It shouldn't be good but the fish is nice! The service is fast and efficient. If you're in a hurry for nutritious meal, it works.

The food at this location has always been very good, until recently. Maybe they can't get help because the quality of the food has been steadily going down. My husband & I arrived at 11:30 a.m. right after they opened at 11:00. Our food arrived at our table cold & undercooked. When I complained I was ignored. At the prices they charge today I at least expect food I can eat. We will not be going back to this location, after all Culvers and other tasty places to eat good fish are just down the road! read more

Things you should know before going here: They don't open at the scheduled time but only after the workers *decide* to open the safe. They will rudely let you know as soon as you pull up and act like you're an inconvenience and should immediately go away. It's best to show up hours after their opening just to be safe but don't DARE to politely ask when it's the best time to come back because they'll snap at you! Worst drive thru experience I've ever had. Waited over 35 minutes and there were only 3 cars in front of us. We could see 4 folks standing around chit chatting which is my guess as to why it took so long. Once we did get the food it was nothing like I remember. very kind, ordered a 6 peice chicken tender kids meal and only got 2 timy chicken tenders, asked for extra cause and got a whole bag so that was a plus, and also asked for extra hushpuppies in one meal and they delivere. Fried seafood is one of my guilty foods including fish & chips and fried shrimp. Living back in New England, there are plenty of independent seafood shacks which serve up fresh seafood dishes & items, but it can be pricey. Captain D's Seafood is a good place to go for fried & baked seafood at reasonable prices. This Captain D's in Seymour is an older looking fast food restaurant with drive thru offering a variety of seafood (mostly fried/breaded & battered) and chicken meals plus salads, sandwiches, sides, desserts (chocolate cake, cheesecake), Coke fountain drinks (self serve inside), and D's Sweet Tea. 3D Kids Meals also available here. There is ample self serve table and booth seating (red color) in the old school dining room. The prices here are pretty reasonable with meals starting at $4.99. This restaurant chain has similar menu offerings to other fast casual seafood restaurant chains including Long John Silver's and Arthur Treacher's. Before driving to Indianapolis, I stopped at Captain D's for lunch. I ordered The Sampler ($4.99 plus tax) which consisted of 1 pc of fried whitefish, 2 pc chicken tenders, 2 fried shrimp, 2 hush puppies and choice of 2 sides (I got fried okra and steamed broccoli). I was given a number to place on my table and a staff member arrived 5 minutes later with my hot lunch. The long piece of battered white fish was light and crisp on the outside (not too greasy) and very hot inside, as well as the soft breaded chicken tenders. The fried shrimp (2) were crispy. The hush puppies (2) balls were firm on the outside and not salty. The crab shell was filled with a soft seafood stuffing mixture. The breaded fried okra was standard, not too greasy. The broccoli was warm and soft. Overall, the food was pretty good, portion just right, and priced very reasonably, though nothing extravagant. read more

Manager for afternoon on 1/20/2023 was very rude, I thought I ordered a 20 piece shrimp with 2 sides after leaving I realized they only gave me a 10 piece meal, I went back thinking they charged me for a 20 but only gave me 10. I was wrong they did not charge me for a 20 but argued with me, when he should have asked would I like to order another 10 piece meal to make 20 shrimp. Slowest service. Waited an additional 5 minutes after food was finished for someone to finally think about handing it across the counter.

WTH If there are three or more people working in the back of the store why can't one of them filter the oil. I am so weary of trying to pick up something quick to eat and getting food it looks like it's been dropped on the floor picked up and put back on the plate. Really I think we human beings/American citizen/people that have a little bit of pride can do better. I wish I could go to Kroger by some food take it home and cook it but sadly I don't have that luxury with the job I have so I must depend on businesses to cook food for me but it looks like I'll be better off starving myself to death then wasting my time and money to continue to go out to these restaurants that have substandard food! read more

I've not been to Captain D's for some time. I arrived at approx. 12:30 pm, and they were, of course, doing brisk business. They had an employee parked in the front loading tea into her car during the lunch rush. No biggie, but now the front door is a bit of a hazard. The ordering went fine, considering. Even the general manager came out to assist in the ordering. I paid, received my table number and quietly sat down to watch the comical running at the counter. My food came at a good time, what was hot was hot. I had paid extra on a side dish upgrade, I was rather disappointed the okra almost didn't even fill the bottom of the dish it was served in. The coleslaw and beans filled their respective containers. My order, the Catfish platter consisted of several extremely skinny pieces of some sort of fish, really I am not sure of what they were. There was ONE piece of catfish, the others who knows. I'm taking my business elsewhere. I've been a fan of Cap. D's for years, but the Seymour branch has truly soured it for me. read more

Had to repeat my order of Crab cakes, which was on the drive-thru menu,3 times. Asked if there was any sides that went with it and was told I THINK so. I ordered 2 side both of which cost extra, which I already knew and an extra side. I got to the window and had to wait. I thought good! Fresh hot food!. No, I should have checked my bag, no crab cakes or as the person who said was manager said was Salmon cakes anywhere. I call them and he said I'm sorry have a nice day. His name was chip. I started yelling before he hung up and then when I tried calling back they had taken the phone off the hook. I drove back and they wouldn't come to the window and so I call a Mr. Chris Sheffield. It says on their window that he is their are director. Shock! He doesn't answer his phone either. Finally they come to the window, and they make the crab, oops salmon cakes and they are so coated in seasoning and cold in the center that they are inedible!! and cold sides!! yum! Will not be back and will tell everyone I know, that if they want Captain D's go to Columbus! read more
