At first I didn't think I needed a Day Coordinator and I almost messed up big time by not booking her services. There were mishaps that happened the day of my wedding but I didn't deal with any of them. She took care of it all and even went to bat for me when a vendor messed up big time. I am so thankful for her and Jake. Speaking of Jake, he killed it with the music. I had a very particular vibe we wanted and the selection of music was going through eras as the night progressed. He pulled it off flawlessly. If you're reading this and debating on them over others just pull the trigger with these two. You will be glad you did when all is said and done.

I was originally only looking for a DJ at the time when I found Jake and Jenn and I can honestly say I couldn't have done it without either of them! Jenn is so sweet, smart, and very responsive! She was so organized and was there for me anytime I needed. They were both able to travel from Redding to Chico at an affordable cost. When it came down to the day of they were both timely and so friendly I felt like they were two of my friends at the wedding! Their whole setup is extremely professional and Jenn was literally prepared for every scenario before I even knew I needed something. You NEED easy events for your wedding! Thank me later

After finding **A Planned Affair**, my mother-in-law was able to meet with Marlene since we live out of town. From the very beginning, Marlene was incredibly helpful and offered us several different options. She had the **perfect chairs** we had been searching for! Marlene's customer service was truly top-notch. She communicated effectively, made sure everything was clearly understood, and was extremely helpful throughout the entire process. Since we were coordinating our wedding from out of town, she made everything so easy, especially arranging the pickup and drop-off. We truly appreciate Marlene and all of her help in making this part of our wedding planning so stress-free. **We highly recommend A Planned Affair** to anyone looking for quality rentals and excellent customer service. Thank you, Marlene, for helping bring our vision to life!

Despite being paid in full, communication and follow-through were a major concern. Multiple vendors contacted us directly with wedding-related questions because they had still not been contacted by the coordinator, even this close to the wedding. Meetings were disorganized, and one scheduled meeting was nearly canceled when we were notified just 10 minutes beforehand that it had been forgotten. We also had to create our own wedding-day timeline, and instead of feeling that the bride's wishes were being prioritized, we frequently heard what would be easier or more comfortable for the coordinator. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, and hiring a coordinator should relieve that stress--not add to it. We ultimately lost confidence that the services we contracted and paid for would be provided. I'm sharing our experience so other couples can make an informed decision when choosing someone for such an important day.

I had gone to a wedding show in Redding with my in-laws, and saw Gwen's booth. It was beautiful! Gwen and I chatted on the phone, and I was terribly afraid of the cost of a wedding planner. I know that in the Bay Area, they are ridiculously priced. So I told Gwen that I would be more comfortable just doing "day of" coordination. And she said "i really prefer to work with my brides from day one. I will do that anyway." and she gave me her price.. I almost choked. It was so affordable! And she was on EVERYTHING. Emailing me updates with all of my vendors, finding me vendors that I couldn't get to, just truly gave me sanity during such a crazy time. My wedding day was so smooth. Gwen was on top of everything. At no point did I get stressed out that anything was going wrong because I trusted that Gwen had handled it all. She has such a creative and aesthetic eye. I knew that once the wedding was over, I would miss working with Gwen. Gwen, thank you so much for making my big day so spectacular. All of my guests told me that my wedding looked and felt like a million bucks even though we were very price conscious!

She made me feel comfortable and I was excited to work with her right off the bat! We shared personal stories of our wedding desires (she recently got married too) so it was nice to grow an extra bond together. She hooked me up and included her own table decorations and signage for the wedding so that was great to have an extra responsibility taken off my plate! I hired her for day-of coordination. She showed up with her husband, and I really liked being around the two of them! I barely had to spend any time explaining anything, she just took control over everything and made everything come to life! I'd say "made my vision come to life" but I never even really had a vision to begin with. She was able to just decorate everything beautifully and manage the chaos so I didn't have to lift a finger! Exactly what I wanted!! I stressed with alllll the pre-planning leading up to the day so that on the actual day, I could just be told when and where to be. Poor girl had to run back and forth a bunch (the ceremony was an 8 min walk to the reception/cocktail hour area) so that meant that not everything could run so smoothly/perfect but hey, what do I care? I showed up when I showed up (eek, late, *not her fault), and everything was just as I was told it would be: everyone seated, facing away from me, and ready for me to walk the aisle. My adorable ring bearer dog was also being looked over before it was her turn to prance on over with our rings around her neck. I don't think I saw Katie or Josh much at all throughout the whole day but everything looked so beautiful and even though the timeline got pushed back, I still got to enjoy everything I wanted out of my day. Thank you Katie and Josh!!!

So now I am doing what I can to warn any future brides to STAY AWAY. It's really upsetting that a few days after my wedding in the moments I'm thinking about how poorly she did her job. She has not replied now for a few days so I feel as if my only recourse is to save other brides the headache of hiring her. She offered to go to the rental company to show us the furniture we can rent The time came and went with no text or email from Katie. My confidence was very low at this point, but the next time we went in for a tasting with Josh, she was there and profusely apologized. I included this because it speaks to her inability to manage her communication and timing and juggle multiple events. (She said she was very busy with another event at the time). When we met with Josh, she would take notes.  She shared a VERY rough draft of the timeline.  There were words spelled wrong, missing details, and mixed-up information, which is worrying for a bride who expects her coordinator to keep the wedding day on track. I brushed it off and amended the errors or made comments for her to fix them. She told me her work should not begin till one month out from the wedding, so there was no point in sharing a messy timeline early. However, I do think a wedding coordinator should know to spell "ring bearer" and not "bairer" Katie helped me connect with a rental company. She did connect me with an AMAZING florist too. Rehearsal dinner came, she did come in with candles and table clothes and make everything look really nice. She told me to not worry about picking up the rehearsal dinner that her and her team would do it. She picked a great placement for our couples table. When my mom and mother in law gave venue feedback, I would expect a coordinator to be cordial, instead she told dismissively told them "It's fine", she could've said "I'll make sure the bride and groom are happy with the layout." I agreed with the feedback from my mom and mother in law so I told her to make the changes. Things really fell apart the DAY OF shes...our DAY OF COORDINATOR. She made little snack boards for the bridal party. If she had done a survey prior to the wedding, that was NOT the most important task to be focused on.She told the groomsmen to meet her in the saloon, she never showed up, the photgrapher put on their boutonnieres.  Our photographer had to dry and hand out bouquets because Katie was MIA. I realized I could not go outside to line up or I would see my groom, so I stayed in the cottage with my dad. I left my bouquet and I realize this is my fault. At the aisle I hear my mom say "bouquet!" Katie no where in sight, my photographer had to miss photo moments to run and get it. Later when I saw Katie I said 'I can't believe I walked without my bouquet. And she said, "I know I was doing a whiskey shot and DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE". WHISKEY SHOT?? WHY IS SHE DRINKING ON THE JOB. There were so many moments where I was saying "Where is Katie???" I feel like after I walk down the aisle she was constantly MIA. My guests said they saw her inside taking photos of it and posting on snapchat. I, as the bride, should be celebrating, but instead I am constantly remembering moments in timeline we were not hitting, especially before the photographer leaves, including LICENSE SIGNING, CAKE CUTTING, BOUQUET DEDICATION. When I confronted Katie about this after the wedding, she said we were behind schedule. If DAY OF she had asked me, I would have said let's go straight into cake cutting from here instead of opening up dancing. She never even told me that we were behind schedule or gave me a chance to pivot. This is because she was literally MIA. When we went to cut cake, we could not find her, my photographer had to go run and find her. Also, speaking of cake, you should have had me send you a photo of a cake beforehand instead of just saying, "I asked her if there was supposed to be something else". She did not usher ppl outside for the cutting and both our immediate families missed it entirely. A lot of guests had left already too. Where Katie lacked, my bridesmaids and my photographer had to make up for. My bridesmaids did say your assistant was nice and helpful and completing tasks that they delegated. She had cleanup on the schedule the night of our wedding. If/when you have clean up on the schedule, you should remind the couple you have not been hired to do any cleanup and they would probably pay you an extra money to do that for them. We are obviously not going to be cleaning up the night of our wedding so there's no reason to have it on the schedule really. The package we selected said "take-down of bridal provided decor" and none of my provided decor was taken down. When I messaged Katie, all she did was defend herself, and did not address drinking on the job.
