comments here and they are all spot on. I NEVER post reviews on websites but I felt so compelled to do so now. Communication is terrible, hours of physician availability are a joke, wait time on the phone can be 45 minutes, no voice mail, no call back, canceling appointments when they have other more lucrative procedures come up within 24 hours, no more radiology results on the spot, continuous "consultations" as opposed providing solutions - "bill, bill, bill, get 'em in and get 'em out in 10 minutes or less." The place is a complete joke. What finally put me over the top (after about 6 or 7 consecutive issues when corresponding with them) was this. I have a heart issue and had a real concern recently.... I followed through to get to the cardiology department on the phone through pressing the proper numbers. And remember, this was cardiology, not general care.... I was on hold for almost 40 minutes - if there is a department that should have ample staff and pick up these calls quickly - it's cardiology. Looking to move my whole family (5 of us) to private care and will convince numerous families we are associated with to do so as well.... and soon. read more

Here is my most recent disappointment. The website heralds COVID and flu vaccines availability and locations. Turns out when you go, none are open, because they don't have the supplies. So you ask people there why does the site still encourage you to come in? They suggest the bad review here, because they have internally notified the management of the same issue. CalLing is pointless: the system is designed to thwart any actual help with there being no opportunity to actually speak to someone that has authority or ability to help. Also, in general the flood of providers that are leaving is draining all of the quality doctors, Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants away from the practice. They hate it also. My GP, that I have had for 25 years, is leaving to go teach. She would spend 45 minutes with me doing an annual, which she would always say she would be admonished about, as her time is closely tracked. This is all that is wrong with profit based businesses like this. Healthcare is something that can be optimized only so far. I'm sure management isn't suffering. read more

Called Optum, Yorktown to set up an appointment with a dermatologist. They asked me what was the reason for the visit and I explained 3 very small cysts (?) around the eye area. They set up the appointment with Ellie Nam who I found out later is not a doctor, she is a Physician Assistant. I believe that should have been disclosed to me when I called. I arrived to the office 10 minutes before the time scheduled, there was only one person in the waiting room who after a short time disappeared. After waiting for about 20 minutes I was asked to move to another waiting area on the same floor(nobody else there) ant I waited for around another 20 + minutes until I was called. Ellie Nam looked at me and told me what you have is Milia those are not cysts and I can not do anything for you. You have to see an esthetician. I had never heard of Milia. When I got home I googled "Milia" where they describe Milia as small cysts around the eye area and advise people with this condition to see a dermatologist. Optum sent a bill to my insurance company in the amount of $300.00 and send me a bill of $40.00. D'ONT YOU THINK THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR NOT SEEING A DOCTOR AND NOT GETTING TREATMENT FOR A CONDITION YOU NEEDED TO BE TREATED FOR? read more

Optum took a thriving, efficient, and competent practice and ran it into the ground in two years. It is a fraudulent patient mill now. While many excellent doctors have not left yet, the quality of care deteriorated dramatically due to the conditions imposed on the doctors. Very sad. read more

First, this the first yelp review I ever have written. We have been with this practice with prior owners (Mount Kisco Medical Group & Caremount). Since the new ownership of Optum (United Health Care), this has to be the worse service, communications, etc., I ever experienced. We love our doctors but the care model of the Optum is broken. Our doctor is leaving and I would never go there even if I was dying. The staff acknowledges your complaints and hate working there. In addition, my Health insurance from United Healthcare is also a bad experience. They only care about the profit they make. Optum has the funny and sad value statements: We are patient centric - I don't think they need to say that as it is a minimum expectation - they certainly do not uphold their own value. If you look at the 5 star ratings (only five), I believe 4 of 5 were prior to Optum taking over and the other rating was specific to a doctor. I will never go there again!!!!!! read more

I'm now on the phone for 2 hours trying to schedule an appointment for a urologist because of blood in the urine, pain, and infections. Seems like an emergency to me. I called their gastroenterology department today with a question, I was working from home, so I set the phone aside and distracted myself with work. An hour and a half went by and no one picked up. Optum is owned by the insurance giant United Healthcare. If anyone's ever wondered what could go wrong when an insurance mega-corporation starts buying up medical practices, the answer is right here - a nightmare. It's no secret that doctors are fleeing. It seems that Optum is limiting scheduling with primary care docs in order to drive patients to the more lucrative urgent care office. read more

What the hell happened to the medical practice that everyone wanted to use 30 years ago? It turned into nothing but a business. Patients are customers now. Care is substandard if it exists at all. You have 7 1/2 minutes of a doctor's time, if you're lucky. I had one whose feet didn't even stop moving from the time he entered the examining room until he left, dismissing the concern I had that brought me there in the first place without giving it a second look. I am NOT exaggerating. It was such a gut punch to be treated like a used tissue. And I had to pay for that experience. I cannot remember the last time I had a proper exam, where I was dressed in an exam gown and checked from head to toes. My last three "annual checkups" have consisted of nothing but being weighed and having my blood pressure taken, both while fully dressed. They rely only on blood tests to determine the state of your health. IT'S SO WRONG. Medical CARE. Remember that? I am one of those patients who has followed my doctors' advice. I take my meds. Don't make a big fuss. But when I have needed to speak with a doctor or a nurse or even tried to get an appointment as a patient who has been loyal and has relied on this place for over 25 years, I've been frustrated with a phone system that they haven't bothered to upgrade for decades; parking lots that cannot accommodate the rising number of patients they cram in at 7 1/2-minute intervals; overworked employees and practices that are woefully understaffed. You cannot even call it substandard care because it is NOT care at all. Facing the prospect of finding all new doctors at the age of 72 is daunting. Don't know if there are good medical practices any longer. It's sad and infuriating for all patients and their loved ones who truly care for them, feeling so vulnerable and underserved, all while doctors get huge quarterly "dividends" from the peripheral services -- imaging, labs, etc. Ironically, doctors hate it when patients look up symptoms and possible causes on the internet, but this place doesn't offer any alternatives when no one calls back or follows up or even does the basics that patients need. They used to worry about being sued for malpractice, but that no longer seems to be of concern. The less they do, the less they are exposed to malpractice, I guess. So do yourself a favor. If you've bothered to read this far, find somewhere else for your medical needs. Speak to your loved ones and friends and see if they know a decent place to receive care. No one should be undertreated the way Caremount's patients have been for many, many years. Oh, my previous experience with Optum was dealing with a woefully inept prescriptions-by-mail company that couldn't even get a simple prescription right, whose pharmacists barely spoke English as I tried to find out why I continually received only half the prescription my doctor ordered! Since OPTUM took over this practice the service has quickly and seriously deteriorated. -I have called and been left on hold for an hour only to be disconnected. -The new patient portal is onerous; not very user friendly. -Wait time for an appointment can be up to four months. -Getting a prescription renewed has taken seven days (still waiting) with two online requests and also a phone call. I have been a CareMount patient for 10 years and have been pleased with my doctors and medical care in general until this acquisition. I am reluctant to switch practices but I'm afraid I may ultimately have no choice. read more

It's impossible to get through to someone on their phones to schedule appointments. If you leave a request for a return call, no one calls you back. Furthermore, their on-line portal doesn't work. Can't make an appointment, send an e-mail or view your medical records there. I've been trying to schedule an annual visit with my Care Mount gynecologist for three-months. Can't get through. I drove over to their office to schedule my appointment, was told that they couldn't access her appointment book and was asked to schedule on line. Today, in an attempt to schedule my annual visit, I called her office and have been waiting on hold for one-hour and thirty-three minutes. No one's picked up! While I've been waiting, I signed up with another medical facility for my gynecological exam. I've been a patient at Care Mount for 20 years. My patience and loyalty has worn out. Edit: I got a very nice call from corporate. They were extremely apologetic and rescheduled my appointment. Mistakes happen and the tech who turned me away due to my 5 minute tardiness was "spoken to". So lets see what happens next week. But kudos for Optum for addressing the situation. Today I had an appointment at 2:30 with a Dr . I arrived at 2:35 due to construction traffic in front of the building which caused my tardiness. I admit I was 5 minutes late. At 2:45 the Dr's nurse came out to the waiting room to let me know that my appointment would not be taken because I was late. I asked her if she was kidding only to be told that she would try to squeeze me in and that I should wait and see. I waited until 3:30. No one came back out. I need this to be addressed by Optum. Is it a new policy that no appointments will be held for 5 minutes? read more

Caremount is consistently getting bad after bad reviews and 1 star ratings yet no changes to make their services better have been made. I sent 3 emails for a BP prescription renewals that will run out before my next physical annuals. 4 days later, no response. Luckily the pharmacist had a old prescription and able to fill. My last annual physical was 6 minutes (I timed). The staff I'm sure is overwhelmed and understaffed. Corporate gets rich and patients lose. read more

The worst possible medical management from the perspective of patients. I have an ob/gym for years who ended up turned over his practice to them. I saw him two months ago. I have a bad family history of breast cancer and I am over 65. I tried to call about 15 times to get a referral for a mammogram. I never got through. The voicemail tells you to press one and they will call you back. They never do. Their voicemail also tells you to use their website. The problem is that to login to the site you need a code. How are you supposed to get a code? By some fluke I finally got through today. I was told my doctor left the practice and there is nothing they can do. Really. I have a patient chart going back 15 years that has my family history of breast cancer and my age. I guess that even though it is an office of only ob/gyns nobody can give me that referral. I saw my doctor only two months ago and they told me to get another ob-gym. The only thing that will change them is when they have to pay a big malpractice award and they will. read more

Called in to my doctor at Caremount on Wednesday to ask if she would prescribe a lab test because I was having classic symptoms of an infection. After 20 minutes on hold, I opted for the "leave your number and we will call you back promptly" option. I have received no call-back to date. It's Saturday. I will be going to urgent care tomorrow but prefer to have the specialist who is tuned into my situation oversee things. This isn't the first experience of this type I have had with Caremount. Updating my previous review. After speaking to upper management various times after my last review I am pleased to say I went into the Brewster location for an MRI. The experience was perfect. Just got mail from CMS with a copy of a notice they sent to Optum in which they denied the preventive medicine counseling CPT99401 for the visit as not covered by Medicare. The correspondence states that the patient is responsible for the $193.00 for the fifteen minutes service. So that gives Optum or Caremount the green light to collect after having gone thru all the necessary steps to get the money from me. It's laughable since, if you read my original comment the doctor spent less time than that for the whole visit. Anyway, it's just another way for Optum to cover their butts with Medicare before they bill me. Google Caremount and one of the first things that pop up is that they are being looked into my NYS Attorney General for everything from billing to shoddy cancelling of visits. Also note that there was a mass exodus of doctors not too long ago and if you try to reach those that left by calling Optum the response is that they don't know. Even googling the doctors comes up with nothing. My guess is they left and were hamstrung by a non disclosure or non competing clause. How is it that doctor's who appeared on tv commercials for Northern Westchester Hospital for their innovative surgeries have now disappeared from the planet? Somewhere in the universe karma is going to catch up to Scott Goldin and his cabal and it can't come soon enough for all of the people unfortunate enough to deal with Caremount, Optum et al. read more

If I could give OPTUM a zero, I would. Since OPTUM took over Caremount, formerly Mount Kisco Medical Group, all aspects of service have severely deteriorated. It is a rare occasion that anyone answers the phone when you call. If they do answer and you are in need of someone to call you back, that will never happen. I recently went for a Mammography and learned that six of the radiologists had quit. As a result, I would now receive an email with my results instead of personally meeting with the radiologist to review, like when they were MKMG. The email I received had no details, awful. Just rubber stamp my test and bill my insurance company! I immediately requested my medical records so I could transfer my care. They clearly are only profit driven and have abandoned caring for patients. They are grossly understaffed and it shows in every aspect of patient service. The doctors and staff still care despite the conditions, but with such willfully profit driven mismanagement, a visit to the doctor is a nightmare. I have been with MKMG and Caremount for 20 years, I am a nurse for 47 years and have decided to be done with OPTUM, a SOULLESS corporation; instead my family has moved onto other entities who actually care about their patients.
