Stay far, far away. Do not contact this company. I am a pretty balanced person, but dealing with them is causing a fair bit of stress and heartache.
This is the voicemail message I just received from an agent, "Hey Sana, this Pat Iannino from Carana Properties. I tried calling [my place of work] to get a hold of you. They have no record of you. They have no idea who you are. So I will give this number to Homeland Security because I think you are doing something illegal. Very good. Call me. Call me if you have a problem. [States his number]"
Of course, I have saved the audio file just in case.
So what could I have possibly done to get such treatment?
I contacted Carana Properties because my husband saw a rental sign on a nice property in the Pilsen area. It wasn't available, but Pat offered to show another property that suited our tastes. Some friends, though, had many safety concerns about that particular block and told us to look elsewhere. I informed Pat of my concern, and so he sent an email with several other properties for my husband and I to look into. A few of them looked promising. So far, so good, right?
The holidays came upon us. Lots of family gatherings. And, unfortunately, a family emergency amidst one of them too. I've been out of state longer than planned, and have completely forgotten to cancel several appointments and meetings I had back home. I've been trying to catch up with emails, texts, phone calls, etc... This is a text message I received from Pat: "I know you did not see the apt you should have called the agent to tell her That was rude of you [sic]"
Naturally, I'd like to contact Pat to apologize for the missed appointment and inform him of my situation. But his behavior shows me that he's not a reasonable or logical person (or deserving of an apology). Who contacts Homeland Security because of a missed appointment?! Or, at least, threatens to do so? The only information I gave Carana properties was my name, email, cell phone number, and workplace. I never authorized any form of screening (i.e. employment verification) because I never completed an application or signed any document. In addition, I never provided valid identification that's required to confirm identify prior to any type of screening. By calling my employer for verification of employment, Pat did something illegal.
So I'm left in a position where I feel the need to protect myself from threats. Do not make the mistake of using their services because you'll end up feeling like me, bullied. read more
