I just realized I won't be bringing my Jeep here again. And that is so, so sad. My parents who've lived 27 years in Houston, have decided to move up to Georgetown TX this summer. The house I grew up in will be no more, nor will the neighborhood I've grown to love, nor the carefree security of crashing at my parents place when I didn't want much hassle of staying somewhere else in Houston. My Jeep turned 10 this year, and the only reason she's still pushing through today is because of Thom. Ever since I first laid eyes on her my senior year of high school, I've been taking her to Car Klinic. The shop is naught 5 minutes from my old high school, and less than 7 minutes from my [old] house (don't make me cry again). Thom is likely the most honest, trustworthy mechanic I've had the honor of befriending. And that is no understatement, my friend: Thom is practically family by now. And now that my clan is relocating to the hill country I will work harder to refer old friends here. No joke, Thom will assess what needs to be done with your Bat-mobile, tell you what is imperative vs. what can wait a few months, THEN he will charge you only for the manual labor. Not the initial assessment, nor the nice chat he'll have with you. Just the brass tacks. I needed a long list of repairs one Thursday so I dropped my Jeep off here in the morning, knowing they would take most of the day. Now officially, Car Klinic closes by 5 on weekdays. Unofficially, Thom bends over backwards for his regulars. I was stuck at home a measly 7 minutes away and needed to pick up my Jeep. Lo and behold, I receive a call from Thom himself asking which street I live on. HE DROVE THE CAR RIGHT TO MY DOORSTEP. I was speechless, awe-struck, and couldn't find the words to adequately thank him. So I just hugged the man. We send him Christmas cards every year. read more

Tom has been our mechanic for years!!! He is the most honest mechanic you will meet. We have always gotten a second opinion from him after we get a quote from dealership or other mechanics. Recently, my daughter took her car in because her check engine light came on, he took in right away and put on the diagnostic machine and came back to us and said that the gas cap was loose. lol. Believe the hype, no one associates "mechanic" with honesty yet Thom is the MAN. My family has been going to him for years! He is affordable and most of all honest. Although he does not have a huge staff, he manages to get most cars completed on time. He really tries to get affordable parts for your car with little to no mark-up. I guarantee if you put Thom's workmanship, honesty and prices against any other mechanic , he will win. He is the best. He also will inspect a car for you before you buy it. My family has never had a new car and rely on Thom to check out any used car we consider buying. He has never charged us for that. We set out for my sisters house yesterday only to have to detour to a mechanic when smoke was coming from under the hood of my Honda. I already knew I needed to take it somewhere soon because although I hadnt seen smoke there was an odd smell. Remembered this place from the review I read here so we immediately took the car to Car Klinic. Arrived around 11:30am. Tom was very nice, immediately took a look and said it looked like some sort of oil leak. He had 5 other vehicles ahead of me but said if I could leave the car with him he would take a look at it within a couple hours and if it was something minor he could fix it that same day. He called me about 30 minutes after I left saying it was definitely an oil leak. Apparently the last place I took it for an oil change put the filter on way too tight and it cracked and oil was leaking out. Tom said it took them 10 minutes just to get the filter off it was on so tight. Anyway, the car was ready for pick up by 1:30 and he even cleaned off as much of the leaked out oil as he could so it wouldnt continue to burn, smoke, and smell. He showed me the old filter, where it was cracked, and how it was all bent up because they had to work so hard to get it loose. He let me take it with me so I could take it to the last place that did the oil change that caused this problem in the first place. I would take my car back to this place. Tom was nice, fast, did what he said he would do and explained everything thoroughly. read more

I learned of this place through a yelp review about a year ago and I've been coming here ever since (my car is crap) anyway Mr Thom is an honest mechanic and gives a fair price for his services. I got tired of going to the dealership and hemorrhaging money for everything. He's fixed all my car issues-you name it. Best of all, I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of for being a woman. It's not uncommon for mechanics to overcharge ladies because they think we're clueless when it comes to cars. Thom is the best, I have a Explore and Altima coupe. He has worked on both. He is honest, and will tell you the truth. As a women that is what keeps me going back. 2nd thing is the work is always done correctly. The shop is a mans place, but I never stay with my car/truck. I drop it off, Thom calls and tell me whats the issue. Since I am at home, I can always check the prices online, and he is ALWAYS fair. He doesnt try to rip you off with labor cost. Like many shops.
