Prescribing Motegrity for chronic constipation with IBS was brilliant and has made a tremendous difference in my quality of life. I have tried a multitude of diet changes and medications to remedy my symptoms. Increased water consumption, high fiber diet, FODMAP diet, or more exercise did not improve my symptoms of chronic constipation. Medications such as stool softeners or laxatives were ineffective. Linzess proved to be reactionary to my symptoms, while Motegrity works preemptively. This newly FDA approved drug has been life changing and I have Dr. Manickam to thank for prescribing it to me. As a healthcare professional myself, I appreciate that Dr. Manickam stays current with innovative advances and advocates for my health. If you are looking for a medically knowledgeable gastroenterologist who is a strong patient advocate and will care for you as an individual, I highly recommend Dr. Manickam. Karen Lynch, MSN, RN

....Good riddance…read more..... You better believe all the 1 star ratings you see. Wish I believed them myself 3 years ago when I put my son under her care just because she believed in the power of nutrition. BTW she's just a pediatrician, not a GI doctor. I never knew that. After her insisting on doing a major surgery for my son and 4 other opinions opposing her way, we called it quits with her and her office. UCDavis GI Ped Surgeon refused to do the surgery, saying it was unnecessary. My heart was totally unsettled to hear anything from her anymore and took my son somewhere else. Her STAFF are inefficient with their skills and their knowledge of insurance. My husband and I had to spend time explaining things related to insurance and approvals EVERY SINGLE TIME. Oh, also very hard to get a hold of them when you really really need them. BILLING DEPARTMENT from a call center in India are excellent when it comes to chasing you for copays and bills. Lots of good GI doctors out there. My rule now is to check if the doctor is board certified, so that I make sure it's a GI Pediatrician and not just a pediatrician. Good riddance.

I had to pay my copay with my card and the lady at the front couldn't get the card reader to work causing us to wait to go in and see the dr. Finally after about 5/10min it worked and she was able to run my card and they took us to the back. Soon as Dr. Yinka comes in she tells us that we were late and she's going to try and squeeze us in as much as she can and we told her no we weren't late that the card reader wasn't working for the lady at check in. Then she's like oh?! No apology or feeling like she said anything wrong (I thought that was very rude) anyway she goes on about how my kids need to get off cow's milk and how it's not good. To do oatmilk or almond milk for them and cut out all dairy and how sick my kids look and that my 10yr old is overweight. She just gave me the impression that she was trying to push the way she eats on other people because I didn't feel that was the reason we've been going thru wat we have with my son and neither did the pulmonary dr wen i told her about our visit with Dr.Yinka. Especially because she hadn't even touched my kids or examined them. The appointment was about 15min long and she walks us out to make a return appointment and was even rude the way she talked to the girl that was helping us schedule the appointment. Other down sides are 1. The hours of operation aren't for working families. They close too early especially for myself because I work graveyard. 2. The staff doesn't speak clear English so it's very hard to communicate with them and understand their heavy accent. 3. I took my kids to get blood work at quest and she gave me paper orders to take with me to quest and I spent 1 hour there because they were having issues with the paper order, having to print labels to put on tons of vials. They were telling me that the amount of blood she ordered for my daughter would make her anemic so they only took wat they could and I'd have to come back and poke my 3yr old again! It was just a hassle there at quest because she didn't send the orders electronically. I never took my kids for a follow up. I just asked to be referred elsewhere because it just wasn't a overall good visit and the time frame they had didn't work with my schedule.

As someone with Crohn's disease, a lot of complications come with the illness, and can easily compound with other issues. I was suffering for so long until I met her. Not only does she give great care as a physician, she makes sure to get proper screenings that I haven't received in the past. She works closely with her team in order to ensure that her patients get the most comprehensive care, and that they have an opportunity to get their lives back! I wouldn't be at the level of wellness that I am now if it weren't for her taking care of me. She is an exceptional specialist and I'd recommend anyone to her with GI issues.

She provides an unfortunately rare combination of medical knowledge, dedication, curiosity, humility, and deep compassion for her patients. I decided to bypass my daughters PCP and went straight to Dr. Davies. She did not hesitate to take my teen under her wing. I came to Dr. Davies with my daughter who was suffering constant, undiagnosed abdominal pain. Over 2 years actually. They methodically and quickly moved through tests and possible treatments. Dr Davies has always been responsive to our detailed questions, supportive of alternative treatments, and an excellent partner with us as a patient/ parent team and with other medical providers, our pharmacy, and our insurance company. Our appointments are never rushed, and the connection continues outside the office with regular, responsive phone/email communication. When I came to the end of the list of possible GI answers to my daughter's condition without any answers, Dr. Davies, stuck with us and said we will find out what is going on. She explained bloodwork results and we agreed the next route was Endo/Colonscopy We are endlessly grateful to Dr. Davies and her staff and recommend her to anyone looking for quality pediatric GI care.

I arrived shortly before my scheduled appointment. After I sat down and had been sitting for sometime, I heard the front desk staff say to each other "Cerner is down." This is the electronic medical record system that Dignity uses. About 30 minutes after I've been sitting, an elderly patient walks to the front desk staff and asked how much longer he has to wait for his appointment because he's been waiting over an hour. The Dignity staff member, at the front desk, apologized to the patient and said he would look into it and he would be right back. When the staff member returned, the staff member apologized to the patient. The staff member told the patient that the technician he was scheduled to see is not in the clinic today. The elderly patient very sternly and very loudly said he he booked this appointment a month. The patient also mentioned where he had to drive from to get to his appointment today. I won't mention the city but that's at least a 45 minute drive. The Dignity staff person apologized profusely and said "no one told us" the technician would not be in. The Dignity staff member also said "this happens more often than it should" and that no one told the front staff that this technician had a training class today. Again the Dignity staff member apologized and said that nobody "closed the schedule" so patients are booked for the entire day and no one will be seen because the technician is not scheduled to even come to the clinic on this day. The staff member, had to apologize again when he told the patient that the first available appointment was two months away. So, essentially, this patient is waiting three months for an appointment. I won't mention on this forum what that particular appointment is for but I can share that it's a preventive measure. I hope nothing happens to that patient while he's waiting for his appointment in the next three months. The saddest part about this: a patient sat waiting for one hour and only got the support and assistance that he needed because he went straight to the front desk. There were many staff members at the check-in area and it's a shame that not one single solitary person even noticed that this man was waiting for an hour. By the time this episode concludes it is 9 AM and no one has told me that I can't be seen, won't be seen, or anything else. So I say to myself, "if you're not called in 10 minutes, walk out." I figured nobody is going to extend any courtesy to me, no one is going to even notice if I get up and leave, and no one has even checked to see if I need anything even though I'm sitting right in front of the front desk. While I'm waiting a very "loud" employee walks into the clinic, wearing no mask, goes into the back office and winds up at the front desk, still not wearing a mask and and goes about making sarcastic remarks that everyone at the front desk thinks is so funny because they're all laughing at the stupid things she continues to say. Ultimately, she tells someone "give me a mask" and finally puts one on. Meanwhile at 9:10am, I've been waiting for at least 45 minutes, I decide to walk out since no one has told me that their records system is down and no one seemed concerned with my presence even though I am sitting in a chair that's directly in front of the front desk staff. I am on my way back to work and at 9:24 AM (54 minutes after my scheduled appointment) I get a phone call from the Medical Assistant asking me to come back. She and I talk a bit when we get into the exam room and she apologizes for not coming to check on me. She specifically says that she should've checked on me and that she knew her 8:30 AM appointment (me) had arrived. I told her that I appreciated her apology. I also mentioned to her, that I knew if I left, no one would even notice I was gone and I was right. She said when she came out to check on me, she asked the front desk where I was and no one knew. I shared with her the experience I witnessed with the elderly patient and that no patients should have to wait 45 minutes like I did let alone an hour like the elderly patient. I had the "privilege" of meeting with some senior leaders recently who have oversight for clinical operations at Dignity Health. This meeting took place way before my horrible interaction in the vascular department. At this meeting, I was very clear and concise in telling them that my experience as a Dignity Health patient in the clinic setting (and the experience of my loved ones, family members, and friends) has not been very good. Do you think they asked me any additional questions or followed up with me to provide specific examples? Absolutely, positively not! This speaks volumes about their interest to advocate for patient quality and the patient experience.
