Went through them for a breathalyzer install and removal. They are somewhat nice to talk to, respectful when you walk in so that is good. The reason for the 1 star is the work quality. For being a company that specializes in electronics in cars, they do NOT do a good job of wiring. This crappy wiring (along with the breathalyzer, not their fault) caused my whole starting system to be messed up. When I asked them to try and fix their mistake, I basically heard "not my problem" from the employee. When I checked the wiring for myself, it was not pretty. Just go somewhere else. read more

My car stereo had recently taken a dump and we were in the market for a new one. We had originally looked at Best Buy, but wanted something a little better than a big box store and more specialized. After doing some research my husband and I came across Car Toys. It was a Friday afternoon and I was about to take a last minute 14 hour drive to my hometown and was in desperate need of a stereo. When we came into Car Toys we were greeted right away and asked what we needed. When we told the gentleman (I believe his name was Miles but I unfortunately can't remember exactly), what we were looking for he showed us their options and explained the differences. He didn't try to sell us something we didn't need or out of our budget. While we were getting everything squared away, another salesman took some joy in turning on the different light systems/buttons for my daughter to play with which was very sweet of him to do. Thankfully they were able to replace the stereo same day, we just had to wait a few hours. Not a big deal at all. Once we brought it back in, they replaced it quickly and it looked/worked great! He showed us all of the features and had us test everything out to ensure it worked properly. Unfortunately a few days later, the little bluetooth microphone on my dash stopped working and I wasn't sure why. We chose to wait to have it looked at until we were back in Fort Collins and it ended up being not even a 5 minute fix and they didn't even charge us! Really wish I could leave a positive review. The sales and tech guys I worked with were friendly and seem like really nice guys. However... Definitely feel like they overcharge on some of their hardware look carefully at sites like Crutchfield and what the difference is on the same receiver. Labor - I would be willing to pay the premium on labor if they weren't just throwing the units in and wiring them up without careful testing and doing the extra mile. I'll elaborate: The maestro system for my Tundra requires an additional 2k OHM resistor for the tpms to work. I would expect for the price I pay on install for the tech do do a simple google search and find this. Especially when I asked about it during the sales process. Further, when I got there the tech wanted to "show me the system" ok well upon doing this I quickly found out he didn't even know I had a sub in there. Did you even test my speakers? obviously not. To top it off some rando hit my car while it was parked there. They didn't call me when the job was done and had told me just to come in at 5 and get it. So the car was parked there for hours unnecessarily and for all I know parked in a way that it was sticking out and got hit. To me it seems like the people at this franchise are just going through the motions and getting their check. I really don't blame the individual employees as it seems like cartoys as a whole is sortof the McDonalds of car stereo. I was depending on these people to recommend the proper products. My faith was not well placed. They sold me a unit that included a rear camera that I specifically told them I did not want. They could have told me I would save almost $200 by buying a similar product from the same manufacturer that did not include the rear camera. Instead, they kept their mouth shut and charged me the extra $200. When I raised the issue after the installation, they blamed me, did not apologize, and made no effort to make things right. Worst experience ever!!!! RUN from this place!!! I had an appointment for an install of a new head unit in my suv. Dropped the truck off the night before. The install tech assigned to my vehicle assured it would be done by 7pm "no problem". When I called at 615 I was told it hadn't even been started, and there was nothing on the schedule available!!!! I placed an initial deposit, and was offered a refund by the sorry excuse for a manager. He blamed covid, then someone quitting out of the blue (wonder why) as to why my vehicle hadn't been done. No apology for not calling earlier in the day to inform me of the situation...NOTHING. This is a sorry excuse for customer service. I hope they close permanently!!!!!! read more

I went in on a Sunday with my daughter's stock Camry stereo on the fritz. These guys had the stereo, steering wheel control adapter kit and matching (silver) bezel for the dash in stock. The catch? I was in from 2 hours away with my 2 younger kids and hoped they could install it immediately so I could return the car. The tech said if I could leave the car, he'd do his best to get it in that day. After an Uber ride to lunch and a little stroll downtown, they called to inform me the vehicle was ready for pickup....and everything functioned and sounded better than it ever had. While the people are nice they are not telling you the truth. They will tell you what you need to hear to get the sale and then fail to follow through. After 20 minutes discussing a specific scheduled installation time and being told it would take 1 hour, we took it in on time and told it would be done some time before 8pm and that they do not do appointments. So they made the whole appointment junk up and wasted more than 6 hours of our time. Save yourself some time and find someplace else to buy your car stereo needs. read more

I brought my car in for an "purchase +install special" of $139.99 for a pair of front speakers. Immediately the price quote jumped $50 because a special "interface" might be needed for my older car. After install, the tech commented about how easy the install was, but could not confirm the need for that "special interface". Worst experience!!!! TRAVIS was RUDE, Disrepectful, Condescending, talked over me and when he opened the door to re-enter the store, after walking away from me, raised his voice to a yell and humiliated me in front of the employees and customers. How proud he must be of himself! I just had a stereo installed last month and the Bluetooth started acting up last week. It cuts in and out to the point where you can't have a conversation. He blamed my phone after hearing it do this on a call I made. I tried to show him that it stops when I take it off of Bluetooth and then starts again when I put it back on. He wouldn't listen and chose to be very argumentative with me. I asked him to please let me talk for one minute and he refused to let me. I asked him why he was getting so upset and why he was taking it so personally that my stereo wasn't working properly. I made this purchase for the Bluetooth option and it doesn't work. He made every excuse in the book besides offering a tech to look at it until I asked to speak to the Manager. I asked him for the number to the Corporate office, which he said he didn't have. Even google has that, so I did make a complaint. Not sure I want to give them a 2nd shot at me, but I need this fixed! The stereo nor the install were free! I wouldn't recommend this store and I wish I would have used Best Buy like I was going to. Should Woulda Coulda! Never again! read more

First off - the staff is very friendly and helpful. Let's start with that because that's about where it ends. (It's the only reason this isn't a one-star review.) I'm sure they have all kinds of neat toys, but I was there for a complete vehicle detail. I had already been informed that it would take all day so that wasn't a surprise. I even opted for the $100 headlight restoration. Part of detailing is paying attention to detail, or so I thought. I was in a rush when I finally picked it up because it looked like it might rain and I wanted to get it into the garage ASAP. When I did, I took a look to see how well they did. - Treatment of most exterior plastics was blotchy and incomplete. - There was still dirt on the windshield. Yes, dirt. - The tire shine was applied to 3/4 of each tire because they didn't move the vehicle forward or back to finish the job. - There was mud and dirt still inside the door sills. - There were smudges on all surfaces from wet towels. - It was supposed to have been waxed, but... I'm starting to have my doubts. - The interior was cleaned pretty well (again, except for all of the smudged windows from wet towels.) Basically, for nearly $500, I got an $11 touchless car wash. I had my car stereo replaced today here and was super happy they could get me in that day. I have a funeral that's a long drive in a few days and my stereo was on the frizz and wouldn't play any cd past 30 minutes. Anyways there customer service is pretty great. They greet you but let you browse for a bit before they come and tell you about the model your looking at. I really like this method. However they do tend to up sell, but its because they offer so many services. I told my self i wasn't gonna spend more than $200 but i ended spending around $350, accessories and a bit of detailing can really add up! I had my headlights i guess... de-fogged? I'm not sure what they called the process but basically it makes your headlights uber clear and sexy looking. They called me and said they would give me a discount if i did it since my car was already in the bay (bit of up selling) I instantly was kinda regretting it after i got off the phone but then when i saw my car... i couldn't believe how great the headlights looked. They where clearer than when i bought it used, It really made my car look new on the outside, and was totally worth it. I hopped in my car car and noticed there was very little bass from my duel 12" sub woofers in the trunk but then realized the EQ on the deck hadn't been set yet. I'm glad i checked that before i went back and looked at a moron. I set the EQ and everything thumped correctly... now i can terrorize the city with bass again! The install was CLEAN! and the deck looks great in my dash. They also offer a really good warranty on the install. I think if anything goes wrong i have 4 years until it runs out. They also have a ton of cellphones... not that it really matters because if you buy anything other than an iPhone you'll regret it. On a side note: I've put a lot of thought into where i buy car stereo's. i looked up the price of the deck i bought after i got home and it was $30 however installation if free when they have a sale going or if you spend over $100 it becomes free. Normally if you just showed up with a deck you bought online I'd be willing to bet it'd be around $90 to have that sucker installed. So they charge a little bit more but charge a little bit less... It's a good marketing strategy for them, however if you have 'a buddy you know' you might be able to get a better deal. However your 'buddy' won't give you a warranty. In my opinion Car toys is one of the better solutions to have car audio installed, its a lot better than ordering everything you want off the internet then finding out there's a single component keeping you from installing it. Just expect a lot of "add-on's" your gonna need to get any kind of car audio installed... but that's something you should know and expect before getting an audio upgrade anyways. Long story short, you know your gonna have the shell out some money for car audio. After your okay with that i feel like car toys is one of the best options, however i wish they charged the standard 'suggested retail price' for the products they sell then charge a flat rate 'bought it here' or 'bought it elsewhere' price on the install. It'd just make things easier i feel like personally. read more

I took my car here for detailing because I found a great deal on Groupon. I dropped it off at 9am and got a call at around 3pm that it was ready. It took a little longer than I expecting, but looking at my car, it was well worth the wait. Both of the guys who spoke with me were very kind. The detail specialist talked me through what the Groupon included and everything he would be taking care of. (I believe his name was William.) Good guys and good work. read more

Went in to get a woofer for my Mini Cooper. Started out well, the guy was very knowledgeable. The sales guy showed me one set up which I was comfortable with. We then got the installer involved, who immediately started on the upsell, during which I noticed the original sales guy quoted me twice the cost of a needed part. Too many people trying to sell me too many upsells. Installers shouldn't be selling. So after we finally decide on what I want, including needed amp and converter, sales guy goes to type up "official" quote. Total comes to $750, not bad, but it doesn't include the woofer - the whole purpose for my visit. Add the woofer and the project goes out of budget. I left feeling like I had just been to a used car lot. I hate to pull the "because I'm a woman" card, but it felt that way. I came home and did research. Car Toys IS very competitive in the pricing of their components. But over $400 to install a woofer? I'm not getting a full system, just wanted to add a woofer, which comes in it's own box already, to the trunk of my car! Nothing custom, once wired I could unhook it. I understand that it does need a converter and amp to be wired in to an existing system, but $400 seemed high. The sleezy upselling cost them my business and that of my husband, who DOES want an entire system. UPDATE: the $100 converter they said I needed (and told me originally that it'd be $200) is NOT needed. So I would have paid double for a piece not needed, that I would never have seen if it was installed or not. read more

These three starts truly only go to the last 10 minutes of my experience and to Andy and David. They made the experience pleasant and I only talked to them for maybe 5-10 minutes but they are very exceptional people and were so kind and I acknowledge their hard work. The rest of the people I encountered were not very kind at times to me and my interactions on the phone were not great at times to say the least, being hung up on once before I was done talking. But through it all they made it right for my particular situation and I really appreciate that. But like I said, huge huge thanks to Andy and David for great customer service. This company uses false advertising to get you in the door . First example they advertise a $99 Remote start installed. That particular remote start can only be installed in one type And year of vehicle for that price. And in order to have it installed in any other type our year of vehicle the cost goes up to $260. Had a $1000 unit installed. Get home and look at the dash kit and it is falling off, very bad fit. I could have done a better job Went in the next day...they were glad to have a look and try and fix. And in the end, it still is a very loose fit and still moves around A LOT. Just going to have someone else try and remount my super expensive unit because this place is deemed incompetent. Update, The manager called me and wants to make it right by me coming in again to have someone take a look. I am moving across country so today so i did not have a chance to let them loo at it but how many times do you need.. Update #2, Unit was not wired correctly, the unit thinks it is in automatic, i drive a manual, which is keeping the setting function from being accessed...meaning i can not fix the bass or treble! Needs to be reinstalled anyways be cause the damn thing has a finger width gap on one side...not centered on my dash at all! This place is a JOKE!! read more

the 1st time using car toys, it took 3 return trips to get the remote starter they installed to work correctly. The next time I went in expecting that the free install on android audio receivers mentioned in their ad would be honored. Apparently, this is only on specific receivers, which is not mentioned in their ad. Seems that they are only trying to get you into their store to try and sell you on services. $500 to install a $500 receiver!! Really car toys!! Deceptive advertising at its best. read more

On 5 May 2018 I took my vehicle to Car Toys in Ft Collins to have an antenna replaced. Car Toys charged me $99.67 for the installation. The technician (Chris Benton) had a problem with the antenna wobbling and could not secure it enough to prevent the wobbling. When I got home I looked closer and found that the total installation was one of the worst. The antenna cable was pinched between the passenger door and fender. The antenna cable was NOT routed correctly. I removed the antenna and reinstalled one since the shabby work prevented me from using the installed antenna. I did a lot of shopping around before making a decision to purchase an entirely new sound system at Car Toys. When I first came in, I knew what I wanted, but did not realize that I'd have to have two separate amplifiers for what I wanted. I was then shown other options and decided to purchase an Alpine Amplifier, a 12 inch JL Audio sub as well as 4 Focal speakers and 2 Focal tweeters for my Jeep Wrangler. They said they could install it as soon as tomorrow (3/15/19) so I agreed to the price, reluctantly, and paid in full before install. I also was a little concerned with what it would sound like as my previous sound system in a different vehicle was exactly what I wanted again, sound wise. I was NEVER told I could hear it before I bought it as this was never mentioned nor offered. I paid $1,830.07. When I returned Friday for installation, the salesman told me he charged me incorrectly and needed to collect an additional $20.00. When I asked if the manager could just override that, he said yes but he would not be able to do future business with me. Irritated, I said fine and they did not charge me the additional $20.00. Once the installation was finished (I waited the full time in the waiting area), they said it was all done and handed me my keys. They did not allow me to test it out, ask if I had any questions, did a walk-around - NOTHING. I drove home, not really pleased with the sound I was hearing, and got out to inspect the subwoofer in the back. When I opened my back gate to take a look, I noticed that there was a relatively noticeable and large dent on the metal protector covering the speaker itself. Understandably, I was furious. I just paid almost two thousand dollars and they already damaged something that THEY installed. I called and the salesman I was working with (Andre) said I can just pop it off myself and correct the dent. Is this how the store treats all of their customers? I'm honestly astonished that they treated me this way. They made multiple mistakes and I will never return to another car toys, unless I decide to replace the subwoofer with 2 smaller ones, in that case I will go to another store. read more

If you need something installed on your car, this is the place to come!!! While the prices may be a bit more than places like Best Buy, they definitely make up for it in great service. A few days after I got my iPod adapter installed, it stopped working. I took it down there and they fixed it immediately! Seems that I had a shorted fuse in my Jeep. They took care of it and made sure it was working properly! Furthermore, when I got it installed they asked how I wanted everything set up which they were able to set it up just the way I wanted it, even though it was probably a bit more difficult to do it the way I want it, and guess what it cost, not a dime extra! I originally came here for car speakers for my Mercedes. They looked at it quickly and said I take six inch speakers in the back so I bought some. I went home to put them in and there were no places to put them. So I took them back for 4 inch speakers that actually fit and paid the difference. I had found speakers elsewhere for a fraction of the price so I decided to take the 4 inch speakers back. I have only gotten back the difference in price for the 4 inch speakers and now I am down 40 dollars. I had called them to tell them and they had told me it was my banks fault (for the record I have never had problems with returns). Not too happy. read more
