I've walked past this store all of the time, but may have only gone in once? I'm primarily a wine drinker, so it's pretty easy for me to pick up a bottle here and there when I go grocery shopping. However, my nail salon is just a few businesses down, so I've dropped in once or twice for a mixer or a bottle of liquor if I'm entertaining. However, most recently I received some wine from here via Drizly delivery. I was actually pretty impressed by their wine selection, which I had never taken time to look at previously. I was able to buy a bottle of one of my favorites and also try a new wine that I had never seen before that I also really enjoyed. Thank you Drizly and Capitol Wine for keeping the wine flowing during this quarantine. With all of the virtual happy hours I've been going to, these bottles have really come in clutch (and the delivery time has been top notch!) read more

This liquor shop is on Pennsylvania Avenue close to Spike's restaurants- Good Stuff Eatery, Santa Rosa, and We the Pizza. It's a small liquor store, but they carry a lot of product from a wide selection of wine, beer, and spirits (including locally made liquor). In the back, there's a walk-in fridge with craft beer and craft cider. read more

I experienced pretty poor service, the guy made me wait over 5 minutes so he could finish doing what he was doing when I walked in. And he didn't know his selection, more expensive than other liquor stores in area. read more

This is a nice neighborhood package store. They recently upgraded their floors, and they look good. They try to order specialty items for patrons and are always so nice. AJ is the owner, and Charles is the tall man often wearing a bowtie. Some Fridays, they have a free wine tasting. read more

I love the selections they have! But don't think you going to your ghetto liquor store cause you need money real money to get these rare bottles. There are something's that other stores have that they don't have but I've seen a lot of other things I would love to try. read more

These guys are amazing. During the pandemic, I've been using the Drizly app to order my booze, and having it fulfilled by Capitol Hill Wine and Spirits. I live across the river in Anacostia and they usually have my order on my doorstep within 20 minutes. If only everything else in the world was this efficient! read more

Capitol Hill Liqours has a Western Union portion that should not be in their store. Thus, the review. Everything stated is true, and not directed towards the store's products but their association with Western Union. I have been living on the Hill since 4/15/1992 and have gotten a chance to frequent this establish and to see the changes and watch them grow. My disappointment came when my niece visited and was sent money via Western Union to this store. She went on two occasions and was told that there was no money (she was only getting $100 from her mother in NYC). I finally went with her on two additional occasions and was told that there was no money. The woman behind the counter was rude and condescending towards my niece and myself. Western Union has them listed as a service area, but there is never any money. I suggest that they not list themselves as a center. read more

We used to come here to buy cheap beer, to take with us to play football in Lincoln Park. You have to go all the way to the back if you want a cold 24-pack---you have to stick your head in the storeroom and call for some guy to bring you old a fresh case. It averages out to be about 50 cents per Natural Light, which is a good margin by any standard. This place also has lots of good snackfoods and cookies, in case you need to settle your stomach before your big date at Hawk n Dove. read more

This has become my favorite wine and liquor store on The Hill! Sevida the owner is always available to point you in the right direction of some great wines, and some you may have never tried. She is very price-aware, so if you budget is small, she's got a great wine for you, still! By saving some bones on your everyday wines, it allows you to splurge on one that may be a few dollars more, and you can discover some great new finds from around the world. On the liquor side, they have a great range of premiums that you don't always find other places, and all of your favorite single malts are here. If there is something you are looking for that's not here, they probably have it down the street at their flagship location, Harry's Reserve on New Jersey Ave. SE. It's a beautiful new spot between Nationals Stadium and Cap Hill. Tastings every Saturday from 5-8, and 10% off the tasting wines! read more

Seemed like a great place. I was so happy to get my Boulevard Wheat, as I've had trouble finding it other places on the Hill that the Boulevard site says should have it. The staff was nice and friendly. And then I got home and took out a bottle...and the beer was 3+ months past its 'best by' date. Not happy. read more

It's my one stop booze shop. Compared to the other liquor stores in a few block radius they have the best prices and selection. On both Jonnie walker black and Bombay gin have seen other stores charge as much as 6 dollars more for the same size bottle. The beer selection is good, not awesome, but they would need a bigger space for awesome. They do have a lot of good beers though. I like that they have been doing samplings on Friday and Saturday night and have been stocking small batch and start up liquor companies. It's much more fun to hear about the back story of a new company making rye then to just get the same old stuff. read more

So the other reviews were right, this place doesnt look like much from the outside, but man what a selection. I was looking for cider so the store assistant walked me to the back into one of the most excellent cider and indie beer selections ive seen in a while. I found exactly what i was looking for and nabbed a new gose to try. Now that ive found this place ill be coming back to load up. I cant get Blake's hard cider by me, but this place was def the spot to peruse. read more

They had orange bitters I needed for a party, and it's close to work, so if I know I need something for a party afterward, I can grab it here to save some time on the way home. Their prices are a bit higher than the ABC's of Virginia though. read more

Great spot on cap hill! I went in this afternoon needing a last minute gift for a friend and walked out completely satisfied. The knowledgeable staff person helped me quickly narrow my choices among the dozens of bourbon available and with their assistance I feel like I made a great choice. Everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. It's easy to miss, like most of the shops on that strip, but keep your eyes peeled and check them out. read more

Don't let the store front and size fool you. While the store is fairly small, it is packed with a wide range of quality wine, liquor and beer - and at a good price for DC. They have wine tastings on Saturdays, and they are very helpful in pointing out nice wines; and not steering you to expensive/overpriced ones either. read more
