May 14, 2025 I was in need of a certified chimney inspector…read moredue to the fact that my homeowners insurance (Farmer's) dropped coverage in my area in Colorado (due to fires), after many years of being covered by them. The new insurance company, found by my insurance agent, came and did an inspection, and my old wood burning cookstove, even tho not having been operated in maybe 30- 35 years, is still in perfect operating order. Andrew and Jarrod from Top Hat arrived when scheduled, performed the necessary inspection requirements in a timely and professional manner, and both possessed great 'bedside manner' (as we say about doctors) .... I received their thorough report early the next morning, along with a filled out questionnaire from the insurance company .... I forwarded their digital reports to my insurance agent, who promptly passed it on to my new insurance company that very same day. As a result, their work made my new homeowners insurance policy in play. The entire process, including communications with Andrew's wife, Emmy, was a very painless exercise that resulted in a positive outcome. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of any type of work regarding wood burning appliances. I would use them again if needed. FIVE STARS, if not more .... Ken Rushing Drake, Colorado

But when they installed a new stove, only one person showed up and he was new and ended up dropping the stove because he couldn't get it up the stairs on the deck. After the install, the stove has leaked, causing my windows to smoke up and the carbon monoxide detector to go off. And the worst part is, Randy won't take responsibility for it and so I am being forced to file a complaint with Larimer County and take legal action.

I'm very much not pleased with my experience with this company. I made an online appointment to…read morehave the chimney in my new home cleaned. We waited nearly two months for our appointment time. When they arrived, they quickly determined that my fireplace was inoperable due to issues with how the chimney had been constructed. They assured us that they could fix the issue and encouraged us to get a quote from them for the repair. They charged us nearly $200 for the time spent evaluating our chimney for this quote. It makes me angry even typing that, honestly. Since it didn't seem we had much option as they had already come out, and didn't offer us a lesser fee to just not do the quote and leave, we paid it and awaited our quote. Weeks went by. I contacted the company via email and received a response that they weren't sure why we hadn't yet received the quote but would make sure it arrived in the next 2 days. 7 days goes by, no response. I email again. No response. I finally called them on the phone, 1 month after they came out. In no uncertain terms I told them that they better send me my quote ASAP or I'd be reversing the charges on the credit card. It irritates me that I needed to go that far to get them to simply give me what they had forced us to pay for. Soon after my third contact, and threatening them with reversing the charges, I finally received the quote, but it's not what we had discussed. They said they would price out both a repair including an insert (not something I'm interested in doing), and a new fireplace (the thing I would do if I decided to repair it). I received a quote for the insert only. I emailed back and asked for the quote for the new fireplace as we had discussed. I've heard nothing back. I'm so done. I feel taken advantage of. What a waste of time and money. Go elsewhere.
