Let me just say this place is ancient, my grandmother raves about this place and she's no spring chicken! But onto the review, I've not been let down here the wait staff are really friendly! The food is like homemade foods so they are hearty and tasty as hell! They have a little grill booth thing so you can see them cooking the steaks and meet which is kinda neet? I usually get a pizza and they are to die for! They steaks are prepared expertly! Pros -tasty foods -friendly staff -cozy feel Cons -old and kinda showing its age -parking is torture read more

Wow what a trip into the past, very old decoration but nice and clean. The pizza more than made up for it, it was a great tasty pie! Our waitress was very nice and friendly. read more

I'm leery of giving 5-star ratings, as I believe any business can be reasonably expected to improve in some aspect of its performance. That is not the case with the Capri, as I cannot think of any area in which my experiences there could have been made better. I lived in an apartment nearby for 10 years and have dined there at least 25 or 30 times in the last 15 years, with a number of different companions, including dates, old friends, and business associates. Whatever the situation, the experience had been enhanced by the setting. The menu is what one would expect at a steak and pizza place; the portions are appropriate - compare to chain places like the Keg, where frozen french fries are doled out of plastic bags and distributed by volume on plates too large for their contents. The offerings include a little something to please everyone, meat, pasta, seafood, with a grill behind glass so you can see dinner being prepared fresh. I've personally sampled the steaks, which are also done exactly to order, pasta, and pizza, and all have been very good. I'm a big fan of the house salad dressing. All wait staff I have experienced have been experienced, friendly, and attentive - without being annoying. The restaurant is clean and well-laid out, nicely lit with an ambience and intimacy to the surroundings. Perhaps if one was to look for a concern, it would be the smallish parking lot in the rear, but parking is free, and I have never been unable to find a spot. Prices are also what one would expect from a restaurant a step up from Denny's, but the experience was always worth the little bit extra. read more

I ordered the spaghetti with a side of ceaser salad the spaghetti noodles were not cooked proper and the meal came out cold. The ceaser salad had no bacon no croutons and the lettuce was starting to go bad. read more

The main reason the Capri has been at their location for more than 30 years is because their food is great and reasonably priced. They are much more than just pizzas. Their steaks and pastas and other dishes are superb. The T bone steak is one of the best in town. The service matches the food. read more

Our delivery order was excellent! The calamari had a nice little spice kick to it and very tender considering delivery. We asked for honey garlic sauce for dipping on the side for our rib appetizer, and we got actual home-made honey and garlic dip, and it was AMAZING! We have finally tasted the garlic in a honey garlic dipping sauce! Big thanks for making it and making it very good, along with the fast delivery. read more

Have had pizza delivered for over 20 years; yet tonight I was treated like I had the bubonic plague! Delivery guy arrives in hazmat outfit because the phone order bimbo told him to wear mask and gloves. And suggested we had the Virus!! Haven't been out if country nor symptoms of flu or COVID 19. Yet treated as if I i should be on medical life support. Andy - as an owner we have always supported you and your small business in our community. May you rot in the plague you inspired by the bimbo and driver of the delivery. Food was cold and tasteless. May skip the dishes or other gig industry put the arrow into your demise. Don't bother with this small business they can reap what they sow! read more

We really miss going out these days. So we're doing a lot of take out. Our favorite take out right now is Capri. My wife enjoys their pizza. I like their Greek ribs, and their lamb chops are really awesome. Their stuffed baked potatoes are as good as any high end steal house. Food always comes fairly hot. When we want to treat ourselves, we call Capri. read more

Chris and Andy and all the staff make this place a little hidden gem. Their food is Amazing - definitely very cool spot, where your steaks are grilled right in front of you on an open flame. Whether you are looking for a relaxing sports pub atmosphere or a fine dining experience, the Capri has both. Thanks for everything you guys, keep it up!! read more

A great selection of pizza, pasta, salad, ribs, and steak items. The food is delicious and the service is good. Prices are reasonable and worth the value. I was quite satisfied with my meal and so was our entire party. Bar adjacent to - at Andy's Lounge. read more

Soaking wet lettuce in the salad, couldn't order some items from the menu. Nothing spectacular, food was less than par. Won't go back.

I don't know how this place gets good reviews! The place is a dump - the carpet and seating looks like its been there since the place opened. Overheard the owner yelling at his staff and he is extremely rude to customers. The food is terrible, and overpriced. How is this place still open?? That's the million dollar question. Will NEVER go back!! read more

I've been going to Capri for years and love their steaks and stuffed potatoes. Last Tuesday was a miserable experience. They were understaffed. Poor waitress who was amazing was working both the pub and restaurant. My food took a long tine to arrive abs when it did they vegetables were cold and my steak was overcooked. Couldn't get the waitresses attention as she was so busy. When she did take the steak back the kitchen would not make me another steak unless I chose a cheaper cut. I asked them to take it off the bill and left hungry. Do not impressed with the kitchens decision. read more

The Capri became one of my favourites years ago - too many to mention! The food is consistently delicious, fresh, and you get lots of it. I've never found a hair or anything unwanted (very clean). I've also taken lots of people and everyone loves it, saying they will return. Chris and his attentive, friendly staff are awesome, and remind you what great customer service is. Doesn't matter what you order, you won't be disappointed. Even with delivery this place is absolutely one of Calgary's finest! read more

A good low-key steakhouse with a somewhat dated feel that seems charming, as places like this are disappearing from the Calgary landscape. I had a New York steak that was quite good and priced fairly, although I really was looking forward to the t-bone, which I initially ordered but was told they were out of stock. The service was prompt and friendly and unpretentious. Watch out for the guy out back making sure people going to other businesses near by don't park in the Capri lot, at first I thought he was a panhandler. read more

I have eaten here many times. The food is always great. But today I ordered my food and waited over an hour and when I called to follow up they said they did not have my order. I'm very disappointed as they never offered to make it right. Now I'm left hungry as re-ordering would take another 45 minutes which puts my food here way too late in the evening. read more

This place lost all charm & pride in their service, food, and atmosphere. The past 5 years it has really gone down hill. It is filthy in there. Staff are ragged and uninterested and don't give you what you order - crazy! Here are my past two experiences: Awful. Sit down: not busy and our food took an hour to come out. Server was uninterested and got both orders wrong. It was just pasta and salad. Delivery- the owner apparently took my call. Disconnected me as he was too busy to take the order. I called back. A lady took my order and gave it to the same guy who hung up. He called me to confirm, and yelled at me when i asked for the total charge. asked for his name, he would not give it to me and yelled "you want your order? You won't get it from me today!!!" Really shocking and terrible experience. read more

I've been coming here for 30 years with my family. The steak is excellent. The costs are not. They are getting worse, and zero substitutions are allowed (example: upgrade to a Caesar, etc) Example: came with a buddy a month ago, had one beer each, a steak and a Caesar salad. Bill: $115.00 to me that's expensive. Came with family yesterday, had an appy of deep fried zuccini. It came on a small plate, 6 tiny 1/4 pieces of zuccini. Cost: $10.00. I realize it's fall in Alberta but, c'mon, zuccini is 91cents a pound at superstore this week- why such frugal servings? Called next day because I was wondering if there was new ownership- and wanted to discuss reasonably about my dissatisfaction with the owner. No, not new ownership, but reached a very defensive and quickly verbally aggressive man with an Italian accent. I started out politely, but he quickly said: you don't like it- you don't come here. Matador pizza is much cleaner (and the seats are not covered in 35 years of grime and hair oil) and Nicks pizza and steakhouse has much better service. If you are not happy at either of these places, they actually have the business skills to make it right. Save your money, I highly recommend either of those two. Customer service is important. read more

Order take out from here regularly. Baked lasagna and Andy's Special pizza are both great. Delivery is fast.

I have gone there with people on a number of occasions for dinner and drinks to accompany our meetings / get togethers. One time not many people ordered much more than tea and the next time I came in I was berated by the manager about having meetings there and that he has to pay staff to serve me and the group I came with I was so caught off guard and upset I almost wanted to leave despite being hungry and planning on buying food as I usually had over the last few times I had gone. I will avoid this restaurant in the future and will no longer suggest it as I had in the past. The wait staff on the other hand is fantastic and so kind and pleasant. Personal pizzas are pretty good but I have such a sour taste on my mouth that I would rather spend my money else where and will plan future meet up's with friends in other venues. read more

we had a birthday dinner here. The steak came out slathered in sauce. There was something off about the steaks. I think the owner is keeping them for way too long, to the point where they are almost rotting. THE only plus is that there is a window to watch your steak being fired. The chef couldn't seem to cook a steak, which is a big problem across almost any kitchen. If the chef isn't using a thermometer to get exact temperatures, and then learning that technique for 20+ years, they arn't going to miraculously put out perfect steaks everytime. We ordered a medium and welldone, the medium came rare, and the weldone came medium. I know this exactly because i only cook steaks with disposable or electronic thermometers, checking temperatures uniformly throughout a steak, I've done it enough to know exactly what a steak looks like when its cooked to 'medium' temperature, and to 'welldone' temperature, rare who cares, sear it and eat it if you like rare, or just eat the meat raw, why bother going out, go get a steak and throw it in a dog dish, dont even use your hands. So the rare was so putrid, I could barley chew a bite of it. And I asked for it to be redone. They just tried cooking it more on the grill, I told them no, to make a new one. Dumb owners dont understand that if you dont lose some money they will never correct the issue, even if it took all day and night i'd tell them to make new ones. When the 2nd one came back, it was actually done properly, but was half the size, seems they dont know how to cook a steak or what proportions people ordered. I'll never be going back. The only good thing I ate was the veggies(bland) garlic bread (butter on toast) and the zuchini (breaded zuchini deep fried) read more

Four stars? Really? All the reviews here rave about Capris (can restaurateurs regulate their reviews on yelp, cause that would explain it). Not gonna lie, the steak was awesome. The prime rib was an overcooked slab of roast beef drenched in sticky, over-salted gravy. The starter salad is watery lettuce and (literally) two slivers of dried out carrot. Like most family-owned restaurants, the owners loiter and visibly bully the wait staff. The food is so exorbitantly overpriced I almost walked out. I stayed because my friend sent me here for "the best steak ever". Esthetically the place is a total dump. read more

We were underwhelmed from the start. The atmosphere was a little dark, the waitress was pretty strung out and surly. Two of us ordered prime rib, $29 each. I ordered peppercorn sauce (add $4) which tasted like cheap wine strained through cigarette ashes and boiled. Instead of a tossed salad, I asked for a caesar salad and was informed by the waitress it would be a half portion only - which was fine. The food was ok. I've had better prime rib at most other restaurants in Calgary that serve it. At checkout time, we were shocked to discover my half portion side salad cost $10.25 (where a full, appetizer caesar salad is $13). I took it to the waitress who curtly informed me she'd told me it was a half portion! She didn't understand that wasn't my problem and when I said she should tell people there is a SIGNIFICANT up-cost, she mumbled something about the boss. I'll never be going back. I'd recommend you avoid as well. read more

I haven't had Capri in years, but from what I remember it was very good! My parents used to take me here when I was a little girl, I'm going to go to this restaurant again soon and will update my review on it. I'm sure it will stay the same (or maybe even get 5 stars) who knows! read more

It's unfortunate but I do have to agree with Steph M. I have been eating in and taking out from Capri for literally years. I live in the area, the prices are reasonable, and the variety is great for sure, but things have been going down hill for quite some time. I would agree with the 5 yr mark another yelper spoke to. I live literally 4 blocks away yet ordering in was the service I've been using 90% of the time. I just have a hard time eating in a place that has chosen NOT to give the place a fresh paint job since the 'no smoking' law came into effect. The old décor is one thing, but the unsightly dirt makes me lose my appetite. It's nothing a fresh paint job and a good scrub down wouldn't fix. Any dining/lounge business SHOULD invest in a good upgrade to their atmosphere. It keeps people coming. It shows us it's cared for. Takes a few bucks to make a few bucks. An old but true cliché. I was happy to hear the last few calls that the girls working the floor have manners. and do smile when they answer the phone. There was a few years there when just the ordering process turned me off. When you call in to place and order and you feel like your intruding. Or the gal really didn't know how to take a phone in order - didn't confirm what you ordered or didn't ask for your address you had to offer it, left me wondering if my order would make it to the kitchen at all. The biggest issue was with the delivery experience itself. This says a lot considering your order would come incorrectly EVERY SINGLE TIME! In our case, we always ordered a pizza with a few side items. Not rocket science from call to delivery, yet for some reason then, the employees' just didn't have interest in doing it right and doing it well AND IT SHOWED. Fom the summer of 2012 forabout 1 1/2 yrs, , the situation was: I lived in a tri-plex. My apartment entrance was to the left of the main door. With my outside light on it was very easy to spot from the road. The couple in the front apartment ordered from Capri more than I did and we BOTH had infants.( important to add) Mine was 2 at the time and theirs was brand new. Quite often when an order was placed we had to give direction such as - pls call when driver pulls up so we can go to the car - pls call so I can open the door as ringing or knocking would wake the baby. It didn't matter HOW hard we stressed it, the guy just never got it right! I cant count how many times I would order and he would knock HER door. I still recall one time my order took almost 2 hrs to get. I called and driver left a long time ago. He decided to drive the other pizzas first, mine last. By the time I did get it it was terribly cold. I called to complain, but nothing was done.. Not even an apology as it was my fault somehow. I could go on about this driver but lastly, if I didn't tip him I would get the RUDEST glance. If they got it right just once I would have celebrated but there was either the wrong ingredients or stuff missing. It was so bad near the end I demanded he go back ad get the side order. He said he would, but ever came back. Again, phoning did nothing as the gal on the phone blamed the driver, of course visa versa when he was at the door delivering half the order. (ok THAT statement was a little exaggerated) Needless to say I boycotted Capri for over a year. ( please see my other review for an recent comment) read more

Can I give this restaurant a 0 ? I wish. We went there to Capri's for lunch at noon. I have to say NOT IMPRESSED. I ordered steak and it was okay but my friend ordered chicken fettuccini. They didn't have the sauce so they offered her butter. It wasn't good at all. She told them that. They found another sauce to give her but it wasn't very good. She barely had 2 spoonfuls of this $19.75 chicken fettuccini. When the host came back we told her she didn't care for it. They still felt the need to charge us full price for the food she never ate. A little discount would have been nice. They don't care! She was entitled to soup (IF she ate it there) but she was not allowed to take it with her as it was complimentary, they said. Ridiculous!!! They obviously are not caring about the customer experience and are just looking for their almighty dollar. WOULDN'T EAT HERE AGAIN if you paid me and I will re-post this comment every month. --Hungry-- read more

My daughter was scouting out affordable steak and ribs places and came across Capri. She browsed the menu and found her pesco-vegetarian tastes could be accomodated with grilled fish and her GodDad's craving for 'a good steak or maybe ribs' would be accomodated as well! So I went ahead and made the reservations. Lucky we did! from 7 - 8 on a Friday night the place was packed. In fact, our Honoured Birthday guest was impressed that they got there a little early and the owner popped out and offered the two guys sitting at the table a free beer if they'd move to the lounge! How many places will do that nowadays? And the drinks are resasonable with good Canadian Beer on tap and pints at $5.50 who wouldn't go back for pizza and beer? We're going back to try the pizza. We all have various menu choices and were more than impressed with the portions. Their Grill Cook rocks, btw! Seriously, my daughter's salmon on her salmon salad was cooked perfectly, as was the salmon in the salmon 'neptune'. My 'beef' neptune ( a steak) and freind's salmon neptune were made with REAL Hollandaise sauce. The prime rib and other steaks were expertly cooked and thick cut.. And REAL creamy deliciously seasoned, not frozen stuffed potatoes were absolutely the best we've had in years! No extra sour cream or other condiments necesseary on those lovely potatoes! The Fettucine Al Fredo looked wonderful and came with a salad too! Okay, if you're a vegan epicure, heads up here. This wonderful 1970's style menu is not for you. You'll be disappointed in the old style iceberg lettuce salad with a little tomato and a little cuke with a traditional choice of dressing. You won't like the vegetable medley that is the standard side, but that is not Capri's forte! Capri is all about the beef and ribs and pizza! They balance their meals the way it was done back when the grill chef was king of the kitchen! And it's for folks who didn't need a waiter to tell them which reduction, emulision, and fancy greens or fruit or peppercorn was added to their dish to make it worth the $$$. Capri's prices are competitive, their food is filling, their portions are generous and their service deserves every one of those five stars! And it is a Calgary landmark. Oh and wear your walking shoes. Parking is not the easiest thing to find nearby because the restaurant is located right on the corner of Edmonton Trail and 16 Ave. There is parking behind but it's laneway backing on to a park and it was crowded and busy the night we went. This is one Capri fan who hopes the Capri will be around for some time to come! read more

Food is great, customer service is HORRIBLE. I was ordering online for delivery. came across online menu, ordered, got my total, all was good until I received my total!! Was way more than my calculations. I called back to see how they came up with this amount, the gal explained, and I said those prices do not reflect what is on your menu. She spoke to who I can only assume was the manager. The 1st and only response I got back was I must have the wrong menu, do you still want the order. I wanted them to honor what was on their menu , instead the manager pretty much argued with me and I was wrong. No offer to waive delivery fee?? Nothing. Really disappointing customer service. read more

I visited Capri for the first time and last time today during lunch for a work Christmas party. Though we had pre-ordered our food, they still could keep track of the of the orders. Our side salads were frozen. I had requested "house Italian dressing" which was Ranch - when I looked puzzled and re-stated my dressing request, the server snapped at me and said that was what I had requested and made no effort to see if I would like something else. After most of the members of my table had received their meals, a colleague and I had not received our pasta. We had to call the servers over and alert them to the obvious - that we had not been served lunch. After a further delay, they reported that they had lost our orders and the cooks were making our lunches. Overall, the servers were curt and unfriendly, and the food was below average. When my meal finally arrived, the chicken fettuccini was barely edible, with sauce that tasted like it was straight out of a jar and sickly overcooked broccoli. read more

This is a tough reviewed are right, I really wanted my first review to be positive. The aesthetic are outdated and in great need of renewing so a static's are a three out of ten. Service was poor if nonexistent, The gentleman who greeted me who I assume is the owner blanket we pointed to the lounge and asked if I wanted to go there after I waited approximately four for me for five minute The gentleman who greeted me who I assume is the owner asked me for the rest of the lounge in a fairly monotone and blank stare. I was seated and given a menu and I waited five or 10 minutes for a waitress to come around and take my order. The waitress was nice, however she did not come to the lounge very often as Assume she was also taking care of the restaurant. I should note that this is 2 o'clock in the afternoon so it was not very busy as it is a smaller restaurant. I was the only customer ordering food in the lounge so it was quiet. They do have VLT's if that is your thing. Service was a three out of 10 which could've been worse without the pleasant waitress serving me. The pizza is actually very good and I would rate it a solid seven out of 10. I'm not sure if they have takeout but I would order this food to go, had a 12 inch pizza and it was $22 so not the greatest price but if you want to good priced pizza then go to pizza 73. read more
