This is a wonderful spot near Reedville, and although the fish factory smell can be a bit overwhelming every now and then, this place has most of the basics--new bathhouse, washer and dryer, electric and water hookups. The pump out looked a bit suspect and there's no fuel dock, but those missing pieces don't detract from the friendly and welcoming environment. My wife and I bought a boat from Louis and Sonia in spring 2019 and we are very thankful that we did. When we decided that we wanted to buy a boat, one of our requirements was to buy a boat from someone that we could trust and someone that would continue to be there for us after we bought a boat. Obviously buying the right type of boat was the most important, but since we are first time boaters this was important to us. One day my family decided that we check out key west boats at Garrett's. Up until this point we had been looking at every dealership in the area and wanted a center console boat, narrowed it down to a few models. We spent a entire day at the marina looking at boats, did a sea trial, and ended up buying a key west center console. During the entire sales process, Louis was a straight shooter. He went over everything about our boat, what we need and don't need and what not to waste our money on. The boat buying process was simple and Louis and Sonia took care of us during the entire process. The day we picked up our boat we did a sea trial and Louis went over everything about the boat. I felt comfortable and later that day we drove our boat out of the marina and continue to love our key west! I still call and email Louis all the time with questions and he promptly returns my phone calls, even after hours!!!! Unless you have months to wait for your boat and have no regard for your money go someplace else…read more There are many boaters who do drop off their boats for six months and are happy to spend excessively on boat maintenance but if this is not what you want do not go to this business. There is not much competition in the area and I have gone here twice. Both times were for 2 week or less jobs that ended up being over 2 months. Rain, holidays, sick employees are all excuses for delayed work. This is an hourly business and a task that should take one or two hours will appear on the invoice as a ten or twelve, or more, hour tasks. Tasks where a power tool could be used will be done with a hand tool. Think hack saw instead of reciprocating saw and picture two employees operating the hacksaw at one time. It really happened! Your boat will be dirty, inside and out, when you finally get it back. Vendors who come in to do wax and bottom jobs are good and work very quickly and use time saving electric and pneumatic tools. Check everything before leaving. Look for tools and parts in the bilge. Check that everything works correctly like bow thruster pushes in the right direction and not rigged backwards. The invoice has been a jaw dropper both times. About a 30% charge above whatever a generous estimate would be for the work. The hour totals are unbelievable, if true then there is a very serious time management issue or there are integrity issues. I checked progress on the boat every other day based on my first experience and did not see the effort match the hours on the invoice. Little to no communication re the pace or work unless you initiate it. The yard is organized and customers are allowed to work on their boats while here, which is nice, but your boat will be there for a long time. Address every issue, delay, or questionable time management and status of your invoice frequently during the process because once the invoice is written the owner is not open to a discussion and will resort to the old chestnut "if I give you a discount, then do I have to give everyone a discount" as a response to a question about charging 24 hours of work to remove one part. Avoid this business if you plan to boat in the same year you want to get work done.

This Inn was absolutely phenomenal. I can't recommend it enough…read more Initially, everything is beautiful and clean. While there, I saw them dusting the window eaves. There are free snacks, sodas, and high-end coffee in your room, and lots of other little treats too. And the nature surrounding the Inn is immaculate. I spent every night on my balcony under the stars, surrounded by lush vegetation and gorgeous water. Beyond the rooms, the facilities are nice. There's a small, but beautiful beach, as well as a small area to swim in the "creek" (the creek is more of a river, and it all feeds into the Rappahannock). There's a boardwalk that rings around the property (which is where I spotted plenty of fish and a crab. And of course, the resort's star attraction, thousands of oysters, which you can join a program to shuck them). They have a marina and are even doing plane rides now. There's an art room offering all sorts of project from paint to clay. It's also a short walk into town and the handful of local restaurants. Finally, an excellent instructor taught me and a few friends how to play pickleball. He was patient and encouraging... while also kicking our butts when we played him LOL! The food was good, with some of the best mushroom ravioli I've had. The bartenders were all nice and engaging, making all sorts of drinks. They have a sommelier on site that runs the wine and liquor program. They also had an exquisitely buttered soft pretzel that I loved. I really appreciated that, on my last day, I asked if I could go on their afternoon boat ride. They said they usually required 24 hour notice, and nobody else had signed up. Nonetheless, they accommodated me and I basically got a private boat tour for group prices (yay for Wed. afternoon availability). I had a fun afternoon exploring the creek and river. To be honest, this level of excellent quality is a rarity in older hotels like this. I've been to more than a few and have, more often than not, found them to have let space deteriorate, provide inconsistent amenities, and uninspired food. Which is absolutely not the case here. Good food, great rooms, service, and amenities, and phenomenal views. A true 5 star stay!

Napped and then went to the pool bar for lunch and beers. Breakfast was great both days, the crab omelet was great. The dinner menu was a little too fine dining for me, but there are local places you can get to within a few minutes. The crowd when we visited was older and really really white. I don't know if that was a function of the day/date timeframe or the cost, we got a discounted via Amex but it was pretty weird that 100% of the guests were white and 98% of the staff wasn't.
