For the record,I hate writing this...I went into the Overton ridge location this morning, to ask about a couple small issues I'm having with a radio they installed just incase they had seen the problem before, And to look at getting speakers installed. I realized that I didn't recognize anyone from my previous installs. the store looked dirty/dusty/smudgy glass, cables in showroom hanging. the staff seemed unmotivated; had to remind one tech twice to see if my radio needed an update, before he told me he couldn't find if it did or not. the guy (maybe manager or sales?) that I was talking about speakers with wanted to show me this $800 pair first that honestly didn't sound that great. After listening to him ramble "mostly true BS" I decided to tell him I really wanted the alpine's (that I had been debating and researching for 6 months) he gave me an install price with warranty* for $900+ , I asked him "ok so what if I just wanted to buy the speakers and install them myself, he said $390. ($500 for a simple install). And let's go back to the * warranty part. When I asked about the couple small issues the tech and sales guy were quick to say that they may not honor the old install warranty.... The last lead or master tech there installed a $2400 Kenwood excelaron GPS head unit and done a beautiful job! He also installed a $4,000 sound dampening in my entire (floor,doors,and roof)suv interior in a weekend!!! And I haven't needed to use any warranty... to wrap up this review- -the store is dirty and unorganized. -the products they have available are slim and mostly older versions. -staff not motivated, or don't actually know what they are talking about. -the business itself seemed slower than usual(and it's even tax season). -the sales guy taking me to the most expensive pair of speakers they had then trying to quote me $900+ for a much cheaper set. Giving 5 stars because they need it, but let's get to the point. I came in Saturday for a simple sub and amp install. They were booked, but Chris said, "Come tomorrow, we'll hook it up." Cool. I show up 15 mins after opening Sunday, and it takes him 2 HOURS just to get to me because he's bouncing around helping others and 'waiting on a call back' from another store. I finally check out and drop my car off at 12:50. They say 2-3 hours. I call at 5:00 -- Chris says "6:00-6:30 tops." I show up at 6:30 -- he says "Give it 45 more mins." Okay. THEN he calls saying they couldn't do it because there was "too much stuff" in the backseat to run the wire. Brother. Running wire is step one. They had my car all day and were just starting ? Lied about the timing the whole day. I even offered to clear the backseat and he still said nah, "too late." I told them up front at the beginning of all of this I needed this done by Sunday, I travel for work Monday. But what really gets me? Wasting my only other day off and time with family for no reason. Walked into the Citiview location looking to buy a new stereo and a pair of dashboard and rear view cameras. When I walked in the place was empty but for a couple of guys chatting. Didn't see any employees available. I walked into the different sections and saw all the different stereos that were for sale. I was hoping to catch a salesperson as I had a ton of questions. When I left the last little room I saw a salesperson shooting the bull with one of the guys from previously. I walked around in hopes that he would finish talking and see what I needed. Well, that didn't happen. He ignored me and kept on chatting with this other fellow. He wasn't putting goods into a bag or ringing up a sale, he was just shooting the shit. Complete scam. I watched them try and scam multiple customers before I got to the counter. Same game plain every time. They would provide a low quote then start adding more as the conversation went on. My initial quote of $150 was finally quoted at $932 at the end. I have taken two vehicles to get a quote for an updated car stereo in both of them. I want to upgrade to a new units with Bluetooth, GPS etc. Granted the cars are 20 years old, but the interface cable is needed and quoted a $350 for one car and $450 for the other. The new stereo price was $299. The interface cable is needed so the colors match upon install. As they say in football, after further review, the exact same cable is $9.99 on Amazon, or if you order form Crutchfield online, the interface cable is free when you buy a stereo from them............. Got my windows tinted technician did a good job, however while waiting I shopped for a marine radio and speakers ( on display) the person behind the counter walked over and saw the display and took down info to get a transfer from another store. At no time did the employee state it was radio only and not as presented on the display. I paid for the stereo and was told I would be contacted when it came in, no call. I called Car Toys after I felt it should have arrived and was told it was in. Upon picking it up ot was only the radio no speakers as shown in the display. Miscommunication is an understatement, if your in the business of stereos you should know what your selling. Think twice about doing business with this location, employees are not knowledgeable about the products their selling. What else? read more

I would give Andres 10 stars if I could.... I showed up around noon and am leaving town tomorrow. He did an amazing job installing my floating stereo and the dash kit he installed is FLAWLESS! I had a very tight timeline and he promised to have it done by 4:45 so I could get my kids, he was done 30 minutes early and this is all while being pulled off my truck probably a good 6-7 times to help with others. Cartoys originally sounded great, after i bought everything they said they would cover the install but they overpriced there wires so i bought them off amazon! I then preinstalled most of them because i had the time then they told me they wouldn't install anwhy of the new stuff because it wasn't there material, they won't do anything for my car and have told me to pick it up after i bought all the speakers/ subwoofers/ amps/ and head units from them. In the past, we had DVD player installed in our Sienna. We had two of our vehicles wiring for light bars. The price was reasonable; it was about $150 each vehicle. Recently we bought a remote start for our Tacoma at this location. I installed led light bar and fog lights on my Tacoma and all I needed was wiring job. I came to this place and the guy with a grey shirt asked me what he could help? I said I needed wiring work to my light bar and fog lights. They were already installed on the truck, I told him. The man said it would cost me $400. My jaw dropped and I knew he tried to ripped me off. I told him that they charged me $150 for just wiring. Then he said it would take 4 hrs to complete and $100 per hour. Really? I left and I did wiring myself and took me about an hour and saved $400. The reason I wanted them to do it because I did not have time. I ended up doing myself. I would NOT recommend this place and be careful about the verbal quote. read more

The first time they installed it pointing directly at the ground so you can't see anything at all and nobody bothered to check it before returning the car to me. The second time they installed it pointing way over to the right so the guide lines are way off and of course nobody bothered to test it AGAIN before returning the car to me. Fort Worth Location: Went in for an alarm system for my Kia I just bought. Had called in earlier in week to verify they had it in stock which they did. Sales guy greeted me at door and told him what I needed. He then went to get installer to verify everything. "Install manager" came out and said new Kia's can't use the analog alarms so need to spend more then twice price on a different unit. Didn't feel right but I agreed and sales guy mentioned I'd get 20% off tint if did tint also. I agree to tint at 20% off the $299 price listed and stated by sales guy. Once we go to counter the manager gets involved who had a terrible attitude from the start and no customer service mentality at all. He gives me a price of $1150. I ask how that's possible and this starts a 35 minute wait of him staring at computer, going in back room with door closed for 10 mins, etc. I explain the math simply dosnt add up which he informs me the sales guy should have never stated any prices because the online prices are just to get you into the door, not the actual price. He also tried to say $299 tint didn't include the price of the film. I've had more cars then I can count tinted and that was a first. I was in the store for 55 minutes before I had enough of shady business practice and the managers terrible attitude. I decided to check out the Car toys in Arlington to see if was a car toys issue or management issue. Arlington store was polar opposite. Ben the manager was great and they installed the "cheap" alarm without issue. Fort worth store blatantly lied about alarm issues then added random fees on top. Took my new car that has been garage kept that I had for a week. I dropped it off with no scratches and when I got it back had scratches on driver rear door, left rear quarter panel, and on the trunk. The scratches were deep enough that your nail would catch and white was showing. Spoke with both mangers and they said it does not appear consistent with what my guys would do. I know you do not intend to scratch a customers vehicle but you did. The manager had several of his guys come and look at it as if more people viewing it would make them go away. I said I get it you don't believe me so check the cameras. He refused... If you take your car here make sure you and the guys working on your vehicle do a walk around your vehicle get it on video because they will always say " that is not consistent with what my guys will do". With a lot of personal coordination, and clearing my morning for a 9 AM install, I get there to find out they don't even have the parts in stock. Made an appointment to get my dash cam to be installed. I had a 2 pm appointment time, yet when I arrived there they had 3 pm on their board...nobody informed me that I was a hour early and possibly still had to wait a full hour until my vehicle to be serviced, No biggie, I waited. But still... Fast forward to 2 days after the $$$ install and guess what. I get in my car and my rear view camera is just dangling in the backseat. I know the TX heat can be brutal and maybe that is the culprit but as much as I paid I wouldn't expect to run into any mishaps this soon. I called CarToys and told them my issue only to be told that I needed to schedule another appointment because my vehicle need to be "fully inspected", and here I was thinking that my issue was a quick fix. This sucks. I should have paid closer attention to the reviews. The employees showed a lack of concern for my issue. CarToys at this location is NOT the better way to go! read more

I just wanted to say this review doesn't do the justice the Car Toys Hurst deserve! I've never purchased anything from Car Toys until today and let me tell you, Hunter, the Assistant Manager really did a FANTASTIC job in getting me the correct new in dash radio. I have a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer and it still had the original factory radio. So I wanted to upgrade it to a NEW touchscreen radio with some bells and whistles. Also, since they were already having their Black Friday sale going on, a free back up camera was included! I did not have one originally. Man, they did a STELLAR job and it looks and sounds AMAZING! My boyfriend and I came and checked out how much it would cost for installation of a subwoofer. After listening to a few we went with Nick to the counter and he let us know it would be about $700 after labor, parts, wires, adapters and everything. He tan some number, got a second person and then it came out to $1100. He wouldn't give us a paper to even show how he got to that but he said there's a separate labor price for each parts they will do. No place I have checked around has separate labor prices, just one base labor. It appeared neither of them know what they were talking about or how to correctly price it. We came back 2 days later to purchase the JL 10" & JL 12" sub party packs. NOT THE INSTALLATION. The 10 sub was in but the 12 was not. We were told it will be in within 2-3 days since it was just coming from the Arlington location. We then called to check and see if it was in store yet, and the 12" & 1 amp was there but we were told they didn't even order the second amp so we then have to wait for it come from the warehouse. We were told everything would come in together so that was extremely annoying. It was also frustrating not only that we didn't have everything but we weren't even informed it had arrived we had to call ourself. It has now been 9 days and the second amp still isn't in. After calling today I was told it will be in tomorrow. I absolutely don't recommend ever purchasing here. The lack of communication & reliability is absolutely awful! read more

10 hours at this location on a 2-3 hour head unit installed. Chris their sales manager was extremely rude andintentionally made me sit for 4 hours on the second day WITH a appointment after the first days equipment didn't work after purchased thru them.The install manager also had terrible customer service and appeared he had hurt himself and had a large paper tower taped to his head with blood showing still getting into people's installs which is really gross to me They put vehicles with windows down next to the dumpster for hours while the installer talks on his phone and not doing the install with everything ripped out.After they determined they sold me bad parts they said come back at 9am the next day and they would have the other kit there from hurst location and get everything done.When I got there at 9:05am the kit hadn't been picked up as promised and took over another hour to get it there.Then Chris had me sit there till almost 1pm with the installer assigned to it worked on 2 other jobs.Then at the end of install the price was almost 200$ more then told and did not function with everything and I ended up having to go to the Arlington location to get it fixed now some 5 weeks later Would never recommend this location to anyone if your determined to use car toys take the time to go to Arlington and get it done correct read more

We had a dvd player installed in our van that took longer than I thought. After instillation no one gave my wife a rundown of what they did, where they left the remote or how to operate it correctly. Customer Service was very dry so that's expected. What I didn't expect was for the player to be slightly crooked after the manager himself installed it. read more

After scheduling the appointment, I arrived, and the technician walking me through the alarm system which verified the alarm system is still working properly. Called for info on window tinting before driving all the way to this store since the two closest to me don't do tinting. Maybe it's just the guy I spoke to or maybe it's actually their policy but I just don't understand how if I tell him what kind of car and how many windows I want done he can't tell me a price? Also he told me they may or may not be able to do it the same day I come in to discuss price and timeframe. So I would need a friend to follow me their not knowing if I'm wasting their time. CarToys... Anyone but them. Specifically the one off Bryant Irvin Road. They are bait and switch artists. I'll give you the details if you want them, but when a 340.00 car radio tops out at almost $1000.00 with the trickle in add-ons. Sure the backup camera is free, but it's over 150.00 to wire it. Sure the installation is free, but the free hookup of it requires 3 other costly items that you don't hear about until you're halfway in. When the original salesman said, "should've read the fine print" after I said, "you should not have promised certain things without full disclosure," the manager had to step in before I went over the counter. read more

Horrible service. Took my mustang 1988 to get a custom speaker box made and they had it in the shop for over a month without even letting me know that the JL audio speaker needed to be repaired. Lied about saying they sent it in and for 3 weeks just had it sitting in the back. When I returned on a Tuesday to get my money back they talked me into leaving it and sending the speaker to get repaired instead. Called the next day and they confirmed they had sent in my speaker to JL Audio then called me again on Sunday (5 days later) asking if I wanted to send my speaker to JL Audio. So this means they still had it sitting in a corner even after they talked me into leaving my car there again. I returned Monday to get a full refund and my car. They don't know how to communicate or even run a business When I took my car home I realized they broke (cracked the frame) my convertible top. Waste of time and money. Went to have apple car play and tint done. Told me they could put in apple care play to my sons car. Had me order the part before hand supposedly non refundable $500 or so. Wrong part was ordered. They reordered it. Called left me message about the car. Called them back and said, oh your car is ready. Paid about 2k, walked out to the car and no apple car play was put in. Just the windows were done. Walked back in and they said oh we are still waiting on the part. They did not know how to give the money back to my CC. Called the manager the next day and they said actually they can't do apple car play in my sons car and to come pick up the car. But I was just there the night before. Still have to find time to go pick up the car and see what they will credit me back from the 2k in my CC for a job that was 200-300 with the tint done. They have also had the car for a week before they figured out that apple car play would not work on this car. They will also say they called me, which they did but when I told them to call me on a different number multiple times and they could not get that right either. read more

Well this has turned into quite a fiasco. I was told to bring my car here yesterday at 3 PM. My appointment I'm assuming would be at 3 PM. An hour later I was still here waiting for my car to be taken back. I didn't have a ride to go anywhere else. When I ask them why if they said 3 PM it's taking an hour just to at least get it in the store, they said we are short on installers. So I got a lyft to go back home. I then got a call late last night that said they couldn't get the module to work I paid 70 extra for or I'm about to pay 70 extra for, and they would call tech-support at 7 AM which I assumed meant he would be here working on my car at 7 AM. That's what he made it sound like. So I got a lyft this morning to be here by 7:30 and noticed on the door they don't open till 10. No one was here calling tech-support or doing anything else at 7 AM. This has turned into a ridiculous mess. I've been walking around this lot for three hours. Now I'm adding to this. Been waiting here this morning for three hours and now they just told me tech-support doesn't open until 11. I'm done I'm over it read more

It took them the whole week to "fix" it and I get it back today to only see my window still isn't working. They also messed up my 4wheel drive and left my hood open in the process. I spoke to Joey at noon today he told me today that I could bring my bike in and have a motorcycle alarm installed today. I rode for 45 minutes to get here and I was on time. Joey is not here and they don't even have a motorcycle alarm in store. They told me to go buy an alarm and bring it back so they can install it. ain't that some bullshit, don't come here don't waste your time here. Joey needs to correct his nastiness!!! I love how management write a simple little message on the bottom of all our one star reviews to contact them so they can help us. So I got my vehicle awhile back from Carmax a little over 7 months ago. The vehicle was advertised with a back up camera and apple car play. Neither feature was in the car, so Carmax sent the vehicle to car toys to have those things installed. They had to install a kenwood to get apple CarPlay and they installed the camera. The camera is ok but not very accurate. But the radio doesn't get any real clear stations anymore. They told me the factory radio always outperforms a aftermarket radio and there was nothing they could do about sound quality. Also the port where my apple play is keeps coming loose. Extremely unhappy will never take ANYTHING to car toys ever. If I could give no stars I would. read more

Was scheduled a week out, was the first car to be dropped off for the morning was told my vehicle would be ready for pick up by end of day only to be told right before closing that my vehicle had been started but not finished. I was informed at even though i was told by end of day only my Tint job had been done. The radio was advertised to come with FREE Sirus Xm radio tuner and 3 months service, i asked stipulations of advertisement and was given false information in regards to this offer by store staff. I was offered a $50 refund as compensation on a $2500 purchase. Had to take vehicle back in the same week due to dvd player shorting out same day as installation.
