Again, I would get a call the day before to remind me and see if I needed anything outside of the ordinary. Everyone was friendly and professional, and made things go quite smoothly.

I was having severe side effects from IVIG, including chest pain, trouble breathing, high BP and losing consciousness. The nurses tried their best to advocate for me to lower my rate, but pharmacy would not allow them to do so, and kept pushing for them to maintain the rate that was causing these side effects. Pharmacy would continue to coerce me to continue, saying that I would lose access to IVIG entirely if I didn't. At one point nurses wanted me to stop completely and call 911, that is how bad my side effects were. Pharmacy would not allow them to stop and said they must continue at that rate, despite symptoms that put me at risk of stroke or heart attack. I later come to find out that the rate I was on is not normal for new patients to IVIG, and that this rate is normally reserved for patients who have been on IVIG for years and developed tolerance. I now suffer with severe and constant migraines as well as chronic hypertension as a result of this, and will suffer from these symptoms permanently as a result of their carelessness and selfishness. They simply wanted me on a higher rate so they could save money, as a faster rate means nurses are not paid to be at my house as long. And because of this selfishness I am now permanently disabled by migraines and hypertension. I also spent the summer I was on IVIG with Kabafusion in and out of the hospital, I was in the ER 3 times and they still refused to lower the rate that I was clearly not tolerating

Same front desk lady took my info down and said she would send it over to Amanda. Not sure why she wouldn't just forward my phone call to Amanda specifically. Home Instead is all phone based and not email and that is their flaw. That is why I could never get in touch with them. Complete Private Home Care sent out various people to handle everything we needed, carefully following his Primary Care Physician's list. This included an initial consult with Sue and then Danielle the nurse in charge of all the other aides and therapists. I know their names because I had to use them again after my father ended up in the hospital again this time with pneumonia. I didn't have much experience with home health workers when I hired Complete Home Health. However because of my age (mid 50s) I have had too much experience with my friend's parent's aides and assisted living situations. Also I had to oversee aides in Texas for my grandparents. So while I had not personally hired but one aide before (freelance--without an agency--also a friend's recommendation) I do feel able to award those five stars. What sets them apart? First they are very professional. I think perhaps because they are a smaller company, they are on top of each of their clients. They always knew who I was, and who my dad was and which workers were involved in his care. The co-ordinator Jon has a handle on all the clients. Next, the Administrative nurse has a great list of caregivers she can call upon. My father had problems swallowing and was prone to inhalation pneumonia, the therapists helped him learn strategies for eating. Physical therapists taught him to get him up walking again, home assessors came for safety. Further, they took a huge load from my shoulders by communicating with my father's Primary Care Physician at Harvard, so I did not need to still be in charge of all that on top of all the rest I was in charge of. Finally, all the people were loving and I never worried someone would steal from us or hurt my dad. They demonstrated far more patience than frankly, I had left in me. They suggested intelligent solutions to home problems such as different pill containers, cutting back shrubs for ease on stairs, removing certain roll around chairs, etc. They responded Immediately, and were able to be at the house within 4 hours of suddenly learning he was being released from rehab. When I was forced to hire them for out of pocket 24 hour care, they were able to make this far more affordable by charging for blocks of hours. Because we had installed 2 Drop-cams we could see that the 24 hour aides were never more than 20 feet away. This is a fabulous company. Hire them and feel safe. If you are like me, you need it.

For an affluent town the facility is majorly outdated. In some of the rooms 4 patients share one…read moresmall bathroom which is poor for infection control especially when 'they' are on precautions for urinary and/or bowel infections. There is very little "regular" staff. On a normal day it is hard to find an available CNA to answer call lights due to short staffing. I have seen multiple family members complain about their loved one's call light on for 1/2 hour - 45 mins. If you are a nurse at shift change expect to wait over a half hour for the next nurse to come on. I have come across nurses who have been banned from other facilities from putting patients' in harm/giving the wrong meds. Seems the ones they keep are bottom of the barrel. You can expect to find agency nurses on every shift so the continuum of care is lacking. I have seen poor wound care, dressings not changed for days or not in place as should be. Upper management are quite snotty especially the administrator Heather Demma. Her main objective of the day seems to be to walk around the building and treat the people taking care of the residents like inferiors. There is no friendly greeting, just snapping of the med cart or treatment cart lock even if you're standing beside it. You will never hear a "thank you" come out of her mouth. It's no wonder they cannot keep regular staff. If she can be so vile to the people working under her imagine her true character. Don't be fooled by the show she puts on. All they really care about is filling up the beds! $$$

I finally contacted my insurance company, who did cover the repairs minus my deductible. They also tried contacting VNA Care, even sent a registered letter but got no response. The professionals who came were pleasant but didn't really do much besides vitals and were quick to discharge. What kind of business doesn't stand up to responsibility? Definitely would not recommend them! I am out a significant amount of money because they won't respond and cover my deductible.
