My husband and I are looking to move onto (and live aboard full time) a Lagoon 42 Catamaran in about 2 years. We didn't know how to sail so we thought the best thing to do was to charter a boat for a week and take ASA (American Sailing Association) 101 (basic keelboat sailing), 103 (basic coastal cruising), 104 (bareboat cruising) and 114 (cruising catamaran). From zero to hero. Needless to say I was a little concerned. Not with Mark. Mark is the most patient, safe, articulate instructor I've had in learning something so technical and potentially dangerous. The guy never loses his cool and is very intentional with hands on training. He has too many certifications to list, and 100 years of experience. He is just calm as a cucumber as we attempt to put the catamaran into a little slip with the wind blowing pretty hard. We learned so much in that week and we're grateful to Mark for his expertise. And, he's just an all around great guy that you want to hang with for a week! read more
