I've been a member of Captain Crossfit since November 2012. Coming fresh out of physical therapy I only went to support a friend who was trying it out. Needless to say...18 months later and they're stuck with me! Through the time I've been there, the box has had lots of changes (class time changes, management, ownership), but one thing has stayed the same...the EXCELLENT coaching staff!!! The WODs, in my opinion, are excellent. They provide variety, challenge, and recovery to each person who comes in the door. The best thing about the workouts is that the coaches are there to support you...EVERY DAY! They answer questions and help when needed. They push and encourage during workouts. I don't know that the box could have a better team as far as coaching staff goes. Above the staff, I will have to say that the other gym members really make the place shine! Many a WOD I've been the last to complete, and here come my friends, who just finished their workout, to finish my workout with me! Exhausted, most likely, they still come back to help and encourage me to finish. They are the true definition of team, and I wouldn't be where I am today without them. I would encourage anyone who has left Captain recently to PLEASE give them another chance. This is a community business and they give back to our community. Facility has a lot to offer. My coach for the time I went was really great as were most of the folks in that class.

Just did a workout her at Captain CrossFit and it was great. Our coach Michelle was very helpful and welcoming. I can't see why anyone visiting town would not want to check this place out. Box is huge and extremely well kept. I've never seen so much equipment. I have to imagine the Athletes here have to be happy. Thanks Capt. for allowing me to drop in and get a great workout! I opened a membership for one month, because I was going back to work outside of the US, and my membership was to auto cancel, instead I kept getting recurring charges for a membership that I was not able to use. One of the owners said that its their policy to not refund. They were not even able to be reached as something is wrong with their main number that is listed on their website and social media, therefore I was not able to contact them until 4 months later which is also when I noticed the recurring charges. This is unacceptable, as a business that claims to support the veteran community I'm incredibly disappointed that the "best that they can do" was to just cancel my membership. read more

I was set to be in Prescott for work, and had resigned myself to using the Hotel gym. When I checked into my hotel I noticed Captain Crossfit was right there! I walked into the gym and met Michelle B who was fabulous signing me up for a drop-in Visit. The next morning I attended a morning class taught by Michelle F, which was a doozy! The class was welcoming, Michelle ran a great class, and the workout was a burner (altitude and humidity are killers). I love this place. Captain Crossfit has changed my perspective on physical fitness. Not only do I have a community that I enjoy being around, I have support and encouragement from my peers. The facility is gorgeous with top of the line equipment. It is always in clean condition. The trainers provide specific feedback and encouragement to get through a workout or improve a lift. I have never had to do the same workout twice which keeps me from getting bored (I commonly get bored with workout regimens). They are starting to offer group classes like Body Pump and a Push Cycling/ Captain Crossfit joint class which I am excited to try out. I don't think I ever dread going in to class- I've even gone just to hang out when I cannot work out. If you like a social friendly environment that becomes your extended family, give Captain Crossfit a try. It has far exceeded my expectations and has boosted my confidence even outside the gym! read more

The new owners (Tony and Janine) are good people, so the "feel" of the place is changing for the better. The rules are still a little unstable (i.e. what is included in a particular type of membership), so it gets confusing, but I'm confident that they will work that out. I have not bought in to the whole Crossfit culture, but I still join in on the fun once in a while. The facilities are great at Captain and they let me go and do my own thing (1 punch on my 10 entry pass). read more

Beware of trying to terminate your membership. You cannot do it by phone, text, or written notice. What's more they require up to 45 days notice, regardless of what their policy says, and do not let them put you on "auto pay". I also never saw anyone clean any of the equipment. And if you're serious about training, do you really want to do so in a daycare atmosphere? read more

Wow. What a difference with Captain Crossfit. I have worked out at regular gyms, spinning and other classes, and awesome boot camps. But the Captain is IT for me. Their facility is huge! Most crossfit boxes are so much smaller. They have lots of great equipment. And most of all, the coaches are top notch! They are knowledgable and fun. They will help me modify any workout if I am worried about aggravating old injuries. And they give thorough instruction and watch us carefully to prevent new injuries. The community feel of the gym is fantastic as well. I really enjoy all the people that work and work out there. It's like a big family. A big shout-out to Janine and Tony as owners. Captain Crossfit has the best trainers equipment and WOD'S. I have rarely had a duplicate workout and the variety is outstanding. I am very glad they don't post their WOD'S ahead of time since the whole point is to have variety and it is easy to skip things you don't like. The trainers are great at modifying moves if you have an old injury to work around. The warm ups are thorough and creative. Followed by strength then on to the WOD of the day. I really appreciate the knowledge of the trainers they take all the time needed to make sure moves are done properly to avoid injury. The box itself and the equipment are unparalleled. I had to ammend my review from a few years ago... This gym has changed hands in the past year and they have come leaps and bounds- the whole energy of the place has shifted. It is cleaner, more well maintained, and the trainers seem happier and more invloved. They have added a wide variety of classes from cardio to stretching and overall, have grealy improved.
