Unique spot with very friendly service. A great departure from standard chain options.

Latte and chocolate espresso scone
Maureen N.

The ambiance was great for working and/or chatting. The ladies who helped me were also awesome. I enjoyed the espresso chocolate scone more than the latte. It was rich and not too sweet. I just wish that I could taste more of the espresso but that's one of the reasons I didn't give full 5 stars. Well, that and the latte was not as rich in coffee taste. I like my latte a little stronger. But overall, it was worth the visit.

in love with this place. when i went to tennesee i had to run in here and check it out. capybarra plushies everywhere- i almost bought one... the coffee was great and helped me on my roadtrip back. service was super good and fast. the inside of the place is the cutest and had a cool vibe.

Good selection of sugars

Fun little coffee shop with excellent and friendly service, strong menu offering original brews and CBD additions, and plenty to fix up the caffeine drop in - us four sampled the seasonal berry latte and mocha. Everyone enjoyed theirs even a few who are not coffees drinkers, highly recommend!

Mocha Iced coffee

Visited this cute coffee shop with my husband. Ordered a iced mocha coffee. Tasted great and energized me. 10/10 Great service. Kind, cleanly, and made sure we liked our order before we left. It felt more personal than going to Starbucks. Definitely recommend!

Iced brown sugar latte

Capybara is a very pleasant environment for anyone. The staff was pleasant and quick. The coffee was rich and tasty. There are many places to sit. The staff also keep the establishment very clean by when customers left they clean each table off thoroughly. There is only street parking that I found. Great place to take a breach from classes if near university commons and study while drinking a coffee. There is free Wi-Fi.

Iced matcha

Had to come back and give this place a second chance. The matcha (!) will keep me coming back. No sugar added which is hard to find. Love!

A fun little coffee shop with easy access to shopping and campus. I was a first timer today and didn't really know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. When I walked in I was greeted by a friendly staff and quickly taken care of when it comes to ordering. I ordered just a simple cup of coffee. I sat and they brought the order out to me. It was fresh brewed coffee that was in its own separate vessel. Th coffee was toasted well and had a wonderful flavor. The atmosphere was comfortable. With a choice between tables, lounge chairs, and outside seating all people can find a spot. If you are wanted a quiet little shop that has a great staff don't miss out on this Knoxville gem.

Great spot, delicious coffee, and fantastic service! The owner gave me helpful recommendations since it was my first visit! I ended up getting the honey lavender hot latte. This visit will definitely not be my last! (Btw, they even bring your coffee to your table!)

I ordered a standard hot latte no added flavor just 2% milk. What I got was a full bodied, rich and smooth cup of coffee. The roast has no bitterness. Very enjoyable. My wife asked for something sweet hot and they recommended a latte with honey and cayenne. It was just right. Kick of heat and not too sweet. A surprising star of our visit was an apple tart! It paired so well with our coffees. It was fresh and a nice balance of crisp tart and warm apple. We also brought one of our dogs with us and Awaken is very pet friendly. There was also another pet owner chilling at a nearby table. Great stop. We highly recommend Awaken if you are in the area. Be advised that parking is paid in the area.

It has nice large windows that overlook the street and seems like a great place to hang out and get some work done. Parking is a little bit of a struggle but it's to be expected in a denser area like this. I got their speciality honey bear latte iced. It was prepared quickly and was super yummy! The cinnamon and honey flavor was sweet and strong and it had a great ratio of coffee to milk. Would happily order again! My one complaint is service was kind of...icy? I dunno, the barista never approached or asked if I had any questions and just generally gave the vibe that she'd rather not be helping me. It didn't feel very welcoming, but she wasn't outright rude, either. Still, coffee is the most important thing, and in that regard they absolutely delivered!

Inside, it has a touch of 70's flair and midcentury pizzazz in a small but serene space. Seating is limited, with a few cozy seating spots and many bar seats and low-top tables. The wi-fi was rockin' and many outlets being put to good, techie use. The barista warmly greeted us and quickly got to work with our creations-a cold brew and a hot latte. There is a $1 upgrade for dairy alternatives and any sugar and sweetener is in a self-serve area, not added into the drink (although the barista asked me if that's okay, thus, I think she would have added if I preferred that). They have sugar and stevia, as an FYI for anyone who wants/needs a different option. They have a few baked treats and a few seasonal coffee flavors and add-in flavors and beyond that, the drink menu is simplistic. My latte was the creamiest, foamiest latte in all the land. The coffee itself was a touch more bitter than we like but we were able to doctor it up nicely with stevia. Cute spot with a lovely view of the surrounding, scenic neighborhood.

Beyond its beautiful aesthetics, the milky layer provided a rich and nutty sweetness that complemented the dark and earthy tones of the espresso. The cold brew was quite the adventure, taking in every layer, one at a time. What started out as subtle sweetness quickly turned into a cacao aroma and ended at citrus tartness. Small but mighty brick and mortar shop in a quaint neighborhood across from a church and lined with other local businesses. Bar stools, lounge chair, work bench, they've got it all. Certainly a hidden gem in residential Knoxville. So glad we stopped by!

It wasn't as sweet as I expected (like if you order at Starbucks for eg) but the ambiance inside is excellent - they have tables and regular chairs but also couches and big soft chairs. I sat in a big soft chair and was very comfortable! They also have two clean bathrooms, i changed in there after hiking. There weren't enough hanging pegs but they were spacious so still good enough. The staff up front were quick and helpful! No trouble there. And there were a decent number of parking spots out back - that said, by the time I left, the lot was completely full. Not sure where else you could park in the area. Overall, if passing and needing a rest I would rec this spot! But I would try ordering something else besides a London fog ;)
