The collard greens you can order them cooked in chicken, pork or vegan (no protein) I got them with pork, it was tender and flavorful. I'd try the vegan version next time. I also got a fried chicken wing which was tender and freshly fried. But the batter wasn't too crispy. It was a whole wing, flat, drumette and tip. Most of the food is all in heating trays, cafeteria style. I think if you order fried fish it's made to order. There are a few tables and a TV inside. You can look at the food behind the counter but you need to order at the register first. When the order goes in that's how the other person knows what to plate up. I was excited as I love the sweet nutty flavor of red snapper.  I watched as the fish fried.  Red snapper was coated in cornmeal batter and was crunchy on the outside.  Normally cornmeal batter has a slightly sweet and slightly salty flavor.  I didn't taste much from either the batter or the fish other than the fried batter flavor. Fries were very crunchy and dry.  Not overcooked but close. I added 5 shrimp to the order.  There was a ton of batter and some kind of hot sauce used to season the batter which hid the flavor of the shrimp.  I did not like the flavor so I gave the rest of the shrimp to Maggie who didn't like the flavor of the oil or the batter. A fried whitefish fillet (my choice) or catfish nuggets was available as the protein served on a bun with tartar sauce. The batter used on the fish was a light cornmeal. I appreciated that it was not heavily coated on the fillet. I also ordered a serving of the Creole Gumbo. The roux was not as dark as have I seen in other versions of this classic Southern recipe. A medley of crab pieces, clams, chicken, and andouille sausage was mixed together while a dish of white rice was provided on the side to add into the broth. There were only four tables for on-site dining so most of the business at Bayside Fish & Chips was for takeout orders. The BBQ meats were not available at the time of my afternoon visit. The brisket and pork ribs would be worth trying on another occasion when I am in this neighborhood. The food quality and prices were worth a four star rating.
