Hell, I go to Doe's in Monroe every single time I am in Monroe. When I would profess my love for Doe's to my Mississippi friends they would always tell me: "you have to go to the Greenville location. It's the original". I figured they were right but also figured I would never be in Greenville since there are not many things to do there. But 2025 was the year that I finally made it here. We made a special stop on the way to Eureka Springs. It was everything I had hoped and I absolutely loved it. You must know that this is the original location and it is not fancy on the outside or the inside. Parking is mostly on the street and the neighborhood seems a wee bit sketchy. The building looks like an old house from the outside. Needless to say, the kids were skeptical and wondered why their dad drug them here. That continued when we walked in to the kitchen, walked through the other kitchen, and were seated in one of the rooms. One of the kids said: "I feel like I am dining at someone's house". Exactly. This place is famous! All skepticism was washed away when we got our food. A ribeye and fries for me and a fillet and fries for them to share. Both were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and made this Doe's fan grin from ear to ear. It was a great meal I will remember forever. Was it cheap? Definitely not. For two entrees, a beer, and a tea, it was around $200 with a tip. Was it worth it to me? Hell yes. I freakin loved it. Is it worth a drive from New Orleans just to eat here? Probably not. Should you divert a road trip to eat here? Absolutely. By the way, service was exactly as you would expect. Super friendly and we were treated like regulars despite it being our first time. Also, there was a cop working outside so don't be scared.

That steak was supposed to weight 16oz however it was much larger than stated on the menu. The value was amazing! We had loaded baked potatoes and green beans as sides. The green beans were flavorful and fresh. The baked potato was on the smaller side which I actually liked because it's a side not the star. Two other people at our table had the catfish, one blackened the other fried, both excellent. We also indulged in appetizers: Fried Green Tomatoes: absolutely luscious with a creamy crawfish sauce Duck Poppers: spicy, savory goodness Stuffed Mushrooms: delicious blend of cheese and sausage. Well seasoned They had a server call in but let me tell you the lady who was running the front end did not miss a beat! We had 20% auto added due to the party of 6 but left extra, she was wonderful! Loved the atmosphere. Always clean and inviting.

From the exterior, the establishment boasts a wonderfully classic, vintage aesthetic. Stepping inside reveals a uniquely styled interior featuring an extraordinarily impressive array of fine spirits and luxury beverages. The service was top-tier and delightfully attentive from the moment we arrived our host graciously poured drinks for the three of us to begin our meal. I opted for a Blackberry Shrub, which was expertly mixed, incredibly refreshing, and executed to perfection, while my assistant selected her own beverage. For our dining selections, I ordered the Tamale Boudin balls, while my assistant chose the Ribeye. When the dishes arrived at the table, they were nothing short of exceptional boasting a rich, authentic, homemade style that was utterly delicious and deeply satisfying in every respect. What makes Downtown Grille such a remarkable find is that despite its elevated flavors, impeccable service, and sophisticated bar program, it remains delightfully reasonable. Full marks for a marvelous dining experience I shall most certainly be returning!
