I went in looking for a few low maintenance plants and Cole walked me through several options with real care and attention. I picked up a Hoya Compacta Hindu Rope, a ZZ plant, a Philodendron Lemon Neon, a Bromeliad, a Crassula Jade, an annual, and a six inch Euphorbia Firestick cactus. Every plant looked healthy and well cared for. Since it was a quiet Wednesday morning, I got very personalized attention, but honestly the service here is always excellent even when the store is busy. The staff makes every customer feel valued, no matter how many people are in the shop. The prices are higher than big box stores, but the quality and care of the plants make it worth it. This is easily one of my favorite plant shops in DC and I always leave feeling excited about my new plants. Thank you again to Cole for the great recommendations and wonderful customer service.

Recently, due to the closure of the Upper Marlboro location, I began shopping at the Brandywine location and for the first time ever after spending thousands of dollars over the years, I returned an item that cost less than $25. To my surprise, I was the subject of a profanity laced diatribe from a female owner of the store who excoriated me for making the wrong purchase which required her to a do what she called " a time consuming credit card refund". I began shopping at R&D Cross when the southern part of Upper Marlboro had one fast food restaurant and you saw store employees at church or the grocery store. That period has passed. What remains is my insistence that I treat others with respect and be treated the same way. Regrettably, I shall never make another R&D Cross purchase.

Everything I've purchased here has continued to thrive once transplanted at home and exceed my expectations for longevity and bloom.. These are high-quality, healthy plants. I've never had a bad experience here, but originally gave four stars cuz of price. I'm updating to five as I am very satisfied with the cost-to-quality equation. I'll reiterate what I said in my original post: Meadows Farms customer service is exactly the right balance of experts on hand to help without hovering / shadowing while I browse. Today I was tired feeling bad because of the weather and the Afib. I finished my shopping and was checking out to be treated in the worst possible way I can imagine. First the cashier said my receipt had torn in half coming out of the register and didn't have the scan code on the bottom, so she tried for 5-10 minutes to redo it without any success. Then she went over to the customer service and stood there trying to get them to redo it with management involved but they said it wasn't coming up and they would have to recheck the items and do a new receipt. Well, I had already used my Debit card with their cashier and because my Social Security check doesn't get deposited until Wednesday Feb 12, 2020. I did not have extra funds to cover them rechecking my items and charging it again. The manager said the original will go away to tonight, but it was on my debit card then and I didn't have the extra money until that one cleared to redo it. Overall, I spent about 35 minutes listening to all the Bull from the store employees without any results with this being THEIR MISTAKE. So, I had to leave the store without my grocery's and drive 20 miles back home with nothing. I cannot a believe a store would be allowed to do something like this to a senior citizen with health issues. My purchase on my debit card was for the next 2 weeks for food and household items so now I'm sitting at home having to wait for this to clear in order to buy my food to eat. I just really think there should be some type of apology for causing me to have to go through all this today because of the store's problems. I have contacted Walmart Cooperate and they notified the local store and they were supposed to respond within 3 days. Nothing has happened and all I asked for was an apology from the store.
