I placed my order, brought my electronica device out onto the terrace and in a few moments a waiter materialized with said plate of deliciousness. Not realizing that the base is potato chips and not tortillas I was a bit skeptical. After digging in these nachos were delicious with bits of pineapple and delectable sauce drizzled all over. I devoured them - seriously thought about getting another order, not because I was hungry but because they were scrumptious. Alas I knew I was going to eat again soon and managed to contain myself. Flatbread Pizza: Above average especially for Disney Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Good Noodles with shrimp: Not joking there must have been 20 shrimp in the dish. Love this quick service location! It is open 24 hours and serves my favorite QS entree- the meatballs! They are both sweet and a bit spicy and so good. They also have noodles, fried rice, salads, burgers, and my sons favorite- a pulled pork sandwich! This was better than I expected it be. Normally I order the noodles at Kona, but there were no reservations. So my nose led me to this place and it did not disappoint. It is set up like a typical Disney Quick Service Restaurant with counter ordering, indoor/outdoor seating, getting your own silverware and drinks, and food being brought to your table. This was a kind of disappointing meal for a restaurant at a deluxe resort (even if it is a quick service restaurant). The interior has a decent amount of seating, but there were lots of tables that were dirty and had not been cleaned. The food was a bit below average for a Disney quick service place. The noodles were overcooked, and the beef tough and dry. We got two small jars of wine as part of the dining plan; the seals on one of the jars was defective resulting in leaked wine in the bag as we carried it back to the room. This review is ONLY for Tonga Toast served in the mornings and Tonga Toast alone. YUMMY! The service was quick--Kona Café was packed but Capt Cook's downstairs had multiple empty tables. I had to come to the Polynesian to try the Tonga Toast and it did not disappoint. You're served a huge bread cube that's dusted with cinnamon sugar on the outside and you cut into it and there's like caramelized bananas and cream inside OMG. Delicious. It's huge so I think you certainly get your money's worth compared to food in the parks. Very filling, might have to split with someone else! Also they have self-serve drink stations so I was able to fill up my water bottles without hassle for a long day at the parks. read more

Super convenient spot for a quick meal, or to fill up your water bottles. You can enter from two different areas: near the pool or through a hallway leading from the main lobby. There is a decent amount of seating inside in 2 areas, as well as patio seating. The ordering area can get a little cramped when it's busy, but things go fast so no big deal. My husband and I visited every day of our trip to fill up our water bottles, but we only dined here twice. We enjoyed breakfast (split the Tonga Toast and a breakfast burrito) and dinner here (Pan Asian Noodles with Chicken - me, and the Pulled Pork Nachos - hubby). The portions were really good for the price, especially the huge order of nachos. Believe the hype: Tonga Toast is sooooooo good! Ask for extra syrup though, the bread absorbs one container of syrup like a sponge. The dining room was well kept; there were always clean tables and everything was well stocked. They have a number of cold items for sale in the cooler including a cold noodle salad I wish I had seen before I ordered my other noodle dish. We will definitely be back! read more

For quick service, this place is great. It's not to be compared with table service at Disney but I really enjoyed the breakfast. I also like how you can ask for vegan options for most of the items, even the Tonga Toast that you can get at Kona Cafe, without the reservation or long wait. You order at the counter and they give you a buzzer; they even bring the food to your table. When you order vegan, they bring it out in a black to-go box to specify allergy. Ours came out missing the vegan sausage but they kindly gave us one when we went back to the counter to let them know. Overall, I'm glad we chose to eat breakfast here because it's a lot less cheaper than Kona Cafe, it's quicker and you don't have to make a reservation. Win, win, win. My only complaint was the potatoes in the Plant-Based Breakfast Power Bowl; they definitely were not done all the way. The dish itself was really good though. We decided to split that and the tonga toast and it was a lot of food. The 'scrambled eggs' were so realistic, my husband couldn't tell. After three days of eating at Disney, this was the only terrible/inedible meal we had. My sister has a timeshare and Polynesian is her home resort, so she wanted to stop here for dinner on our way back to the car (after 3 days at the parks). We figured we'd embraced the island-style cuisine and ordered two entrees to split: the pulled pork fried rice and pan asian noodles with chicken. The entrees arrived in cute packaging and looked decent. Upon splitting them onto two plates, I could quickly tell this was super low-quality, proceed food. I know, I know, for $10 what did I expect? Well...I expected something that didn't taste like it was pulled out of a freezer three years after the last pig existed on earth. It tasted so old and stale, like it had been frozen for years. The pork and egg in the rice were grey colored and inedible. The noodles were drenched in the cheapest tasting generic "Asian" sauce. The chicken in the noodles had fake grill marks on it, like you'd see at Burger King. Honestly, I don't eat at chain restaurants and Burger King would've been better. I am a WDW passholder and I know there are decent quick service options, but this isn't one of them. This place is worse than Panda Express. In fact, Capt Cooks makes Trader Joe's fried rice and chow mein taste like Ruth's Chris. If you have to eat here, avoid the Island entrees and order a burger! At least all Disney burgers taste the same. read more

Their breakfast offers are fairly standard, including a platter that includes a Mickey waffle, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, etc. Things get kicked up a notch at lunch when the menu transform into a more Polynesian vibe. Seared Chicken Breast, Thai Coconut Meatballs, Pan Asian Noodles, Aloha Pork Sandwich, hot dogs, and Polynesian Salad make up the menu - plus other items. It's a good spot to hit up on your way to the parks. OVERALL: I give Captain Cooks Three CHEERS out of Five. At the end of the day it's still overpriced, over hyped Disney food in an area with limited seating. But it's good for a quick breakfast or lunch. read more

Well, we went here for breakfast based on pretty decent reviews and a pretty high end resort. The first thing we noticed was that they disdn't keep the tables clean as 4 open tables were dirty so we were forced outside into the heat. The food arrived and I immediately noticed the scrambled eggs were instant and very mushy, not good! We were happy they had turkey bacon, but it was just average. The sausage was ok, but my french toast slice tasted like stale bread, bad! My date had the Tonga toast which was a brick of fried bread stuffed with gushy bananas which was overly sweet and hard to finish. It also didnt agree with her. The go to place for your resort mug, and the only place to find a quick service meal at this resort. This equation equals to a hot chaotic mess in the mornings and early evening when everyone and their mother is trying to order breakfast or dinner. A quick tip if you have a Disney dining plan is if you want to save one of your quick service meal entitlements you can share your breakfast burrito with a family member. The breakfast burrito comes with one snack included and the portion is nice for two (and the burrito is conveniently cut in half) this way you can save the extra quick service entitlement for a lunch later in your day. As far as the staff, this place lacks that disney charisma and we even had issues with staff attitude. For the hefty price tag of staying here I expect more. I think if there were more counters or egen a second quick service meal restaurant it would help the crazy flow of people in the mornings and evenings. read more

We discovered Captain Cook's in our never-ending quest to find better breakfast food in the realm of Disney World. A lot of the breakfast options at the resorts are less than stellar, but this spot at the Polynesian resort is a highlight. They have most of the usual cold-case, cereal and cold case suspects - as well as two standouts that qualify as quick-service meals on the Disney Dining plan. The first standout is the Bounty Breakfast - Scrambled Eggs with Bacon, Sausage, Breakfast Potatoes, French Toast, and a Biscuit. A true bounty! Better yet, you can mix and match some of the sides with fruit etc (and even proteins IIRC) if you're not into all those carbs (we did that). This is a great value, and the quality and portions are excellent. The second standout is the Tonga toast, which is banana-stuffed Sourdough Bread, Battered and Deep-fried, and dusted with Cinnamon Sugar. I think it also comes with a protein or a side option, but THIS is why we opted for no carbs with the Bounty breakfast. It's a HUGE chunk of delicious cinnamony banana goodness! I think the menu at the counter said it was french-toast sourdough, but it seemed a bit dry for that to me. In fact, that's the one drawback, it ends up being a lot of bread and is somewhat dry - but generous applications syrup and butter took care of that! We experienced typical friendly Disney service and good atmosphere at the lovely Disney Polynesian resort. I'd have to say that this is one of my favorite quick service restaurants at Disney World. I spend a lot of time at the Polynesian resort as a local because why not, but with the current situation with COVID-19 and the on going construction at the resort, there are very limited food options. Pre COVID, my husband and I would stop in at the Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace for a beverage and get the pulled pork nachos from Captain Cook's. The chips they use are really good along with the pork, which seems to be of higher quality than the majority of the quick service restaurants at Disney World. I love the pineapple salsa they use as well. My husband isn't a fan, but he overall doesn't like pineapple so that's the only reason why. We have even substituted rice instead of chips (rice, pork, cheese, pineapple salsa) and it is so good! Disney will do this substitution free of charge! Even if you're not staying here, it's very easy to get over to the resort via boat (or monorail when the construction is complete) to enjoy Captain Cook's instead of the lackluster food options available with-in the Magic Kingdom park. Prices are typical for theme park food, but (in my opinion) Captain Cook's is a better value than any other quick service in that Magic Kingdom vicinity. We will for sure be back (again). read more

Probably one of the best quick serve spots I've been to at Disney! Their shrimp noodle bowl was delicious! Packed with tons of flavor, TONS of shrimp and great price!! For about $10 I got a bowl of noodles and about 10 or more shrimp!! They definitely do not skimp out on the shrimp which was great! The dish can be slightly spicy but there is a hint of sweetness as well making it a great dish especially for quick serve! Okay first of all, nicest freaking staff ever! Thanks Nick! So my friends and I stayed in the Art of Animation Resort and by the time we had decided we wanted Dole Whip, it was cutting it close to the time the buses stop running. We went for it anyway, we took a bus to Downtown Disney, then a bus to the Polynesian. When we went into Captain Cook's, they informed us that this was one of the only nights they weren't going to be serving Dole Whip for 24hrs and we had just made it 5 minutes before it shutting down! Oh my! Nick told us how to build our Dole Whip and we failed so he happily helped us and built a beautiful lookin' Dole Whip masterpiece! So delicious a mix of pineapple and vanilla. HEAVEN! To top it off, we were hoping to catch the last bus of the night back to Downtown Disney but the bus driver took us back straight to our hotel instead. Boy was it a lucky night!! read more

When I was at Walt Disney World we walked around the Polynesian Resort after our meal at the Spirit of Aloha dinner show and happened to stumble upon this little quick service spot simply known as Capt. Cook's. At first glance this small spot seems pretty basic and doesn't offer too too much that some of the other resort hotels don't w/ the exception of two things- the Tonga Toast and the Dole Whip. I heard the Tonga Toast was quite tasty, but unfortunately that had to wait for a future visit. I DID however partake of the Dole Whip. Ok, so I go to Disneyland in Anaheim a lot, so I am quite familiar w/ just how tasty the Dole Pineapple Whip can be. Well, in Orlando the only two places in all of WDW to get this are at Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom and at Capt. Cook's. I know, some Disneyland peeps might b like "so what? We get that all the time! Big deal 'cause we take it for granted!" Well, to that I say "sew buttons". BUT, what if I told all my Disneyland peeps that there was something about the Dole Whip at Capt. Cook's that would make them jelly? Well, here it is- IT'S SELF SERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET AS MUCH AS U WANT LIKE A PINEAPPLE CRAVING FATTY DING-DONG!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, self serve Dole Pineapple Whip or Whip swirl (vanilla and pineapple). Simply pay the cast member @ the register or use a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan and u will b handed a small bowl to fill 'er up. Food: I tried the mahi mahi and meatball. They were okay because the portions were small. Dessert: They no longer had the Dole whip when I went in late May 2014. When staying at the Polynesian it's inevitable you will end up here at some point if not many. As for quick service it's not bad and some dishes are above board but there's a great divide between the good and bad. For breakfast I stick to banana, bacon(always kinda soggy) and croissant. The breakfast sandwich is decent but I've never tried other dishes. As for lunch/dinner the noodle dish is a winner and very similar to a $22 dish served at Kona. The burger is standard Disney burger ok. The beef and cheese is bad very very bad. The Nachos are repulsive. Overly greasy wonton chips, cloyingly sweet salsa, bland pork, gritty tasteless cheese and gross mayo I asked them to leave off but didn't. I hate these but if this sounds appealing to you they are also available at the upstairs lounge. The best thing I did have here is the currently famous Rose Gold Minnie Cupcake. And the biggest thing to note is that Dole whip is served here. That's right, you can get Dole whip here. And you can get it as a twist (pineapple and vanilla). It's self-serve and you can fill the cup as high and full as you want. (And you might as well since it's a flat cost, not a weight-based cost.) This is a 24 Hour Food Option at the Polynesian hotel. And a hot food is served from 6:30 AM to 11 PM where you can get menu items cooked to order. If you come at other times, there are prepackaged foods in the refrigerator you can buy such as fruit, sandwiches, sushi, alcoholic beverages and cookies and Jell-O. There is also potato chips and other options for sale. For the Disney meal plan, this counts as counter service. The staff working here is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast food is average. For the most bang for your buck, I would recommend the breakfast platter which is a dollars and $8.49. This maximize your meal plan dollars. For dinner, the adult food is actually decent. Seating is usually not a problem unless you come at peak times. The all you can drink cup is good for the duration of your stay and is tied to a microchip on the bottom of the cup. The cup cost $16.49 and is included in the basic meal plan. Alcoholic beverages are not included in the basic meal plan. A mini bottle of mediocre red wine is $11 here. Do yourself a favor and go to the market on the second floor of the hotel and get a real bottle of wine for $15 (Beringer or Kendall Jackson). read more

Although I originally wanted to try the Tonga Toast for breakfast, we ended up eating a quick dinner here instead, which turned out to be pretty good! We ordered the Shrimp & Veggie Stirfry Noodle Bowl, and it was quite affordable for the amount of food received. The baby corn in it didn't have that typical "soap" taste if you know what I mean. Shrimp was juicy and noodles were not soggy. Impressed! The Thai Coconut Meatballs were decent as well. Keep your expectations low for authenticity and you'll be pleasantly surprised. read more

This was my first time dining at Capt. Cooks and I was surprised by the way you order. I don't know how to explain, but compared to other quick service restaurants at some of the other resorts, the queue and registers seemed to be positioned awkwardly and the entire process was a little confusing to me. The menu was unique and I decided on the Pulled pork nachos. They were topped with cheese, onions, spicy mayo, tomatoes, and pineapples. I didn't realize that you are given a pager and then seat yourself. My order came out quickly and it was way more food than I expected. Right off the bat, the flavors were good. It is a unique dish that I would order and share with a group of people. I will say that I was not really a fan of the pineapple chunks like I thought I would be and was glad to see that the spicy mayo was not too spicy. I did have an issue with my order and had to have it replaced and the manager replaced my meal for me right away. He even offered to comp my meal, but I politely declined.
