Surprisingly it's pretty normal,going to the dentist during COVID was a major concern for me. I'm happy to report VFD is doing an amazing job keeping everyone healthy and safe. They have limited seating in the waiting area, mask are required. Both the dentist and hygienist wear both a mask and a face shield and there is hand sanitizer everywhere! Dr. Tart and her assistant were wonderful. I used Nitrous Oxide and barely felt the injections. I had very little discomfort when the numbing medicine wore off. Dr. Tart's office called me that afternoon to make sure I was okay and not having any pain. Dr. Tart is very understanding and so kind. I recently moved to this area and I am so thrilled to have found such a great dentist. I won't have to find ways any longer to avoid my dental appointments.

I was given an estimate and I provided my credit card info and was told it would only be charged for work that might not be covered by my plan and that I would be refunded after claims were paid by Carefirst. I was in great pain at the time and signed their form for work to commence. The end result was Apex charged me over $500 what Carefirst allows for in their contract and Apex was acting out of network contract with the excessive charges. I contested fully with Apex but was not given the refund promised. So I warn anybody using Carefirst insurance. Find somebody else or you may pay a lot more than you should. I will never go back.

They were able to fit me in the same day. Unfortunately, I had to be referred to a surgeon to get the tooth removed. On the bright side, Dr. Greer was very nice and knowledgeable. She took the time to explain to me what was going on and she gave me medication to ease the pain until I could get in with the surgeon. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. The office is small but very clean. If you are in the Varina area, I will definitely recommend you give them a try for a real personal experience.
