Extremely clean and brightly lit store. Smells like the sea. Has the distinction of having unusual fish along with the typical south Florida favorites (locally caught snapper, tuna, swordfish, group, etc.). I recently have purchased king mackerel and banded triggerfish (recommend both) - have not seen either at other fish markets. Great stone crab claws. Service is excellent, friendly and will give advice. Watch the founder's son on YouTube "Reed the Fishmonger". The man knows his fish! And he couldn't be nicer. read more

What an awesome experience. Watching the guys filet the fish was really fun. Very friendly staff. Wonderful selection of very fresh seafood. We bought swordfish for grilling and it was outstanding. Well worth the visit. (we came all the way from Oregon. Well OK, we didn't come just for this, but it was a highlight of the visit) read more

Incredible, fresh, sweet crab claws. Mustard sauce (3.99) was delicious as well, and I'm pretty picky with that. Inside facility was very clean and had many options of fresh fish, sides/dips, pantry items to choose from. All employees were nice and helpful. We didn't have to wait in line long before someone was helping us. Claws were cracked for us upon request. If you're looking for stone crab claws, this is 100% place to pick them up from! read more

We stopped here for the first time and were quite delighted. The staff is plentiful and helpful. Parking is available out front and around back (and there is a back door). We got some salmon that cooked up beautifully as well as some delicious giant stone crab claws (and their mustard). The prices are a little high but the quality was great. read more

Great service! Fresh fish daily, reasonable prices. They are always willing to help with preparation suggestions.

Back at Captain Clay and Sons again today. I want to warn everyone about their smoked fish dip. Once you have had it here you will never order smoked fish dip at a restaurant or buy it at a grocery store again. This will ruin you forever and you will only want it from here. Seriously, it is that good. Football day on sliced baguette. That's the way to go. Their fish is by far... by far.. the most fresh you will find. There are dudes filleting fresh caught fish to put out while you're deciding what to buy. Can't say enough about how great this place is. Rock shrimp already pealed and deveined?? What?? That's going in a creamy wine butter lemon sauce on top of our fish tonight. Happy birthday to me!! Shop here and thank me later. Or thank the people there. They are spectacular. Staff.... Spot on. Helpful and knowledgeable. They know where to guide you if you want to grill, sauté, pan fry. Whatever. read more

It's been two years since my review and nothing has changed . . . I still visit once or twice a week. In addition to everything I raved about last time let me tell you what's new. In their bigger beautiful place they now have a huge freezer/ refrigerator section with Marky's caviar (and bikinis and crème fraiche) sushi grade salmon and tuna ready for your poke bowl, some veggies and a huge section of pantry items to complement your fish (think rubs, hot sauce, rice dishes, crackers for the amazing fish dip). Heading there now! read more

I went to their new location and it is very nice and even when busy, it doesn't feel crowded like the old location. There is plenty of parking, and the shopping plaza is easy to get in and out of. Once inside, there is so much more than fresh seafood. There are some cold cases/freezers where you can find everything from small jars of caviar to frozen seafood from across the world. On a wall towards the back, there are dry goods used in seafood meal preparations. They also have an area that sells clothing with various designs of the store name and caricatures. I happened to be craving stone crab claws. They were a little pricy for the quality. Yes, they seemed fresh, but for $25.00 for 4 medium claws where 2 were overcooked, I was not very impressed. The service was very nice but nothing special. They cracked the claws upon request to make them easier and cleaner to serve. I got my claw fix and would not get them again, but maybe I would return to purchase some fresh fish, which they have a great variety. read more

This place is awesome. So knowledgeable and incredibly fresh and high quality fish. They turned me on to golden tilefish which I had never had before and it was spectacular. The best local fish. Fresh, fresh, fresh! Huge daily selection. Very helpful staff with selections and cooking tips. Great fishmonger team!

Greatest place of all time. Friendly staff and the best seafood at a great price. You need to check it out!

There's an old adage that says, "good seafood isn't cheap and cheap seafood isn't good." That should be the slogan here, because their seafood is a bit pricey, but it's also IMPECCABLE! Clay Sr catches a lot of the fish they sell himself, and what he doesn't catch, he carefully sources from mostly local fisherman who supply him with the best. His son, Reed is a master with a filet knife, so the fish you get looks beautiful even before you cook it. They often have a long list of local fish you won't find anywhere else, like red grouper, barrelfish, yellow-eye Jack and triggerfish. If you love fresh fish and put quality first, check our Captain Clay and Sons. You won't be disappointed. read more

This place is a family owned neighborhood gem & one of the best local seafood markets in town. They offer ocean-to-table fish. The team fillets their fish in house and you can certainly taste the difference and appreciate the quality. They generally offer what is fresh and local but also have other items as well. For instance, they introduced me to Ora King salmon along with some other great local species. Today was the start of stone crab season so I stopped by to get some fresh stone crabs and fish for dinner. If you are interested in getting fresh fish & more, be sure to stop by. You can also check out their daily story on Instagram to see what's fresh & available. Don't forget to try their homemade fish dip too . It's delicious. read more

Everything here is amazing best fish best service and great prices. Definitely come here for your fish when in the Delray Beach area

After coming here for 7 months now, I still have the same love for this place. I always felt welcomed and now they even call me by my name :). My go to is octopus and they always save me the biggest baby, cause they now that's my favorite. You can even call ahead of time and they will prepare the (seafood) item the way you like it. Octopus is usually 10$ a pound but it is worth the price. It is sold frozen, cleaned and the tentacles are huge and meaty. Smoked fish dip! Today for the first time I tried the smoked fish dip and let me tell you it is delicious. How is mAde is the fish they don't sell it is smoked and combines with different spices to create the most delicious fish dip I've ever had. There no doubt that this is my favorite seafood market. They have fresh catch and a big variety, If you love seafood come and check them out! read more

Two words. Stone crabs! After a word of mouth review and a seafood lover myself, Captain Clays was next on my list! The counter front seafood store can hold just a handful of people...but there service was so fast and pleasant...I was in and out. I went there with one thing on my mind, stone crabs. I got a pound of their large and a pound of their jumbo...obviously with a side of mustard sauce. You can literally taste the freshness of the ocean in these bad boys! They were sweet, rich and delectable. This place is definitely going to be on repeat for me! read more

I like to consider myself a connoisseur of fish markets since I frequent so many different ones. This small location is tucked away on a side street in delray near the farmers market. Lots of jumbo prawns, lobster, stone crabs and clams. Just a clean fresh fish market. read more

Excellent fresh Seafood! Well run business. Always look forward to picking up some great catches for a delicious dinner!

This family-owned local business was fantastic to visit. I was greeted by Reed, Captain Clay's son, as I heard about the place by talking to the owner at the Delray Farmers Market. Oysters are $0.89, and look like great quality. Reed showed me around, explaining how all the fish is from the same day, and what isn't sold is smoked and put in the fridges. Everything was caught in the local oceans by them. Will definitely be coming again. Very impressed overall. read more
