Doctor Palaniappan Thank you for the your video message on corona virus. Most of us recognize the problem but we don't know how to solve the problem. Short videos/blog like encouraging healthy eating, showing us what to shop for , recipes and cooking (may be partnering with nutritionist) could help people get healthy. These days excessive meat consumption and eating out are rampant. Showing us how to reverse those diseases and conditions with healthy eating and habits could contribute to better lives for asian community where nutritional literacy is less compared to western cultures.

Prescribing Motegrity for chronic constipation with IBS was brilliant and has made a tremendous difference in my quality of life. I have tried a multitude of diet changes and medications to remedy my symptoms. Increased water consumption, high fiber diet, FODMAP diet, or more exercise did not improve my symptoms of chronic constipation. Medications such as stool softeners or laxatives were ineffective. Linzess proved to be reactionary to my symptoms, while Motegrity works preemptively. This newly FDA approved drug has been life changing and I have Dr. Manickam to thank for prescribing it to me. As a healthcare professional myself, I appreciate that Dr. Manickam stays current with innovative advances and advocates for my health. If you are looking for a medically knowledgeable gastroenterologist who is a strong patient advocate and will care for you as an individual, I highly recommend Dr. Manickam. Karen Lynch, MSN, RN

As someone with Crohn's disease, a lot of complications come with the illness, and can easily compound with other issues. I was suffering for so long until I met her. Not only does she give great care as a physician, she makes sure to get proper screenings that I haven't received in the past. She works closely with her team in order to ensure that her patients get the most comprehensive care, and that they have an opportunity to get their lives back! I wouldn't be at the level of wellness that I am now if it weren't for her taking care of me. She is an exceptional specialist and I'd recommend anyone to her with GI issues.

Filed a malpractice suit after a missed dx caused significant liver damage…read more I was referred to Dr. Rangi at this practice for ongoing abdominal pain and a follow up on a concerning liver biopsy by UCSF. I have systematic schleroderma which can impact the GI tract and I had symptoms which indicated significant GI involvement. Dr. Rangi was completely dismissive of my concerns. He agreed to to the procedures recommeded by UCSF. The initial procedure was reschedule because of the early stages of COVID. Prior to the procedure being done, I was ordered additional abdominal imaging. This imaging revealed an enlarged spleen, a pancreatic cyst, and was concerning. On the day of my scheduled ERCP procedure, Dr. Rangi could not remember what my case was about during the initial consult. He opted to change the ERCP to an endoscopy, which was useless for diagnostic purposes. Afte the report came back, I asked his staff repeatedly why he did not follow up about the spleen or pancrease issues or what further follow-up was needed. I was told there was nothing to be concerned about. Another doctor diagnosed me with advanced stage PBC, the most common issue for people with schleroderma. I have been assured by several phsycians any competent GI doc would have run the blood test to dx this prior to doing other procedures. As a result of the progress of the disease, my life span projection is 52. Had it been treated two years ago, I could have expected at least another decade on this. When I went to file a complaint with the Medical Board, I did a license search. Dr. Rangi has: - A felony conviction - A misdemeanor conviction - Two malpractice settlements - Federal action against him - Multiple hospital disciplinary actions - license suspensions HE IS DANGEROUS. HE SHOULD NO BE IN PRACTICE.

I arrived shortly before my scheduled appointment. After I sat down and had been sitting for sometime, I heard the front desk staff say to each other "Cerner is down." This is the electronic medical record system that Dignity uses. About 30 minutes after I've been sitting, an elderly patient walks to the front desk staff and asked how much longer he has to wait for his appointment because he's been waiting over an hour. The Dignity staff member, at the front desk, apologized to the patient and said he would look into it and he would be right back. When the staff member returned, the staff member apologized to the patient. The staff member told the patient that the technician he was scheduled to see is not in the clinic today. The elderly patient very sternly and very loudly said he he booked this appointment a month. The patient also mentioned where he had to drive from to get to his appointment today. I won't mention the city but that's at least a 45 minute drive. The Dignity staff person apologized profusely and said "no one told us" the technician would not be in. The Dignity staff member also said "this happens more often than it should" and that no one told the front staff that this technician had a training class today. Again the Dignity staff member apologized and said that nobody "closed the schedule" so patients are booked for the entire day and no one will be seen because the technician is not scheduled to even come to the clinic on this day. The staff member, had to apologize again when he told the patient that the first available appointment was two months away. So, essentially, this patient is waiting three months for an appointment. I won't mention on this forum what that particular appointment is for but I can share that it's a preventive measure. I hope nothing happens to that patient while he's waiting for his appointment in the next three months. The saddest part about this: a patient sat waiting for one hour and only got the support and assistance that he needed because he went straight to the front desk. There were many staff members at the check-in area and it's a shame that not one single solitary person even noticed that this man was waiting for an hour. By the time this episode concludes it is 9 AM and no one has told me that I can't be seen, won't be seen, or anything else. So I say to myself, "if you're not called in 10 minutes, walk out." I figured nobody is going to extend any courtesy to me, no one is going to even notice if I get up and leave, and no one has even checked to see if I need anything even though I'm sitting right in front of the front desk. While I'm waiting a very "loud" employee walks into the clinic, wearing no mask, goes into the back office and winds up at the front desk, still not wearing a mask and and goes about making sarcastic remarks that everyone at the front desk thinks is so funny because they're all laughing at the stupid things she continues to say. Ultimately, she tells someone "give me a mask" and finally puts one on. Meanwhile at 9:10am, I've been waiting for at least 45 minutes, I decide to walk out since no one has told me that their records system is down and no one seemed concerned with my presence even though I am sitting in a chair that's directly in front of the front desk staff. I am on my way back to work and at 9:24 AM (54 minutes after my scheduled appointment) I get a phone call from the Medical Assistant asking me to come back. She and I talk a bit when we get into the exam room and she apologizes for not coming to check on me. She specifically says that she should've checked on me and that she knew her 8:30 AM appointment (me) had arrived. I told her that I appreciated her apology. I also mentioned to her, that I knew if I left, no one would even notice I was gone and I was right. She said when she came out to check on me, she asked the front desk where I was and no one knew. I shared with her the experience I witnessed with the elderly patient and that no patients should have to wait 45 minutes like I did let alone an hour like the elderly patient. I had the "privilege" of meeting with some senior leaders recently who have oversight for clinical operations at Dignity Health. This meeting took place way before my horrible interaction in the vascular department. At this meeting, I was very clear and concise in telling them that my experience as a Dignity Health patient in the clinic setting (and the experience of my loved ones, family members, and friends) has not been very good. Do you think they asked me any additional questions or followed up with me to provide specific examples? Absolutely, positively not! This speaks volumes about their interest to advocate for patient quality and the patient experience.
