We have heard amazing things by word of mouth from their other locations and they didn't disappoint! Great customer service going above and beyond to help us pick out our seafood. They even provided us with a couple recipes to try at home! Left with a couple fresh sandwhiches and calamari fries. Everything was devoured within minutes, 5/5 will eat here again. read more

Went there with my son who owns the gym, Corrao Kinetics at the Southport exit off of I 65. It was a Friday during Lent. The sign on the door said there could be up to a 45 minute wait. We got there at 12:15 and had our food and a table in less than 15 minutes. The fish sandwiches were great as were all of their sides. We took one of their soft cookies to go which was really good!!! I would go back in a heartbeat and my son picked of their Philly Seafood hoagie the following week with the same, great results. Wasn't going to write a review about how bad my food was but tried to contact via website and didn't hear back. Got a fish and chicken combo with Buffalo fries and Mac and some crab dip to go. Cold Mac and Cheese, old Fries with no seasoning and the fish and chicken were covered and infused with grease. I feel they went from fryer to my box immediately. Even if they weren't greasy the breading was pretty bland. Unfortunately I don't know what would bring me back although the crab dip was good. read more

Fried catfish is awesome. Hush puppies are really good too. And so is the fried perch. I'll certainly keep going back. I found the prices very reasonable for some of the best fish around. My wife and I are senior citizens and went to the caplingers on Shadeland. We took our discover indy coupon and was told abruptly they don't take this coupon here. The cashier told us no one authorized this coupon to be in their book. Last year they accepted the coupon. If they would not accept the coupon whey should have informed discoverindy . While visiting Indiana last week, my sister and I were looking for some good seafood. Caplingers came to us highly recommended and the reviews online were great. We really love good seafood and we hadn't had any since the last time we were in Maine. Well, these were the most flavorless, tough clams I had ever eaten! They were huge and like chewing on an old fan belt!!! I love fried clams and these weren't anything remotely like fried clams. The fried okra was fried in oil used for fish and had the fishy taste. Nasty!! The hush puppies were not done on the inside. Ew!! My advice, save your money and buy a hamburger at Freddys. BTW Those are amazing! Or spend a little more and buy the microwaved, frozen fish Red Lobster serves. This was horrible. read more

The quality of their seafood makes you forget that you are a long way from the Ocean as they are somehow able to offer coastal quality seafood freshness at a reasonable price. First time visit, but definitely not my last! Have been wanting to stop, but having heard how busy they are I have avoided them.....big mistake! We intentionally went early (4:30pm) in hopes that we would miss the crowd....it worked, however by the time we left, there was a steady stream of customers. There were three of us, each having something different. I had the Caplinger's Special, 2 Basa filets, two sides ( red beans rice and slaw), two hush puppies and sauce. Everything was great. Another had an order of Smelt, and the third had 1 Basa filet and shrimp, both very pleased with their choices. The diners were prepared perfectly, not greasy like many places. Very generous portions and plenty of help. Can't wait for next visit. They also provide a seafood showcase where you can pick out your choice and they prepare it at no cost. They also have a great selection of deserts, but regretfully we all passed because we had no room! Maybe next time. read more

We came in from Cincinnati on a Friday during Lenten season and so we were looking for good fish. AND DID WE FIND IT!!! Not only was the fish fresh, fried to perfection, but the collard greens were excellent as well. It was super busy when we arrived and it's a grab a table when one opens up, so we ordered and waited for a table to open up. We weren't quite sure who was there before us, so we let some other folks grab the first 2 tables, and waited. The owner (I assume) a tall older man came over with 4 shrimp cocktails and said, I noticed you've been waiting awhile and thought you might enjoy these. How kind! The shrimp cocktail were so fresh and weren't mushy or overcooked. The cocktail sauce was also delicious. After a few more minutes, a third table opened up and was swooped up by a few ladies that had just walked in. The owner came over to us again and said, you know I've noticed that you have been so patient and have let others go before you, even when you were here first. Our name was called and since we didn't have a seat yet, the server/cook politely offered to keep our good hot. The owner thanked us again for our patience and then he went to talk to a few tables that looked like they might be finished. I think he gently pushed them along, but it must have been done very nicely, because they were up and smiling as we thanked them and sat down. Our food came out immediately and it was surprisingly super fresh and hot, I would have never known it had been sitting for several minutes. The staff in general were super nice and were excited to tell us about the covered outside tables to seat 16 that would arrive by May. We will be back to this charming place and recommend you support such a nice business with excellent food! I ordered from this restaurant because they said on their website they offered curbside pickup. I am quarantine to see a family member. At this time I only do curbside pickup. When I arrived and called, they would not answer their phone. I waited for 10 mins and no answer. I was forced to go into the business. It was extremely crowded and no direction where to get pick up orders. I said I was there for pickup and ask where to go and was motioned to stand to the side. I was left standing for 10 mins. I finally ask the girl taking orders how I get pick up and she directed me to get in the line where people order. That was an upsetting answer and I said I have already been waiting 15 mins. Finally another worker got my order. This business is too chaotic for me to ever return. And no "I'm sorry you had to wait so long" but the lady who directed me to stand to the side said, "I will not talk to you!" because I was so upset with my whole experience. read more
