Billy is probably the most knowledgeable fisherman on the bay and has written monthly fishing articles for the Rivah magazine for years. He'll get you on the fish! I've personally stayed in all three of their onsite rental properties and can't say enough how much we enjoy our stays. Having a boat ramp, fuel, and access to some of the best fishing grounds right at your back door, makes for an enjoyable visit that allows us to concentrate on what we love - fishing and boating.... This is a wonderful spot near Reedville, and although the fish factory smell can be a bit overwhelming every now and then, this place has most of the basics--new bathhouse, washer and dryer, electric and water hookups. The pump out looked a bit suspect and there's no fuel dock, but those missing pieces don't detract from the friendly and welcoming environment. This is the place to go if you need a fast and easy overnight slip just off the Potomac down by the river and bay confluence. Well done Jennings Boatyard!

They shuttled us into the Chesapeake Bay and got us on fish very quickly. Each veteran took turns reeling in Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel. We could not have asked for better weather or seas. The fishing was so good we limited on bluefish by 1045 and missed our limit on mackerels by one. We cannot wait to work with Captain Billy and his team again.

We stayed here as part of an RV event over Labor Day Weekend. I had never been to an event like…read morethis before and was a little shocked when informed that we would be boon-docking. We ended having a great time and will likely do again (with more planning and preparation). As for the site, Coles Point looks like it's past it's expiration. It's right off the Potomac River (great!), but it needs a lot of work. There must of been nearly 100 RV units on this property, all boon-docking. (1) The bathroom facilities need to be upgraded (2 showers per sex), the water pressure was non-existent, and the showers were not cleaned. The water was hot, at least. My husband said the door on the men's shower did not even close properly (the door was too big!). I did not look into the toilet/sink section. (2) The storefront needs more supplies. They had some fishing tackle, but no fishing line. A few snacks, but no basic staples that an RV'er might need: oil, sugar, salt, paper towels, paper plates, etc. They did appear to sell lots of ice. I would suggest propane too. (3) Someone said the restaurant used to be a big thing. Now closed. We went to Walmart and was a 45-min trip one-way. There is nothing in the area to eat or drink for miles. If available, I'm sure the RV'ers would gladly spend their money so as to not leave, but with no offerings, there is not much to recommend the resort. (4) Due to the size of the event, planning should have been done to provide additional dumpsters to accommodate the amount of trash that was generated or have a mid-event dumpster pick-up. All the dumpsters were overflowing when everyone pulled out. (5) The actual campground. People have been living there and in all such places, it begins to look run-down. It was described to me as "ghetto". People who camp don't generally want to RV beside people who live in an RV park as it becomes truly "lived in", especially in a expensive unit. It was overgrown, the structures were falling apart or needed to be painted, and it looked "bad". I hope to see changes if we return next year, which we hopefully will. Good luck to the new owners because the site can be great for travelers.

The new restaurant, The Captains Lounge, is so much better. I recommend both the grilled wings and the steamed shrimp. They also have new pizza oven. And, they were really accomodating, adding NA Beers to their supply for those us that are looking for a healthier alternative. It really is nice having a place to eat on this part of the Northern Neck and you cant beat the view.

Live entertainment was greatly appreciated; the singer was good but way too loud. We had to shout to be heard at our table near the back. When asked to turn down the volume, it appeared to increase. We question why in such a small room any amplification is needed. The food was good but uneven. The puppy drum was the hit of the evening. The pecan pie suffered from lack of pecans. The chef's rendition of French onion soup was puny and missed the mark. The carrot side dish was heavenly. Service was attentive and professional. Dishes were removed promptly. It was unclear why no effort was made to bus the other tables. After guests deparated, we were left sitting in a sea of messy tables. We will give them a few months to get established and try again.
