This is one where I can truly say that if I could give them Zero stars, I would have. This is not the first time we have had to call after hours to talk with a nurse covering, and this time waited almost two hours for the call. Unlike our previous pediatrician's office, Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine in Scarsdale, NY, where a callback never took more than 30 mins (even on a holiday) we have never reached a doctor after hours. What good is it to have so many doctors/partners, yet none of them ever cover after hours calls? We love our daughter's doctor, and will discuss this with her, but the discussion will likely be to ask her to contact us when she decides to leave MKMG, now Caremount.
Ever wonder why they really renamed the practice? Yelp review for MKMG seem to average about 1.5 stars; Caremount has no reviews. IMHO, they are trying to run from some poor ratings. Of course, most who reviewed MKMG love their doctor, but not the service hey receive from other employees of MKMG. In general, though, the personnel working for the pediatrics practice are all quite nice, patient, and a pleasure to deal with. My issue is with after hours call backs. Of course, I have also noticed that they have also begun to tack on an additional $50 charge when seeing a doctor after hours, on weekends and on holidays. I was shocked, though, to see a $50 after-hours charge for a second visit of the day: I took my daughter to the pediatric walk-in at Bedford Hills Bypass in the morning, where she was prescribed antibiotics. Later that afternoon, she was vomiting and had a fever, so I took her to 10 S Bedford Rd, after calling for an appointment, and was told to come in at 5:30 PM. I just noticed that they are charging an additional $50 for the 5:30 PM appointment. I plan to report this to our insurance company, we well as NYS DOF (formerly the NYS Insurance Dept) for an investigation into their billing practices.
Ironically, the doctors are likely oblivious to these practices. More likely than not, they have people with advanced degrees like an Master of Public Administration, who try to figure out ways to beat the system and increase billing.
In the morning I will call our previous pediatrician at Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine, and will either begin to take my daughter back there (approximately a 30 min drive) or ask them for a referral to a local pediatrician with the same work ethic they have. There is no comparison, knowing that one practice has doctors returning after hours calls versus another practice that has only Nurse Practitioners returning calls.
Think twice before you choose to make a physician at MKMG / Caremount your chosen physician. read more
