This was our first visit here. We went before a Flames game as part of YYC Food Experience and we're happy with the timing of everything as we actually made it to the game on time. The restaurant was surprisingly massive with an open plan and nice decor. We were upstairs but thankfully as there is also a bar up there there wasn't a noticeable wait for anything. With a million parking lots downtown it is still a bitch to park here. Or at least with current construction, one way streets and being from out of town. Just a note before you go come early just in case. The actual restaurant is beautiful inside. Would love to try it in summer as well, would be nice to have a drink on patio or with windows open. Service was pretty good, waitress was fast, friendly and knowledgable but did seem over worked. Wine and drink list was great. Food was good, maybe not mind blowing. Oysters are oysters but good to have. The calamari was not my favourite, it was decent but not amazing. The cheese spread on bread was very good though. Both our pastas were great though. We only get to Calgary once a year maybe so I doubt I would come back. I always want to try new places BUT it is worth a try for sure and if I lived here I would stop in more often read more

We were checking for reservations online for a Wednesday night and they were completely booked, so we thought we'd try our luck in person. Luckily they could seat us on the patio which was nice for a summer night. We shared a few appies - the calamari was a highlight, so soft and not chewy. For pasta, I had the Campanelle with shrimp, crab, yuzu, and baby spinach. This was really good, but a bit heavy. I had the jasmine sage gimlet which was quite light and refreshing. I never leave reviews anywhere but I had to. This was one of the best meals of my life! I think I did a pretty good job of choosing items that worked together but it all comes down to how amazing the food was. The burrata was creamy, fresh and light while the focaccia bread was perfectly grilled and oiled. The Endive and citrus salad had an amazing flavour thanks to the basil-pistachio pesto and red wine vinaigrette. I paired this with the Chateau St Michelle Riesling Eroica. It complimented the salad beautifully. I ended with the Lemon Tart Brûlée. The brûlée was crispy but wasn't too hard to break through with my spoon. The lemon flavour was just tart enough to be enjoyable without coming across sour and the caramelized yogurt was to die for. Again, I absolutely never leave reviews for restaurants but it was beyond amazing. This will definitely be my new go to recommendation for anyone. read more

When you pull up the location you are immediately excited.. it's very grand and inviting. You walk in and it's absolutely beautiful inside. We sat right up against the kitchen which we really enjoyed. It was warm, dark, and great ambiance. We all ordered cocktails such as the english garden, aperol spritz, and pineapple kombucha. They were amazing. Beautiful presentation and extremely well made. We started out with the hazelnut tomato dip which was unbelievable. Don't wait on it. Just get it. The prosciutto I will dream about - this was one of the stars of the dinner. The shrimp crudo was meh. Nothing amazing. Nothing terrible. Then for dinner we went with the roasted broccoli, beet salad, pecorino pizza, and 10oz prime striploin steak. The dinner was incredible. Everything about it was delicious. My only complaints and they still were amazing is that the amount of flour on the bottom of the pizza is like a full layer that you must scrape off and the steak has about 6oz of steak and 4oz of fat which I find a little too much for the price of this dish. The lemon tart was recommended by a staff member helping and clearing tables. She was correct it is literally so delicious! Our waiter was incredible wish we would have got his name. He was great and very attentive. Definitely a must try though. read more

Walked in to see if they had a table available and they asked for my name and number. I thought it was because they were going to call or text me as soon as a table opened up, but they took me inside right away. Second, ordered a drink and that didn't come out until I was half way through my meal. At our table we also had the Chicken Parmesan sandwich, and it was a lot better than I had imagined. Drinks were quite pricey, but I found the food to be a good price for what it was. Ambiance on the patio was lovely for people watching and conversation. I found the service to be slow. Our server had two tables beside us and he seemed to ignore all of us for long periods of time. We had to eventually call him over (which I ordinarily would not do) to get our bills. Checked out this chic Yacht Club meets Euro-American modern eatery. Probably one of the most gorgeous restaurants in Calgary. . I loved the layout and the designs with two levels. Very intimate feel, but still open concept and music setting the vibes. . Food menu had great variety, but not too much you're overwhelmed and all very fresh, with surprisingly affordable prices. . We had: 1) Creste Rigate - truffle, nuff said. (26$) - boo ate this up sooo fast. Highly recommend and would get again. . 2) crispy artichokes with rosemary aioli a delish and one of my faves (8$)- would get again. . 3) hamachi crudo (13$) - thee biggest No for me. I will say it was the flavor I hated, and not the quality. I would never get again, because it tastes like herring - no thank you. I would try the other crudos though. Don't write it off. . 4) hazelnut - tomato dip (9$) - omg delish and different. Would get 1000% again. . Overall amazing ambience and exceptional service. Very upscale feel and no empty dishes stay on the table long! . What I'll get next time: 1)fried halloumi; 2)prosciutto; 3) steak tartare - with lettuce cups; 4) calamari; 5) burrata; 6)any one of the salads/veg; 7) pistachio and ricotta ravioli; 8) pecorino or clam pizza; 9)roasted steelhead trout; and 10) tiramisu .... I have to say this place was a huge disappointment. All style. No substance. Maybe if this place wasn't in Calgary, but in Milan, London or New York, things would be more elevated. However, everything, once again, gets dragged down to the lowest common denominator. The food is bland. The music is an afterthought. And the washrooms are in another postal code. We loved our actual server, but the millennials who brought us our food continually mumbled the ingredients of the various dishes brought to our table. So much so, that at one point my partner quipped: "Did that server just give us the recipe for cooking crack?" We have loved Concorde bars. From Mercury all the way up to Lonely Mouth. But of late we have noticed a downturn. From the marauding teenagers that ruined my partner's office party in the National 10th Bowling Alley, to the 'hot sauce tax' we paid at Surfy Surfy, it all seems like a post-COVID pivot to become bland and homogenized. Maybe that is the only way to survive in the restaurant business these days. I for one am $250 poorer and wish I'd gone to DOP! P.S. I don't work at DOP. The ambiance of the restaurant is amazing and you can tell that is a popular spot in the city. But, the service was horrible! We were sat quickly as I had reservations, but it was downhill from then. Drinks were ordered, appetizer was ordered, and main was ordered all at different times, but EVERYTHING came together (yes, including the drinks). We had been sitting there for almost an hour with no drinks and no appetizer, but the table next to us was receiving significantly better service from the same waiter. I made a reservation and was given a seat in the upstairs part of the restaurant in a corner. The service was horrible, it took 30 mins to order a drink. This was a Tuesday evening. The section was not full, so it didn't make sense why were put in a corner and had bad service... my date and I were dressed up. They brought the wrong cocktails ... when we mentioned that, it was not fixed and they still charged for the drinks, which we left full on the table ! The food was good however we got out appetizer and mains brought within minutes of each other so we didn't really get to enjoy the appetizer for fear our mains would be cold. Had to ask for cutlery and waited 15mins before I just got up And got it myself. The bathrooms are see through so be aware that everyone in line waiting can see everything you are doing ! When I brought up my displeasure of my experience I was met with a blank stare. It's a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant however the service was awful! The food was decent - tasty but after the raves we heard not over the top amazing- but that wasn't the awful part. Our server continued to forget about us. Other staff brought our food up, he never offered us another drink and we sat and sat and couldn't even find him for 30+ mins to get our bill after our plates were gone. We finally found a manager and explained we needed our tab and our waiter had disappeared. He never apologized/ simply said oh I'll get the bill. I went to Barabella bar today for lunch. I loved the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. it was my first visit to this restaurant and I was extremely disappointed with the service! We sat at the bar and ordered both food and drinks. WhIle the food arrived fairly quickly, we had to ask several times for cutlery, plates and napkins. We also asked for some condiments and they finally arrived after we finished eating? I ordered a drink and it took almost 10 mins to get it! There were lots of people working but they seemed to miss the concept of service. The food was good but the overall experience was very disappointing. We loved the ambiance of the place. Great atmosphere but that's where the good news ends. Food was so so. There were four of us and neither of us thought the food was above mediocre. The killer for me was our male server who had no social skills whatsoever. I asked if they had a Cab Sav house wine which he delivered. I nearly choked when I got the bill and the cost for my glass of wine was $33. The server upon delivering our bill decided to talk to us to enhance his tip no doubt. He asked what we planned to do the rest of the evening. My smart ass remark was that I was heading home because after spending $33 on a glass of wine I couldn't afford to go anywhere else.
