They do these tests to get the FULL picture of your oral care; and with these results they can determine the health of not only your teeth and gum but of other factors attributed to certain heart diseases and cancers. My insurance covered about 80% of the costs of these tests; so I guess it's to each their own insurer. As quite a few people do, I have a well founded fear of dentistry. Growing up I had to go, because my mom made me do it; but when that dentist had passed on (really nice guy, just didn't like the sharp pointy objects he poked me with), I didn't go searching for another doctor for nearly five years. In comes that fact that although I fear dentists, the idea of losing my teeth scares me quite a bit more! My mother would gladly tell me at every moment she got that I had her "new car" in my mouth. I got braces when I was in junior school, and the end result was about thirteen grand; so I cheerfully developed a fear of destroying this "brand new car". I live close to Bloor West, so my husband and I decided to try out Dr. Joe (the hubby had never went to a dentist before, but had decided it was time to start!) Anyway, believe it or not, I don't fear dentists anymore thanks to Dr. Joe specifically. He has a way with keeping his clients calm without the use of drugs (until needed); he has talked me through numerous checkups/consults and even a root canal. Mind you the sharp pointy objects are still poking, but the surprise factor is gone; you're not left guessing and stressing about whether his next move is going to hurt. And surprisingly enough, just knowing "You're about to feel a pinch, is that okay?" removes so much pain from lack of anxiety. These days, when they say, "Let me know if you feel any pain" I usually think, "Pfft! Bring it on!" And I've been going to his office now every three months for checkups. They also have a great method of distraction too; every checkup/cleaning room is installed with a flat panel monitor in the ceiling, so you can catch up with the news or HGTV while they're cleaning your teeth. X-Raying your teeth doesn't cost as much as at some other locations either, because they use digital photography to get an inside look at your teeth and gum. The price for costly film is now redundant, since the pictures are computer generated. Just The Other Day... My last visit was a few days ago and I almost nearly didn't make it! We have construction going on our house, and my timing just got all bungled up. I doubt this could have happened every time, but they were willing to push back my appointment *twice* that day until our "house guests" finally left. I even got a little goody bag too, which kinda made me laugh and feel all of eight years old again. It came with a toothbrush, dental floss, toothpaste and *lip balm*. I usually come home with the toothbrush and floss, but the added paste and balm was a nice treat! Let's Talk Money Dr. Joe's office is a little more pricey than what our insurance wants to pay; by the time we get a check back, we're about $15 out of pocket on average for these check-ups. Which on a side note, their receptionist does all the insurance work for you, so you don't have to worry about filling out the forms properly. We normally get our money back within five days of the check-up.

He will do what is best for your teeth, and keep you informed along the way. He is smart, thoughtful, compassionate, friendly and extremely detail oriented and professional. He has a fun and funny rapport with his team, who are nothing but delightful. His office will communicate via email which is wonderful, and sometime it will be Dr. Hao who follows up himself if he's checking on a particularly difficult tooth or recent surgery. His office has gone above and beyond to help me out when I have been in an emergency situation, I know they've stayed late or missed lunch hours for patients before. I've had many other dentists in the city, but this one is by far the best. I highly recommend Dr. Hao and the team at 720 Dental.

Kingwest Dental does not care for nervous patients with care. They refuse to re-do my nightguard (one of the reasons I switch dentists was to get the 3D tech for the nightguard production) as it does not fit. They don't care, they already got their money. My teeth hurt. My coverage is only for one nightguard (obviously) and they wont help. The last cleaning I had the woman gouged me and also put the blood and plaque on my shirt and in my hair and was pretty mean and rude to me. I felt afraid halfway through and my neck was hurting so I asked for a rest. She typed on the computer with the same gloves she was using to go into my mouth. It made me feel sick. Finally, I'll say that I specifically noted that I need female clinicians (i'm a survivor of violence, which I shared in confidence) and they didn't respect that .I guess they found it amusing to see me panicked as the male dentist came to check in on me on my second visit. I gave them one more chance after that and that is when I got butchered and covered in gunk. Super nasty. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately, I also feel pushed to get certain procedures done. I had 6 cavities done over 5 years at Bite, but last year they told me that the cavities had to be refilled. I went to another dentist and those cavities were not an issue. The last straw for me was when they mixed up my dental appointments twice and I had to call to confirm my appointment date. I appreciate reminders, but getting dates mixed up seem to be a subtle way to recall me more frequently. I feel bad for Bite because it used to be an amazing clinic with dentists and hygienists, but the high turnover and business operations pushed me to go with another dentistry.

He Pulled the nerve for me, which was an inexpensive fix and I went back to college to find the cash for my root canal. Saved my molar when others wanted to just extract it! Fillings, root canals and caps! He is a caring , thoughtful and gentle doctor. And I'm lucky to have found him . They even have parking round back! "Best experience ever" Dr. Tom Manh Nguyen: This is no exaggeration nor is it a joke…read more I have hated going to the dentist for as long as I can remember. The trauma was such as a child that my mother would never tell me when we were going to the dentist. However, when we turned that corner and realization struck of our destination all hell would break loose. I would scream all the way to the dentist, in the dentist office, on the dentist chair and all during the appointment until we left and I was sure we were not going back. My phobia for the dentist did not improve through the years and my reluctance impeded my ability to do preventative oral care. I visited the dentist only when I had no other alternatives. Hence my visit with Dr. Nguyen on September 8, 2017, I. Had. No. Choice. I developed an infection in a broken root canal. The infection further advanced into a fistula and erupted draining into my mouth. To say I was in pain doesn't cover the half of it. The teeth had to be extracted, it could not be saved. Dr. Dang another fabulous dentist who did my initial exam referred me to Dr. Nguyen. Dr. Tom Manh Nguyen was fantastic. Number one, he listened while I blah blah about being terrified. He took the time to explain the procedure step by step. He told me what to expect in terms of discomfort. I elected to use laughing gas (nitrous oxide gas) and forgo Anesthesia which was too expensive. Dr. Nguyen went so far as to explain what the laughing gas will do, how it would feel. The only thing i felt was a slight pressure from the needle into the gum after that nothing. I know he was working on my mouth because i was conscious and could hear everything. He would reassure me periodically, "you are doing fine," "you are doing a good job," and will ask intermittently how I was doing. When he was finished I was surprised. I asked incredulously, "you're done?" He smiled and says, "Yes, I am all done." To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I sat through that whole procedure without a peep. I was able to get up with no pain and take myself home on the subway! Am I singing Dr. Nguyen praises, hell yeah! He did a fantastic job. Most doctors don't realize that outside of their procedures how they handle the patient is everything. You go in scared out of your mind and it does a world of good when you encounter a doctor that can reach you on that human level and let you know you will be alright. So if you have a phobia like I did and scared spit-less like I was then get a referral to Dr. Nguyen at Bloor Dufferin Dental on 1108 Bloor West, he'll take good care of you. Love Dr B and all the staff!…read more First found this practice when I had a dental emergency - his was the first local practice that managed to fit me in same day, and I couldn't be more thrilled to have stumbled upon them. Doesn't have all the (unnecessary) bells and whistles you sometimes see (eg tvs, noise cancelling headphones, etc)...just a super skilled dentist, great hygienist, and extra lovely support staff. Also: I pay out of pocket and the receptionist always provides me w an estimate before any work is done, just to make sure I know what I'm in for. Prices are perfectly reasonable, but dentistry is expensive, and appreciate that extra bit of consideration on their end!

I moved to Toronto two years ago and started coming to Harbord Dentistry since it was nearby my apartment and reviewed well and I have no regrets! My old dentist used very traditional methods and never really communicated with me as to what was happening with my dental hygiene or what steps I could take to make improvements on it - it was in the door and out as fast as possible and the barrier of communication caused my dental hygiene to suffer over the years. Dr. Baradaran and his team however are some of the friendliest people I have ever met! They schedule appointments to be longer than needed which means Dr. B has plenty of face to face time with you and can answer questions or fill you in on what's happening with your mouth and his team have given me advice on how to improve my hygiene routine. Additionally the hygenists are incredibly patient and are very accommodating with my gag problem and always make sure I am comfortable above all else. Whenever they need to do something they will tell me ahead of time and not only let me know what procedure they're doing but also why they're doing it and what it will do to help my mouth. It truly was a night and day experience coming here after my old dentist and it has helped me see just how much difference there is between traditional and modern dentistry. I'm definitely going to continue coming here as long as I'm living in the GTA.

It is a modern and nicely decorated clinic. This clinic has 2-3 dentists. My dentist only works here every Tue since he works on Steeles Ave W the rest of the days. They have a knowledgeable receptionist. My dentist charges reasonable prices (some clinics charge extra). He doesn't do unnecessary dental work. He uses a dental assistant during his dental work. Before the pandemic, the waiting room had enough seating for 4 people. They also gave out free lip balm and green apples. Since the pandemic, there are only 2 chairs, the waiting room is almost barren, and there are no free handouts. The receptionist desk has plexiglass all around it, and there is hand sanitizer on the counter. During pandemic times, you are asked a few questions a few days before the appointment, then you have to answer the same questions when you arrive for the appointment and sign a waiver. You must wear a face mask the entire time until you sit in the dental chair. During pandemic times, there is a heavy duty HEPA filter air cleaner in the waiting room, and in each dental room. After each patient, all their masks and gowns are thrown out and the room closed with newly installed plexiglass doors. The room is emptied for a few mins while the HEPA filter air cleaner cleans the entire room of any lingering droplets. The rules are that if you don't have such an air cleaner, you cannot use the room for 3 hours. So it is cheaper to but an industrial quality air cleaner. The dentist wears a N95 mask and a face shield. Unfortunately it means his voice volume is at 50% of his normal volume. There is free WiFi. Each patient room also has a 32" Sony TV installed above you so you can watch it during dental work. The handle dental insurance claims. You still have to pay first but the submit the claim for you (some people may delay submitting the claim).

For minor cavities, she always suggested to monitor instead of doing filling right away (not like a lot other dentists who are money driven). Her reason was every time you did filling you would lose an extra part of your own tooth. She tried hard to help you extend the lifespan of your teeth as much as possible. The front desk lady, Floor, was also nice and warm. The only reason I did not give a five star was because this place put an extra charge of fluoride treatment on your dental cleaning claim form and a lot of insurance companies did not cover it. All the previous dentist's places I've been to just simply included this service in the three units of scaling.
