So my $9.99 sandwich was now $12.79 without any fries! Hand cut fries have to be the cheapest side and most restaurants add them to sandwich plates and only charge for substitutions. Our total bill for two sandwiches and fries plus one iced tea was $35.96. And if it was gourmet or a larger serving I wouldn't post this review, but it was small and ordinary food! We stopped here on our way home from another location and weren't familiar with the area. Chances are we'll never be by again but I thought I'd save someone else from being ripped off!

Beyond that, the tavern posts its rotating daily specials on Facebook with items that would surprise you given the rest of the menu. Think: Chicken Alfredo, Jambalaya and Beef Stroganoff. The Mine Tavern probably isn't too bad for a cheap beer as well.

That's the way it turned out to be with Tony's... there's nothing wrong with this place at all. The front part of Tony's very much resembles a 1950s style diner, down to the booths, the bar stools, and the photos on the walls. The back room has pool tables and is occasionally used for bands. The selection of beer on tap, while limited, is more varied than most dive bars. There's an oddly placed mirror in the men's room that, while using the urinal, I noticed gives you a view out into the seating area. Which means people in that spot in the seating area also have a view of you. Hopefully this is accidental and not by design. :). Be careful with parking, you WILL get towed if you park in the lot across the street. I had to parallel park in a residential area a couple of blocks to the east.

There are bands here regularly and the drink prices are more than fair, but the selection is a bit lacking. The owner and a few bartenders are very friendly and take care of their patrons well. Some nights may be packed while others you'll have plenty of space to relax. Parking can be a challenge too as it is only street parking near by. If your not careful you'll pass it by as the signage is not real easy to see driving by.
