Love this neighborhood shop. Nick has assisted me on several occasions and was particularly helpful in helping me select a hybrid bike that fit me. He had me test ride a few different models and frame sizes. When I remarked that I felt cramped he grabbed a Trek Verve in a frame size that was slightly too big for me based on convention but I felt the immediate sensation of Ahhh. They gave the bike a final tuning and told me to come in a couple hundred miles to adjust for the cables stretching. Huge difference in speed and comfort over my old bike. They will help you load and unload your bike.This location also hosts basic maintenance workshops. A bicycle should not be a commodity purchase; your body needs the TLC of a local bike shop. Capitol Cyclery is great; I've used Essen Lane and Jones Creek locations and been pleased with both. read more

I recently moved to Baton Rouge from Phoenix. Our bicycles received some damage in the move. The guys at Capitol Cyclery were able to fix my mountain bike like new, but my wife's bike needed more repairs than the bike was worth. Today I met Dave and James at the Jones Creek location. They were extremely friendly and professional. They helped me choose the perfect new bike for my wife. They took the time to completely check out the new bike, as well as transfer the accessories from the old bike. My wife is very happy with her new bike. Never take your bike for service or repairs to this place. I had a very unpleasant experience as I used their bike repair shop recently and would not recommend their services for bike tune-ups or repairs. My bike wasn't properly serviced as requested ( and charged for). When I brought this to the attention of the staff and showed them the deficiencies, they didn't acknowledge their oversight and instead gave me an illogical excuse. They said, "We did the work, but I guess something happened. Don't worry, we can take a look at it again". Encountering disorganization and careless staff in any organization is frustrating, but being lied to is simply unacceptable. It's disheartening to witness a business with such unethical values still in operation. read more

The employees seem very grumpy. The older man who I'm guessing is the manager who was standing by the door with no mask talking to a younger guy with no mask gave us mean looks and then walked away as we went inside. The guy who showed us around seemed nice enough, but he was pushing bikes that we weren't interested in. Ive always bought bikes from Capital Cyclery for probably 30 years. I bought a bike from this particular store a few years ago and the workers were helpful and happy. I know there's a pandemic, but that's no excuse for acting surly at Christmas. I don't know what I'm going to do, try another location or go to a box store. I'm so disappointed. read more

I brought in a bike that needed a new tube for one tire. When I got home, I noticed three items attached to the bike were missing (spoke guard, multipurpose bike tool attached with clip, and metal reinforcements hiding the quick release for the front wheel). I called them to ask about these items, but they didn't return my call. This is especially annoying since these are three petty items, and it behooves me to replace them myself than to schlepp all the way out there again to take it up with them. I gave them a simple job, and it feels like they picked my pocket. I'm done with them for good. read more

Worst experience ever had. Switch parts in one of my bicycle and acting like nothing happen, plus never deliver my second bicycle after more then week. Never recibe call for update and when and ask after 10 days still don't touch my bicycle. Bad experience whit the worst personal attitude. read more

Gus at the Jones Creek Rd location can wash his hands of me, so to speak. The problems I encountered at that shop cover many things on the issue spectrum, including allowing his buddies to cut in line, in front of me and other customers, picking up the phone to make a call when customers are standing in line. Yesterday after 3 weeks, I picked up my bicycle when I paid to have it fixed and it's as if they never touched it. I should also mention that the new parts that I also paid for and which were clearly listed on the receipt I presented, were not installed! Gus asked a helper to come out and help me while I shopped again for the parts and cover for the mistake he had made. I'll absorb the cost of this mistake. read more

Not sure what's happening here today, but our family went in here looking for new bikes and had a bizarre customer service experience. Walked in and saw no workers at all. A few other customers came in and seemed to know what they were looking for so started shopping around. We finally saw 3 males emerge from the back, and one came in our direction. My husband explained to him that we were looking for a bike that our 8 y/o wouldn't grow out of too quickly. He appeared to be listening and then thinking, but then we waited. And waited. And he never said a word. Stared at us a bit, but not a word. I started thinking maybe he didn't work there. Then, he went behind the counter in the middle so yep, he worked there! The two guys in the back stood there watching. Felt like we were being pranked! We looked around a bit more then just decided to take our business elsewhere. First time we've ever been here and had high hopes, so we were very bummed! read more

Worth the drive! This place is a bit of a drive from campus but if you can get there it is well worth it. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and offer reasonable suggestions. My daughter's bike suffered a punctured tire on the move from Virginia to LSU, and this place was able to replace both tires and tubes on the spot. I was very impressed. There is a huge showroom here, with lots and lots of bikes and accessories. I think this place is awesome and I will definitely come back. read more

I took my trike in for new tires. The company policy is to pay for the repairs in advance, which I did no problems so far. The bike tech said that my trike would be ready in 1-2 hours and I left my bike. Within 15 minutes my wife gets a call and the bike tech says that they made a mistake on my bill and under charged me by about $85. I asked to speak to manager, his name was "Gus" and I informed him that I was not happy about my bill being almost doubled by a mistake made by the staff at Capitol Cyclery. He said that he would call me back with some type of resolution. Needless to say I never got a phone call after almost 4 hours so I decided to call back [before they closed] and I discovered that they weren't even finished repairing my trike and they asked me if I still wanted three tires installed [which is the only reason I took the bike there in the first place]. After about another 30 minutes the bike tech called and said that my trike was repaired. You would think that Gus would have given me at least 10-15% discount, a water bottle, a discount coupon for future repairs or something because of their mistake, think again! This is my 3rd time using the Jones Creek location. I can honestly say that I have never experienced any issues with the service provided by the bike techs, but after my experience today at the bike shop their customer service SUCKS! I think that it is time to switch to a different company/bike shop. I am sure there are other local bike shops that provide accurate quotes for repairs and provide better customer service. read more

Great shop for all your bicycling needs. I stopped in with a nasty flat, they replaced my tube and tore and got me rolling in just a matter of minutes. They also had s huge clearance section. Today the worst experience dealing with capital cycles. First went to Essen store, folks there were helpful. They din not have the part I needed and called Jones Creek store., to Ck on part. The people stated and confirmed possession on part needed. I drove 15 miles to Jones Creek to learn , are you ready? They LIED and din't have part. End on my visiting their business ever again. I hate a liar and especially one that makes me drive in BR traffic for no reason. read more

I just love this bicycle shop on Jones Creek Rd. I have bought several bikes within a 20 year period from them. The guys are great to work with and Gus is awesome. He listened to my needs and special ordered me a Trek Verve 4 a few years ago. I have ridden a few thousand miles on it since and they keep it tuned up and always ready to go every year. My parents came into town and my dad has had this crazy idea to buy a bike and keep it at my house, so when he visits and I'm at work, he can noodle around town. I indulged him and we went over to Capitol Cyclery, and ended up spending a good amount of time there. All of the associates were great, they really know their stuff and helped us find a bike we can both ride. They have a wide array of different bikes, accessories, helmets, gear, and other paraphernalia. They also fix bikes if you need something done or a general tune-up; prices are on the board behind the register. They let my dad ride the bike he was thinking about around the parking lot to make sure it was a good fit, and at the end of the visit, we were very happy with the purchase and help we received, plus now I have a bike in my garage I can ride. Was in town from Texas, needed some LOOK cleats pronto and found this place from Look's website as an authorized dealer. The shop is beautiful and well-organized with a clear emphasis on Trek bikes, perfect for me since that's what I ride. The staff were friendly and the prices were fair, which is to say high but no more than any other LOOK dealer. I knew what I was looking for and there was no guff from the guy selling me the cleats. All and all a very decent shop that I would be comfortable being a regular customer at. read more

I bought a tandem from a local third-party, and the folks at Capital Cyclery really helped me out. They checked out the bike, did some minor maintenance repairs, and boxed the bike. (They even made a custom tandem box for me.) The bike arrived well packed and as described.
