I rented a folding bike for 16 days. Pick up place in Cagliari at Carbustec. I have received the bike and we have assembled it briefly - everything OK. But since I was not allowed to park, I missed a test drive. So I quickly loaded the bike into the car and drove off. When I used the bike for the first time I noticed that the rear brakes touched the wheel. Since they are still old rubber blocks (by the way already pretty worn down), you can mostly pull the brake shoes a little apart and then it should work. But the screws were already so packed that I couldn't do anything without tools. Well, I thought, then I just have to kick a bit more. But the next thing that didn't work were gears 1 and 2. The chain didn't stay on the sprocket but always fell out, so that the gear or gears weren't usable. I had to press the gear lever so that the 1st and 2nd gear were halfway usable. But as soon as you put more power on the pedal, it was again impossible to ride the bike. The higher gears only worked when shifting up. When shifting down these were also problematic. Driving downhill was also dangerous, because the rear brake touched the wheel but did not work as a brake. I.e. when pressing the brake nothing moved. In short: I dragged along a bicycle for 16 days, which I could never use, except for the 2 attempts to ride with it. Since I was on the way on entire Sardinia, I could not go quickly to the company and make an exchange.... Then I wrote to Bim Bim Bikes. They were friendly but said that they are only intermediary platform. I wanted my money back or at least a part of it. Of course without any chance. One spoke with the carbustec owner and he said he had tested the bicycle before the rental. That is simply not true. If he had tested it seriously, he would have noticed the serious defects. So my conclusion: I am very disappointed and cannot recommend it to anyone. It was definitely not worth it. Too bad, because it would have been nicer to cover smaller distances by bike. read more
