Hush puppies were gross. Maybe they needed to change the cooking oil. They were big though.

Daddy Shark - Lobster tail and grilled shrimp

    Daddy Shark

    (6 reviews)

Daddy Shark is a Mexican restaurant branded as seafood and steak…read more Food - They do have a versatile menu. We really enjoyed the appetizer sampler and drinks. The steak and seafood entrees - not so much, but the birria tacos were great. Atmosphere - Casual, ocean or fish themed. It's bright blue. They play country music (the kind you hear at the beachy restaurants) like "5 O'Clock Somewhere." There are a couple of fish tanks in there. The kids thought that was cool. Just about every kid who walked in immediately began singing the "Daddy Shark doo-doo" song. So in that aspect it's kind of cute. Service - OK. No issues. Our waiter was kind. Overall: I made the mistake of thinking, "I don't want to order Mexican at a Seafood & Steakhouse when Clinton has 5011 other Mexican restaurants." I was wrong. You will actually want to do just that.

Daddy Shark - Dinner Visit Went to Daddy Shark this evening…read morewith my wife for dinner. We started with the fried mushroom appetizer, which came out looking a little overdone and dry -- almost like they might have been reheated. They were hot and juicy inside, but I found the mushrooms a bit tough and chewy. My wife liked hers, though, and said they were fine, so maybe I just got a few rough ones. The breading was very crunchy, almost too much so for my taste. For my main dish, I had the ribeye tacos, which came with Mexican rice and something that seemed halfway between refried beans and bean soup -- kind of an odd consistency, but surprisingly it was probably the best thing I had. The ribeye was finely chopped, which made the tacos easy to eat, but it also seemed like a way to hide bits of gristle that were mixed in. The tacos were topped with fresh avocado slices and plenty of cilantro, but overall they were a bit short on flavor. My wife had the Country Salmon, which was cooked well and topped with a creamy spinach and mushroom sauce. She said it was just okay -- not bad, but nothing special. Her side salad could have been better; the tomatoes were barely out of the green stage and would've been better fried than served fresh, since they weren't nearly ripe. The ambiance was definitely unique. There are a lot of Mexican-style dishes on the menu, but the restaurant has an undersea theme -- walls covered in bright cartoon murals of sharks, fish, and octopuses. Very kid-friendly and cheerful. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and our waiter was attentive and efficient, aside from letting my tea glass go empty once. Overall, it was a fair experience. Not bad, but I'll expect more on the next visit -- assuming we come back to try some of their other dishes that might be stronger.

TX paid, but honey I'm definitely MISSISSIPPI raised…read more I was too busy eating for pictures !! Went to Berry's for the lunch buffet and ate good! I ate so much food for a reasonable price. I've had the dinner buffet before and it is really good as well!! Everything was seasoned well. I didn't eat anything that I didn't enjoy. I love how my drink was still cold because of the cup to they serve the drinks in. The ambiance is very family style and it is good for big groups. We had a group of 20 and we were accommodated well. Now here's for the breakdown of the buffet that I can remember. Meats: catfish, pork chops, chicken, blackened catfish, fried liver, bbq chicken, fried shrimp, and pot roast Sides and veggies: greens, black eyed peas, fried okra corn, fried green tomatoes, rice (sorta like a dirty rice), mashed potatoes, yams, hush puppies, mac &cheese, Mexican corn bread, regular corn bread, corn salad, salad bar, pasta salad, etc Desserts: plenty were available. I got the banana pudding and it was tasty Listen, check out Berry's seafood the next time you are in this part of Mississippi!!! They have crab legs during dinner hoursp

Apparently, I still do like buffets. It just has to be in a barn - in Mississippi! I've seen a lot…read moreabout Berry's online and when I realized that it was less than 30 minutes from me, I just had to give it a try. This is seriously, the best buffet I've ever been to. Food: Crab cakes are amazing! Turnip greens, mac n cheese, fried okra, and bang bang shrimp, all were delish! Fried catfish was pretty ok. Could have been a little more crisp - and seasoned. There were so many choices. Saturday night is seafood night. They also had flounder Parmesean, seafood pasta, crawfish etouffee, stuffed crab, fried shrimp, boiled shrimp, and crab legs. There was also steak and chicken tenders on the bar. Steak was good. There were quite a few salads to choose from and dessert as well. Note: You can order from the menu if you don't want the buffet. Service: Good - no issues. Price: About $40 per person for the standard dinner buffet. More if you add the unlimited crab leg option. Atmosphere: Country style buffet. Very southern themed. Waitresses are in overalls, religious decor, and worship music playing over the speaker and on the tvs. I actually appreciated the Maverick City playlist today. It was packed so if you go in the weekend for dinner, be prepared for a wait. There's a lady with a jewelry stand near the waiting area. Parking: If you can't find a spot in the main lot there's an additional parking lot behind the building. Overall: I really enjoyed it - particularly the crab cakes.
