I have never in my life been screamed at by any medical professional the way this man screamed at me. After being an established patient, I was having severe gum pain and bleeding so I called in to get seen the same day. Dr. Yahnian dismissed all of my symptoms telling me this was nothing. I told him my teeth were gushing blood and he told me that probably was not true. The swelling came down by the time I was in office but I was very concerned about the severe pain I had been experiencing over the last few days. As I was walking out of the appointment it didn't sit right with me so I went back. He started screaming in my face telling me this was all in my head. He was so aggressive it was actually scary. I have no idea how he is still in practice. As a nurse practitioner myself the way he talked to his patient was unacceptable. read more

His dental assistant, Donna, was also very invested in helping me to map out next steps. Both Dr. Yahnian and Donna took the stress out of the process. So, this is my dentist. I chose the office mostly based on location, but holy moley this is an upscale dental office if ever I saw one. Going to see my dentist is more like if my best friend just happened to be a dentist and had a room in his house with all the dental equipment where he saw patients. Nothing about the waiting room says, "Hey! we're getting ready to stab you in the mouth with needles and afterward you won't even realize you're drooling for the rest of the day!" So, if you have a fear of dentists that could help. Me, I'm not afraid of the dentist. Perhaps because we're so well acquainted. Anyway, this means the dentist's "chair-side" manner is always important to me. And I'm not sure what it is, but I feel like my hygienist and dentist are my friends, even with all the needles and drills and stuff. They are nice and tell me everything that they are thinking in terms I understand. And they try really hard to make visiting them as comfortable as possible. So, you know, I appreciate that. They also have a great view or the mountains since all of their work spaces are floor-to-ceiling windows facing the mountains. I am deeply disappointed in my experience with Capitol Premier Dental Group. It is the most unprofessional practice I have ever set foot in. Dr. Yahnian was evidently overbooked and arrived in my exam area late (which was fine), harried and overwhelmed from the patient sitting three feet away from me. He was curt, impatient, and alarmingly rude. I left the appointment crying; I never knew a simple dentist appointment could leave me so stressed and upset. David and Linda were great, my review is of Dr. Yahnian's poor and unprofessional services. Good riddance and good luck to the few patients they may be able to hold onto. read more

I came to this office to see Luis Cardoso after a terrible experience at Comfort Dental a block away. This office accepts Medicaid and explains everything they're doing, as well as answering any questions and giving you options (if possible) on your next course of action. I tell people all the time how much I love my dentist (and I am a big baby when it comes to dental work). From my first visit many years ago and every visit since, I have never been more at ease in a dental office. The staff is caring and Dr. Cardoso is the most amazing dentist I have been to (and I have seen a lot of dentists in my life). He handles you with kid gloves, even during the toughest procedures. He makes each one seem like a walk in the park. He really cares about his patients and understands how to work with patients who have had bad dental experiences in the past. He gets you past the fear of dental work and actually will have you looking forward to the next cleaning or procedure. He is extremely knowledgeable in his field and very judicious about any procedures he recommends. I have been to other dentists who have suggested thousands of dollars of dental work, but Dr. C. took the time to give me a thorough exam and come up with a plan that minimizes invasive and expensive procedures. Everyone in his office is pleasant and professional and there are NO other dentists or physicians offices I can say that about. I refer new patients to his practice all the time because I think everyone deserves a dentist like him. Now if only there was a way to clone him........ Worked with my insurance and gave me the best approach to getting my teeth back into shape. I was impressed at how fast and clean there work was. Apparently, they are only nice to you at your first appointment. After the rude way I was treated today, I will not be recommending this place to anyone and I will find a new dental office. I'm sorry that their automated text service failed to work correctly to reschedule my last appointment, but that doesn't give anyone the right to talk down to a patient and give them attitude. Especially since I showed up to this appointment on time and had to wait around past my appointment time just for someone to come to the front and check me in. The teeth cleaning itself was half assed and rushed. Didn't get flossed or even have my teeth examined by the dentist. Every cleaning I have ever had, I at least have my teeth examined by a dentist. I had teeth sensitivity that I wanted to talk about, but that didn't happen. Can't believe I ever recommended this place to friends and coworkers. I'll make sure to tell everyone not to come here. To top things off, I had to deal with the most unprofessional, slovenly front desk person EVER. He looked like he just rolled out of bed and was very snarky. He kept snapping at me saying "You should have called me to reschedule!". Umm, I was busy getting an MRI so I'm sorry that I expected your automated text system to work when I hit R for reschedule like it requested. Not my problem that it failed to work properly. I even paid the $40 cancellation fee, but he was still being a jerk. He was too vapid to understand why I started getting upset with his attitude and raising my voice. Then, after treating me like crap, he asked when I wanted to come back in for my fillings to be done. Uh, no. I'm not spending anymore of my money here. If you have the nerve to treat paying customers this terribly, then this office must not need anymore business. read more

I never thought I'd say this, but I love my dentist! The office is currently in The Beauvallon, which... is currently covered in plastic and construction workers... but there's a covered parking lot and the office has gorgeous views of the mountains (thankfully not covered in plastic). The waiting room has the feel of a really nice lounge than a dentist's office, which is nice. I've showed up early for both appointments and been seen a few minutes before my appointment time both times. The first procedure I had done was tooth cleaning and xrays. Super-gentle but thorough cleaning, I was talked through everything and nothing hurt. Dr. Cardoso was about as nice as a dentist can be when telling someone they have cavities. I was just back to have said cavities filled, and... no pain? No pain! Compared to my childhood dentist the fillings were nothing. Dr. Cardoso talked me through everything he was about to, and my gums were so numb from the topical gel I didn't feel the novocain shot at all, which is a HUGE thing for me. I felt almost nothing during the procedures, and when the novocain wore off in a few hours I didn't feel anything beyond a slight ache and sensitivity. If you're uninsured they offer a 10% cash discount, or financing. read more

"Albert" is the best dentist I've ever had--and I've had a lot of dentists since childhood! Personable, knowledgeable, friendly and will talk your ear off! I went to this dentist when it was located in the Beauvallon and my first year there was fine. But then, they moved offices to across town. AND, they didn't even tell me when I made my next appt! I showed up to the Beauvallon and the building guard had to tell me they moved. So, the office is now way over by Exposition and Colorado. Yucky drive. They were very unapologetic about not telling me they moved. Then they told me to drive over for my appt, they said "they guessed they could get me in" So I show up and they do a cleaning and then say the doctor is busy. They made me make another appt. to come back for the check up. Wow, terrible customer service and very rude front desk workers. No thank you. There are many other dentist offices that are more professional and helpful--in fact, I visited one today. read more

I've been coming to Capitol Hill Dental for seven years. Recently there was a change of dentist with Dr. Dan Yahnian coming in for an extended period of time as Dr. Cardoso recovers from surgery. The office has made several positive improvements including going 'digital' with their records. It feels clean and the staff is very professional. Let me start by saying I really did like this dentist initially! Nice guy and a decent office. However...... Initially when I went in there I asked for one of my teeth to be examined that was grey. He informed me that was one of my old silver fillings that had penetrated my tooth enamel so nothing can be done. I'll get back to that story shortly. Then a few weeks ago, I called in and said that tooth was really hurting me on a Thursday morning. Sergio at the front desk let me know that I could not be seen until the following Tuesday (Later I have come to learn from Cigna that if you call in, you must be seen within 24 hours if it's an emergency situation). This led to a VERY unpleasant series of events that led to an emergency root canal at an out-of-network emergency dentist on a Sunday which was $900 out of pocket. I had a huge abscess that could have been taken care of by this dentist but they would not see me. So now I'm out $900 and on top of it, I have had 2 dentists recently tell me the grey tooth is dead with no root and has to be removed and an implant put in. Again more money wasted out of my pocket. When I called back and talked to Sergio the following Monday he just said he was sorry and he would see what could be done. Well, surprise, surprise, never heard back from him. I would NOT advise going to this dental practice. Sergio also, overcharged me for a copay for a different procedure and didn't offer to refund me until after I had both my insurance company call them and then I had to follow up. UGH! Although Dr. Cardoso a nice guy, it really doesn't seem like you are in very good hands here. read more

Capitol Hill Dental Group, located in the Beauvallon building on Lincoln is very impressive if it's interior design or mountain views you're after. Unfortunately the dental treatment isn't as good. Dr D performed a root canal on my tooth and I've had nothing but problems with it. I scheduled an early appointment for 9am, the first of the day, but I was still kept waiting for 45 minutes. The procedures were extremely painful (each of the three appointments I had to endure left me in agony for 12 hours), and the crown broke when he tried to fit it. I now want the tooth pulled as it's painful and possibly infected. I've already spent over $1500 on this tooth, and I wish it had been pulled as I requested at my first appointment. I recommend you enjoy the mountain views from another building... where you won't be kept waiting for 45 minutes. I want my money back. read more

Dr. Cardoso is hands down the most caring dentist I have ever had in my life, and I've had a few. He takes the time to talk, joke, and get to know you. He is acutely sensitive to your needs, fears, and feelings as a patient, and does everything in his power to ensure your experience here is a safe, comfortable, and productive one. I had a mouth full of disease and decay when I first came to his office, and now, many visits later, I walk away with a clean mouth, fresh set of upper choppers, and a newfound confidence in my smile. I simply cannot say enough good things about this deeply caring man. And it is a positive experience that extends to the entire office. Sergio at the front desk helped me out when I had an issue with my insurance company that literally had me in tears. He offered a solution and put me at ease. In fact, every time I called for an appointment or came in the door Sergio was always quick with a smile and a pleasant greeting. In short- if you are looking for a dentist- I cannot recommend dr. I had a broken crown and needed to see a dentist on short notice. Capitol Hill Dental Group was able to see me the next day. I'm pretty sure they even extended their office hours to see me, although they didn't mention it. For this alone, I am very appreciative. Dr. Cardoso has a wonderful calming chair-side manner, and this made my appointment comfortable and even enjoyable. His staff is just as attentive and professional as Dr. Cardoso. I will definitely come here again, as well as recommend to my friends. read more
