I made an appointment last week to get a remote start installed today. I asked how long it would take and I was told 3 hours tops. It ended up being 4 1/2, and I had to call them to receive an update status on how much longer it would take after 3 1/2 hours. I never got a call, but ended up going up there after 4 1/2 hours and asking if it was done since I had to be at work within the next 30 mins. The guy in the front says yes we literally just got done with it. I asked why it almost took 5 hours when I was told when booking my appointment that it would be 3 hours tops. He replied they were busy and had a lot to do, I'm just wondering why make an appointment if you aren't going to make it a priority. Then he had the nerve to say that he didn't realize I was in a time crunch. So then I felt the need to let him know that's why people make appointments and my time is money. Now a day later the part that I paid $50 extra for isn't unlocking my car like it's supposed to and my remote start shut off after 20 mins of me not being able to leave work right on time. So I'll finish up this review after I go check on that. Update I have to bring my car back in on Monday because there is something wrong with the wiring and he told me it would be another 2-3 hours. Unless you have a ton of money and time to waste I would suggest going to your car dealership or sound Innovations. This business isn't looking for customer satisfaction just another way to make money. read more

Went in for a remote wire instal, they immediately started telling me how much work that would be... how they'd have to remove my entire Dashboard and get behind my speedometer they told me approximately be around $300 and four hours of work, I knew that wasn't right. I went down to sound innovations they took 15 minutes and charge me $38 so tell me Car toys are your people grossly incompetent or were you actively trying to scam me? Which one is it?? read more

I went in today, Friday April 11 at 2pm, to get a price on speakers for my Honda civic. I *thought* the rear one was blown (it was making that crackly buzzing sound). I had just been to Best Buy where (after being ignored twice) they were quick to just make the sale. The nice guy at Car Toyz wanted to go out and listen to the speaker, which I thought was a good idea. After listening for a bit he removed a piece of paper that had been laying on the speaker. Surprisingly to me, the "blown speaker" noise subsided. Granted, I felt like a prize idiot, but the guy just smiled (I know he was trying not to laugh, I would have laughed). He of course still offered to sell me speakers if I wanted them, but said mine sounded fine. THAT is true professionalism and great business practice. Even though I luckily did not need speakers today, I WILL be back to Car Toyz when I am ready to purchase new ones. I will also be telling everyone I know that this is the place to go for honest employees and fair prices (since I did look at prices before he offered to look at my current speaker). I don't trust these guys! My son has been working with a couple of issues over the past several weeks. First he had some cosmetic steering wheel buttons they said they would fix for $70. But they only repaired about half of them. He was lead to believe they would fix all the buttons. So I was a little disappointed. But I let it go because I thought well maybe my son misunderstood. While the car was in the shop with that issue they noticed the cruise control wasn't working. So they said they could fix it for $70. Again, to get that issue fixed for $70 would be great to get it done. But that didn't fix the problem. Later they said they would order another part for cruise control and said it cost another $70. But they said that it wouldn't cost anymore than that and they would install for free. He had it fixed this morning... They charged him another $20 when he picked up the car! It's like a pitcher throwing fastballs higher and higher until the batter strikes out chasing a pitch out of the strike zone. Im embarrassed for swinging! :) My son says they attendant was a smart aleck and intimidating and made him feel uncomfortable. They will never get my business again. Forewarned! read more

Worst experience ever. After reading the previous posts, I believe that the sales guy is the same "Arabian looking" manager. He recommended a backup camera which was promised to be "very clear" and it turned out the connection of camera and monitor was super weak. He started to sell other overpriced cameras which would replace my whole audio system. I refused to take the camera which did not match what was described at all. The manager was still charging $100 install fee. After I declined that, he lost temper immediately and started CURSING. To protect myself, I called 911. When the officers came, he stopped and gave my car back. I was so upset about how rude the manager was, and, several days later, decided to let them take back another product purchased within a week. The same manager said that he did not honor the store policy and called the police to ban me from re-entering the store. Again, the manager YELLED and CURSED me out with very DIRTY and RUDE words, and the only thing I said to this manager was "wrap up whatever you said and give it back to yourself and your own family". After the officers came to store again, I was informed that it was a civil issue and civil issues needed to be solved via the court even the manager did not honor their policy. So... in summary: This is the first time I came across any store employee cursing customers out. The local "manager" was severely immature, and I would avoid this store. read more

got sub woofer and they installed my system and it stop working i took it back and they didn't have it in the computer. so they wanted to charged me again. i drive a white convertible ss camaro. you remember my car! by far the worst customer service ever i will never ever return. i honestly feel they did it on purpose to make me come back! wow! read more

Wonderful experience. These guys know their stuff when it comes to car stereo equipment and car alarm systems. I've been a studio musician for many years, mostly in the past at this point. Still, I like my tunes in my car to sound right. I don't want to spend a fortune like I used to do when I was a kid, either. The other day I noticed some air flutters coming out of the stock 2003 Buick Century I was driving. Blown speaker was my only conclusion. I went to Car Toyz and began the process. I was fully prepared for upsale and headaches but was pleasantly surprised when the manager was super mellow; more than willing to listen to MY needs and requirements (I mean, it's a 12 year old car). He steered me in the direction I needed and the rest was up to me. No pressure at all and all the time I needed/wanted to select what I was needing. I started off with just a pair of the singular blown front speaker. The replacements I selected, along with the assistance of manager Matt were installed as I waited (in a comfortable space area, complete with a HD tv and many channels to occupy my time) and in less than one hour, I was out there and my tunes were back only far more better than ever. In fact, I returned two days later and went through the same process, getting assistance only when I asked for it; no hustle; laid back sales help when needed; as I looked for speakers for the rear deck of this Buick which had 12 year old stock speakers in it. I ended up replacing all the speakers and for a beyond fair price, including installation which comes with a LIFETIME install warranty and full warranty support for the products from Car Toyz. For Lawrence, this place is the only place to go. I drew the line at purchasing a remote starter, which they both sell and install. And Car Toyz also has some very most excellent high end sound and video equipment if you're in that market place. They've got the new console modules complete with rear camera for back up purposes as well as in car DvD systems. This place is not into upselling, either. If you have no idea what you want or need, no problem. They'll help you discover for yourself what you want. All told, it's a good deal all the way around. Just do it. read more

the aggressive sales guy made me feel like a fool. he wouldn't let me take a picture of the box the speakers I was interested in came in so I could compare their technical details to other speakers. weeirrd. I don't like it when people try to pressure me into making decisions, especially when it involves my money. but he was informative and their stock is very nice, top of the line. These guys are clueless. The remote start cost nearly $750 when all said and done. took 3 trips and 12 hours. They clearly didn't know what they were doing. It cost me work time as well which = $. replaces amp lights that with some adhesive strip that fell off after a couple days. Would not refund my money again. Again it took them another 3 hours to figure that out. I was supposed to receive another light strip, and it never showed up. The Arab guy lied again. Another strip in the bed of the truck is also falling off. Also the cellular link isn't working anymore. said he could install lights in back with a switch by tailgate. Again he was wrong. had to put the switch in cab. I wouldn't of had it done had that been the case. Do yourself a favor.................stay far away from Car Toys and especially the Lawrence car toys. They don't know wtf they are doing and dont stand behind their work. Lie to get you to buy. Worst buying experience ever. I am sending this to the BBB and attorney general. I want a complete refund of my $1000 After alll the above this happened.The lights on drivers side have quit working as well. The lights in the bed are also falling off. These guys omfg... Everything these guys touched, they screwed up. Everything. Update: It gets worse. The light strips are shorting something out. I have 2 new giant deep cells, so it takes alot to drain them. Went to leave on a trip and its dead. light strips being ripped out must be the issue. I'm taking this to corporate car toys. read more

Horrible place. Make sure you have the take the time to review the entire installation before you give them a dime. Dropped my vehicle off when they opened to give them as much time as necessary to install a new radio. The dash came back misaligned, an air bag warning light is now on, was not before. They did try to claim the light was on when I brought the vehicle in. It wasn't and I have a great reference for the vehicle recently had the oil changed at the dealership, who too would have noticed. Sent me to a friends garage to have the light "reset". Friend was great, hooked up the computer, but light is still on. Now all I want is the radio removed and my money back. Not sure what they have done to my vehicle, will likely have to take to a dealership to ensure safety systems check out and have not been compromised! read more
