My husband and I thought we would see if there were any tours available and there was nothing scheduled. Basically when you arrive some one will immediately take you on Tour which was nice. Tour Guide was very lovely and was very knowledgeable. I fell inlove with the ornate plaster moldings and medallions. The Oval Staircase is 1 of 2 in the US and is an amazing experience to go down from the top! 99% of all the Gorgeous Antiques are not original to the house owners, but are Extremely Fine rare pieces found in Museums and high end Galleries. Ward Hall is privately run and is in great need of donations for its Upkeep. It's still one of the Most Beautiful Mansions I've ever visited and I highly recommend touring. Although it is closed to traffic, you can access this by foot to take in all the historical feeling it exudes. While it did have a lot of graffiti, I'm glad I checked it out and gave my dog a different scenery to explore. If you're a history buff, it's worth detouring here because it's quite unusual to see a relic like this elsewhere. It's secluded enough to offer privacy yet inviting enough for the public to check out. Although my visit was short, it certainly was worthwhile.

The Switzer Covered Bridge is the official state covered bridge of Kentucky. The bridge formerly carried Kentucky route 1262 across North Elkhorn Creek. It is a 120 foot long Howe truss design and was replaced by a concrete bridge that now carries the traffic. A few folks were here enjoying the slow moving creek as a watering hole and swimming spot. There are some picnic tables and it's a nice shady spot away from too many people. If you have any climbing, repelling, spelunking, or exploring experience, this is a "walk in the park" for you. No experience is needed and they take care of everything. This greenway trail seems like what I've been looking for. Lexington is notable for having a…read morerelative lack of urban sprawl, with zoning laws ensuring that much of the city is surrounded by rolling hills covered with farms. The outskirts of the city are very pretty to drive through, but you can't really do much as the farms are privately owned and there isn't much in the way of parks or trails. Enter this paved pathway, which runs from the city proper out to the horse center. It seems geared towards bikers, which I am not, but there was certainly space for pedestrians and I saw a few others. I visited a section that ran by some university-owned test farms, and got a treat with nice views, ample songbirds, and peace and quiet. I did get mobbed by some sort of fly as it got dark; though it did not seem to be of any biting or stinging variety you definitely want to consider repellent, along with something for pollen allergies and some sunscreen. The entire length of the trail is farther than I could walk on one night, but I suspect it will be well worth exploring, as this is exactly the sort of thing Lexington needs.

We also met Hall of Fame, Lava Man. Over $150 equine athletes in the facility. I will return someday soon to do the Founders Tour!!
