Thank you Dr. Liu for fixing my lower back pain. If anyone is having the same issue, she's your go-to doctor. Never in my life would I thought of trying Chinese medicine/acupuncture but they've completely changed my mind, in a positive way. This office is located in one if the Irvine Hoag buildings. I was a bit skeptical before the initial visit, but it was truly a pleasant experience. Staff here are very kind and welcoming. Shout out to Victoria for making sure my check in process went smoothly. Soon after the initial greeting with Dr. Liu, we were able to start the treatment right away. Half way through the treatment, dr suggested acupuncture. I was very scared of needles but the dr made sure they went in as fast and accurate as it could be. During treatment, Dr. Liu checked on me periodically to make sure I was doing ok. To my surprise, my lower back and neck felt 10 times more relived after the treatment. My muscle was very sore hours after the treatment. I decided to call them the next day to clarify my concerns. Unlike most medical offices that will schedule you couple weeks out for a post op check, Dr. Liu happily invited me back just to make sure I was doing ok. Luckily it wasn't anything major but just my body feeling unusual to be put in the "right" position. For those who are having chronic pain, it is worth every penny to give it a try to fix "problems". I have seen Dr. Wei for several years but I'm considering finding a new group because my latest experience was so terrible. Somehow going to the dentist to get fillings was less painful than this. TLDR: * messed up on insurance * messed on common courtesy with patients * extremely dangerous handling of delicate concerns I came in to see Dr. Wei for an annual exam and guidance about general anxiety (check if it's to do with hormones/IUD/depression/etc). The two receptionists who booked my appointment were misleading and dropped the ball on my insurance information. Both were ESL and had problems understanding me but also did not put someone more fluent or the doctor on the line (I speak both English and Chinese but prefer English) . This is problematic because my situation was caused by the lack of proper communication. I had been very clear from the beginning that I was seeking guidance or a referral (and medication if that was possible). I would have not wasted weeks if someone could have given me correct information. I only got redundant frustrating instructions. When I went, I was mocked for my weight gain by two staffers. The one who took my weight couldn't believe I had become so heavy so she made me get on the scale again and just looked baffled by it. The other one (an older woman) actually went "WHOA!" when she saw the scale's numbers while I was sitting right there and there was another patient. This is the exact opposite of professional behavior. A gynecologist office is already a high stress place that women feel very vulnerable. Why is a place dedicated to women's well being judging their clients in such a terrible public way? On top of all that, Dr. Wei tried to cut me off when I voiced my concerns about having general anxiety. She told me bluntly as soon as she could that there was *nothing* she could do "because she wasn't a psychiatrist" and then asked me pointblank if I was suicidal or wanted to harm people. This is bad for multiple reasons: 1) she did not evaluate me in any capacity. 2) she saw no issue with saying "I cannot help you" before asking my mental state (without an evaluation). And jumped to the worst conclusion at that. 3) she did not listen to me when I said I was experiencing general anxiety and she kept pushing the suicidal narrative. (???????) 4) I literally said that my issue was general anxiety. She had not been listening. 5) she also suggested that I go to the ER if I was really feeling suicidal. (still not listening) 6) there was no question or thought of if my anxiety was linked to my hormones or other issues. Just hyperfixated on a wrong conclusion. Does this office ask expectant or postpartum parents with such level of callousness or thoughtlessness? I sure hope not. I voiced my displeasure as calmly as I could but it seemed like I was being brushed off. She was cordial but I kept feeling like I was not being heard and I was being admonished for not going to see complete strangers first with no idea what to look for. She was more accommodating with giving me some small amount of information once she learned I might be thinking of getting pregnant in the near future. Which means if any patient with anxiety asks but does not have such plans might just be out of luck. The information might be useful but I'm skeptical at this point. The actual exam was fine but it would have been much easier if I wasn't so livid and upset at this point. It's hard to relax when the doctor who is doing the exam is the same one that insinuated you were messed up and suicidal. She and another staffer apologized for the abysmal behavior and mixups. They explained that they take mental health very seriously due to a new law that makes it that they have to refer people to specialists. But honestly, I don't feel comfortable at all. This is due to both my recent and past experiences. I've gotten an IUD inserted and no one told me to come on the first day of my period so I had booked it on the last day (denying me the option to come on a day where I wouldn't feel as much pain). I've also had to pay a giant fee once for an ultrasound because someone messed up on the code. I honestly should have walked then but I had liked Dr. Wei's manner prior to this. She thoroughly messed up on this one. I was made to feel that they spent more thought and care in their Halloween decor than with handling patients in delicate situations. They had to take my blood pressure twice but they only took it the second time because I reminded them that they had wanted to do that. I think they just wanted me out of there since I was very forthcoming about my displeasure in everything. It's fortunate that I wasn't suicidal but my anxiety is even higher than ever before. I hope that this place really improves on communication, common medical courtesy , and access to mental health so that no one else has to go through the same shame and anguish. read more

My previous review was removed for some unknown reason so I am reposting about my terrible experience because people should know about what they are coming into. I came in to confirm a miscarriage, and the first thing the nurse named "Peggy" said to me was "you need to lose weight, that's probably why you lost the baby." What an absolutely inappropriate time and manner to say this. I was stunned at her insensitivity and did not know how to respond. It made me feel so worthless and sad to be told that it was my fault for the loss of my baby. Also, be aware that this office does NOT take credit cards which I assume is because most of their clients are Chinese moms who are able to pay cash up front and don't have insurance. Most of the staff here barely speak English, which makes it super difficult to communicate and understand instructions. A few times they left me voicemails all in Chinese which I could not understand. Avoid this clinic. read more

Dr. Wei is one of the nicest doctors i have met. I started seeing Dr. Wei couple of years ago for routine check ups and because she always made a point to spend solid amount of time with me and answered whatever questions I had, i decided to stay with her when I became pregnant. My first pregnancy wasn't smooth but during the process, Dr. Wei stayed on top of my care and made sure I fully understand the purpose of each visit and procedure that had to take place. Instead of using big medical terms, her explanation/answers to my questions have been thoroughly and easy to understand. For my second and third pregnancies, Dr. Wei has been consistent, patient and professional as always. As a first time mom during the first delivery, i did not know what to expect and was nervous on what i need to do but upon her arrival, she walked me through the steps that needed to be taken and something about her calm voice just made me believe everything is going to be okay! Following her instructions, both of my deliveries and postpartum healing processes were very smooth. Due to Dr. Wei's reputation within the community, her client base seem to increase however there are some nurse practitioners (they are also very nice and knowledgable) in the same office that can assist Dr. Wei during the checkup to avoid long wait. The office staffs are also very professional and can work with your schedule when making appointments. They are also very knowledgable and patient in terms of explaining insurance/billing issues should you have any. Maggie and Doris have been helping me the most throughout the years and every time I visit the office, we would chat a bit, joke around and to me, they are like family members. Both doctors are really nice and professional. However, the time of waiting to see either doctors takes FOREVER!!!!! When I first visited, I saw front office checked me in right after I filled out my form and paid my copay, but it takes FOREVER for BACK OFFICE NURSES to finish taking vitals and intake when there are only like two patients waiting before me. I wouldn't complain if they were extremely busy like Monday mornings in any medical offices. Yet, it was a Thursday afternoon when there was barely any patients! When the back office nurse was taking my vitals, I saw the other back office nurse was using her phone, laughing, and chit chatting with the nurse that was taking my vital. I also kind of looked at other rooms, and they are EMPTY!!!!! I don't know what takes the back office nurses so long to bring me in to see the doctors when there are barley any patients. I know it is better be slow in order to be more detailed with all the medical histories. However, the nurse not only seems like she knows nothing, but also made tons of mistakes when intaking while it was written clearly on my new patient questionnaire. I really hope they can hire some nurses that are more detail oriented, professional, and can work a little faster when there are barely any patients. Not to be mean, but I really wonder whether both nurses are licensed or not. read more

I have a severe lower back pain, neck pain and left ankle pain due to a snowboarding injury 3 months ago. I am a Chiropractor who works 6 days a week and my pain and symptoms started to aggravated then I finally decided to visit Dr. Stephanie Liu. She is OMD and Licensed Acupuncturist who is very professional, knowledgeable and patiently listen to my concerns. She gave me Acupuncture treatment and Fascia treatment that I found it's very unique from many other Acupuncturist that I have seen before. She even asked me to test the area where I feel pain during the treatment and I am very impressed by her amazing technique that I immediately felt a tremendous decrease of pain when I tried to perform the motion that usually caused my pain. Even though I don't feel pain anymore now, but I am still looking forward to my next appointment because Acupuncture and Herbal treatment also enhance my health and overall wellness being. I'm writing this review after having Dr.Wei as my OB during my pregnancy. As a first time mother, being pregnant I had hoped to have a good experience with a doctor of my choice and honestly, Dr.Wei surpassed my expectations!! From the first Dr. appointment that I had with her I knew she was going to be the one for me. Aside from her educational and experienced background, her bedside manner and attitude toward me the entire time as a patient was seriously exceptional. I don't write reviews unless I truly feel the need to, and with Dr.Wei I felt that it was absolutely necessary m. During my pregnancy, everything that arose health wise, Dr.Wei was on it. I felt extremely secure and confident with the care I was receiving from her. She's one of those doctors who takes a proactive approach and will not allow something to get pushed aside and waited on, she likes to act on things before any kind of problem arises. That was a plus for me!! Then when I had to get induced due to my blood pressure later in the third trimester (38+ weeks) she was continuing to check up on me and personally continue to care for me even during my hospital stay at Hoag. I loved that she wanted to be the one assisting and delivering with her patients- it showed me how hands on she was and how much that meant to her. When delivery time came we had to do a c-section and honestly as scared as I was and obviously how uncomfortable it was Dr.Wei's presence and job of delivering was great. She did a great job of delivering my babygirl. Even after delivery she continued to check up on me at the hospital and continued to show that comfort. Things wouldn't of been the same if she wasn't my OB. I actually plan to continue to keep her as my OB because I feel that when you find a doctor like her, you should absolutely stick with them. Being based in New York, we decided to be closer to our in-laws for our first pregnancy. Given that we do not have any prior local knowledge, we sought for recommendation from our friends and relative here in Irvine. Dr. Wei of Hoag medical group came highly recommended to us from our peers and was the only name that kept popping up among different group of friends. With that in mind, we transfer our record from New York Presbyterian to Dr. Wei's office at week 32 of our pregnancy. Being first time parents, we are grateful to Dr. Wei and her office for being so welcoming and consultative throughout the whole transition process. Our first visit was full of "surprises" in a good way. Now that we have something to compare to in terms of doctor's visit experience, we started to realize how much more dedicated, prepared, and full service Dr. Wei's office and Hoag practice here in Irvine. Not to mention, better quality and more updated facilities. Despite having so many patients, Dr. Wei and her team of nurses pays attention and treated our pregnancy with utmost respect and remembered our conversations and concerns during our visit each week. Dr. Wei also provided us with lots of materials and advice leading up to the big day to ease our nerves. Further, Dr. Wei was always available on call even on weekends or after hours when we had any immediate concern or false alarms closer to the due date. Dr. Pham and Dr. Wei are the perfect dynamic duo. I cannot love or praise these two doctors enough. Dr. Pham and Dr. Wei work in tandem and they are so in line with each other when to comes to their care, style and philosophy, yet they strike the perfect balance when providing different perspectives and opinions to consider, which I felt was very important when it came to my healthcare. When it comes to my in-office visits, they ease into each session always in the know and up to date with my care and health even if one or the other didn't see me in the last visit. Dr. Pham has great bedside manner, is very knowledgeable, very caring and shows urgency where it is needed. I can say the same with Dr. Wei who is very attentive, shows great empathy, is very knowledgeable and proactive in my care. I was very pleasantly surprised that if I brought up any past health concerns or even future apprehensions they were both quick to look into the concern and/or prescribe a solution. And as somebody who always goes in with a lot of questions, both are so patient in listening to and answering all my questions without ever seeming rushed or annoyed. My first experience delivering was a particularly scary one when my water broke early at 7.5 months and I was rushed into delivery before I was mentally or physically ready. During the whole labor and delivery process at the hospital I received exceptional care from both doctors. And the great thing about this pair is that they rotate in and out of the hospital so there was never a point where I had to be cared by a doctor I wasn't familiar with. Dr. Wei even went as far as to come meet me even when her rotational shift was almost over, if only to comfort me and assure me everything was going to be okay. Dr. Pham came to my rescue as I was getting ready for delivery. She worked swiftly and professionally and I delivered safely after hours of drama in my labor. What I loved about these doctors was I felt that both understood what my comfort was and also knew how to suggest the best care for the health and safety for me and my baby. The in-office staff is also wonderful. At first it took a little getting used to the predominantly mandarin speaking staff who often greeted me in Chinese rather than English. However, after getting acquainted with the team they quickly remembered my name and face and were so friendly to work with. The office overall is clean and welcoming. I'm not sure why my first review of Dr. Wei was not posted. So where do I begin! Dr. Wei delivered both my babies and I couldn't be happier. From my 1st pregnancy to my 2nd Pregnancy she has been so knowledgeable with everything and really takes her time to explain or answer any of my questions even though she's always so busy at the office and with deliveries. I don't know where she finds the time but she will give you 100% of her time when you have to see her. I'm so impressed of how calm and how dedicated and devoted she would be to listen to any of my concerns and she really pays attention to her patients and really take the time to explain everything and anything. I'm so pleased to have Dr. Wei as my OBGYN for both pregnancies! She made me feel at ease with my first pregnancy that I couldn't think of any other OBGYN to go with for my 2nd pregnancy. 2nd pregnancy came around and I had a few scares but she always made me feel so calm. She even acknowledged my husband and kept us both calm and made the delivery process so much better! I really believe if it was any other doctor, my delivery process would have been so different. My husband was so impressed he even mentioned to me how much of a great Doctor she is! And I couldn't agree more! I couldn't be happier with her as my OBGYN. And her staff! Who can forget about her staff! They always made me feel so welcome. And really acknowledged me when I'm there. One difficult thing was for me to make my appointments because of my work schedule, but they were always so helpful to make my appointments so easy and really worked with scheduling me each time. When I would be there they would acknowledge me and say hi every time, even knowing my name personally. Anything I needed they would respond so quickly to my phone calls and made everything so efficient. Very professional and friendly faces that you would want to encounter at any doctors office!
