The doctors here are knowledgeable, the staff is the reason for the poor review…read more There have been many issues over the years with this office but what happened today was ridiculous. There is limited parking this office provides to patients, on arrival all of those spaces were taken. There was no street parking and so I parked behind the building where there was more than enough space. Moments later I was asked to move because it's for staff only. THERE ISN'T THAT MANY PEOPLE WHO WORK HERE. There were still 6 spaces open for staff to park and this was at 2PM and the office closing time was at 5PM. Everyone should be at work by then if not getting ready to go home, but maybe they have a night shift I can't say. If you know, as a company, your location offers limited parking, why schedule so many patients at one time? Customer service goes a long way. Total time parked for appointment was 17 minutes. The equipment was old/dated. The office, dirty and run down. No private rooms for HIPPA compliance. The dentist was extremely forceful with my son. I have never in my life heard him scream and cry like that before. The dentist just says they all cry like that. Just hold him down. I left, I didn't agree with his care, or treatment recommendations. We went elsewhere, where the dentist didn't hurt my child. Be wary of this practice.

I was told she cried and complained that I wasn't compassionate towards her feelings. The professor she cornered me and told me to more compassion towards her student. This appointment turned out to be some kind of therapy session it felt more like someone being a predator and trying to persuade me to think their way and not what I needed as a patient. I was very uncomfortable in this small office and being criticized for asking questions about my care plan. I realized these are students in process however they need to learn how to communicate with people and take criticism and correction better. I don't think they are teaching these students that it's more to just taking care of teeth but it's also making the patient feel confident that they can get the job done.

The initial intake process is a bit, Ngl. There's paperwork, lines, and a waiting room that fits about 40 people to match 2 intake assistants and up to 5 payments assistants. The first appointment will need both intake and payment since they prefer payment upfront, though I do like that further appointments are paid with possible payment plans. The dental student assigned to your case will have a fully licensed dentist overseeing their work though they don't hover, just double check your/their progress. There might be a bit of walking and back and forth if you need imaging, just based on the layout of the school. The atmosphere of the school itself is one that fosters wisdom and questions which I love since how else does anyone learn? The student helping me hadn't had the opportunity to use the imagine machine before (or maybe just not [often] enough to remember) but other students were about to assist. Overall, I'm sure the experience will depend a little on the student that helps. Mine is excellent, and I'm sure that's the case for the majority of students. The dentists overseeing things are friendly and helpful without being condescending. Would definitely recommend. The only reason for a star off is the length of time it may take. Not the students' fault, as this is a school where they're learning, but it did take a while.

I've been very fortunate to land a feeding slot quicker than I expected for my little man. We met with one of their nurses for the second part of the evaluation and explained what they were doing for each test. Not only that but she answered all questions that we had. Afterward, they told us that we were going to get contacted on the next available feeding therapist and their available schedule. I'm not going to lie, I was a devasted that we were not going to schedule that moment at the hospital but was completely shocked at how fast the turnaround time was when they contacted me (that afternoon) of the next available time slot we could initially start our feeding therapy sessions. The first week of Jan 2020! Since then, we have been assigned to one feeding therapist and she has been FANTASTIC! We meet with her one a weekly bases and it has been another helpful and informative therapy session added onto my son's list of therapy sessions. They really are great at their job and I cannot thank them enough for helping me and families facing these struggles. My son has only gone through 3 sessions and he has improved so much in his chewing abilities. This program was through the VCU feeding program and sent us over to this location for their feeding program. For the short amount of sessions, I've brought my little one to already, I am so thankful for this program. Keep up the awesome work!!! Oh and the front desk guys (actually ladies) that we've encountered have been freaking awesome as well. I really enjoy and appreciate the positive attitude that they have for us who have came to this location early in the morning and later afternoon. Thank you!
