Just received a bill from August of 2022 for an office visit that "exceeded" the amount of my insurance coverage. Except I had insurance that covered my visits at 100% no matter the visit? The "billing department" that you call for the bill is only capable of telling you what it's for and collecting your payment, any other questions you have are directed back to the office. Any other questions regarding the bill, such as WHY I'M GETTING BILLED OVER TWO YEARS LATER is "outside their scope". Please do yourself a favor and go ANYWHERE else. This is now the third bill that I'm fighting because of incorrect billing. Doctors are hit or miss as well. And good luck if you want a VBAC, because they'll guilt trip you into believing that your body is failing you and you'll fall into another c-section like I did. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL. read more

The doctors are kind but their receptionists are unbelievably rude and unprofessional and their billing department has no idea what they're doing, all at the cost of us of course. It's sad because they're so close to home but it's not worth being billed wrong, getting sent to a collections agency, and having an almost year long battle disputing any responsibility. I had a few bad experiences here with multiple different providers. Their providers weren't very gentle with me, which caused pain. Also, they were not as thorough or helpful with recommendations for me for what to do. Then, I had a relatively urgent appointment scheduled and they called and cancelled on me and rescheduled it for a few weeks later. Then, a week before that appointment, they called and canceled again, both times with no explanation. So I went to a different doctors office and they were able to take care of my problem whereas this place was unable to. I will say that the staff was all very nice and friendly though. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM! They have some good doctors but the receptionists are incredibly rude and the billing department has no idea what they are doing and their mistakes cost their customers money. I disputed a bill that was a normal checkup for a Pap smear that they billed as "out patient visit" so my insurance didn't cover it. CWC told me they would look into it and get back to me. Instead I got a call from a collections agency with a fee and it hit my credit. I called CWC and they couldn't explain how the mistake was made to send it to collections since it was being disputed but that there was nothing they could do about it now..... this was my second attempt at using them from 10 years ago. I read reviews and thought they changed but the lack of responsibility is something has stayed very consistent with this company. I have seen more than 2 doctors at this practice and let's just say they really need to practice better bedside manners. The last doctor left me in tears by the way he spoke to me. Please believe me when I say this is the absolute WORST doctors office I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with in over four decades. They have screwed my daughter over and over again. They failed to provide her with urgent lab results for months. Then they put her on a medication that she shouldn't have been put on because of her diagnosis. Then they changed her medicine again. Then they finally told us her diagnosis. Then they said, oh, nevermind, we don't know if we want to state whether this or another thing is her diagnosis. We've seen three or four different doctors at this location and every single one of them have all told my daughter (who is a minor) conflicting information. Then they were supposed to send over a prescription today. They don't. I called the office and reached the after hours answering service. Dr Ray was apparently on call tonight. I have called them and left messages three different times over the last two hours. Each time they told me I will get a call back in 15 minutes and if I don't, then call them back. Still no return call. They have screwed her over time and time again. The doctors are awful, incompetent, uncaring, and I will be filing an official complaint with the medical board over their actions. Do NOT go to this doctors office if you want proper care and to be treated like a human being. read more

I'm not pregnant, I have no desire to be at this time, so I can't speak to their OB services, but I have been seeing Dr. Munson for years at Capitol Women's Care. Location: In an office building adjacent to the Laurel Regional Hospital. It is located on the 4th floor of the building. CWC has two suites now, so go into the main office and they will tell you which suite to find your Doc. I have been to both, they are both nice. I believe they are updating their system, I don't think they use paper charts anymore, during my last visit, Dr. M brought in a computer to update my h/p. Service: I have never had a problem with wait time, poor customer service and the like. I find it hard to believe that folks have had such poor experiences. The only issue that I have had is waiting on hold for an appointment, but that is quite normal these days. If I have have a question, the on call nurse practitioner will answer it, and if I really feel the need to see someone they will fit me in. Dr. Munson is attentive and she takes care to talk to you about any and all concerns. She will explain things to you at a elementary level if needed. I love her. I have always had awesome experiences and I will continue to return for well woman's care. read more

The struggle to find a good OB/GYN in this area is real! Especially moving here from another state and having to start all over with doctors. I decided to give this place a try because they are conveniently located in the same building as my primary care doctor and they are who my primary doctor refers too. My appointment was with midwife Fran Knoll. She was absolutely great! Probably one of the sweetest doctors I know. My husband and I came here for our confirmation, so it wasn't an in-depth visit, but she still answered questions we had and told us some things we have to look forward to throughout this whole process. The young lady at the front desk was also amazing. She was so sweet and polite and just smiling away. I didn't get her name but she was a young black woman with a beautiful smile. She was a great look for people as they are walking in and getting greeted. I really felt super comfortable here and I am sure there are only great things to come from this office from here on out! read more

Been going here for years and when I let them know I was switching doctors and needed my medical records they hung up every time. Now it's less than 24 hours of me needing them and guess what the office is still not cooperating! Fingers crossed they send them to my new doctor or my appointments canceled. The wait time was unbelievably long. It took the doctor an hour before she came into the room. I told her it was my first time getting a PAP smear (really uncomfortable and a bit painful) and all the exams were done in a few minutes. She was very nice but the wait time was terrible to the point where I felt as if I had to warn people who were going to make an appointment. I'm sure there was probably an issue that came up but it would have helped to have someone come in to tell me the doctor was running late or something had come up. I see Fran Knoll the midwife. I like her a lot, she is rushed but she answers all my questions. 4 stars for her! It is the front desk, mainly 2 people. They are so rude. I went here a few years ago and was examined by Dr. Munson. I asked her about premenopausal symptoms and is there a test to find out if I'm approaching that stage. She quickly informed me that if I'm not in menopause, I'm premenopausal. Then she went on to say there wasn't a test for that. I was so upset. Needless to say, I took my business elsewhere. I must say that I've been serviced by Nurse Knoll on occasion and she is great at this practice. Dr. Munson, not so much. read more

Absolute worse experience I have had in healthcare. I would never recommend this facility to anyone seeking competent care. I have been a registered nurse for the past 10 years, but by no stretch of the imagination have I had any experiences in Obstetrics. I moved to Laurel from Washington DC about 2 years ago and came across this clinic then after reviewing some fair ratings in addition. to the fact that it was in close proximity to my new home. After my husband and I became pregnant it made sense to me to continue my care at the same facility where I had received my yearly well-woman checkups. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant and had been receiving care at this establishment since I was 6 weeks pregnant. I have a history of fibroids, however no other past medical history in addition to receiving a myomectomy with Dr. Ein sometime in 2019. I began to see Dr. Norman and Dr. Coates for my prenatal care. I never received detailed prenatal education, and I never was informed as to how fibroids were effected during pregnancy. Again, I trusted Dr. Norman and Dr. Coates, and I believed that they would provide me with the best information possible. I felt even safer with Dr. Coates because she was a black woman and by default I gave her the benefit of any doubt. When I was 16 weeks after leaving work I drove myself to the emergency room where I met my husband. I was in the worse pain I had ever experienced in my life. I contacted Dr. Nelson who was on call that weekend who advised me to visit the emergency room for evaluation. Once there I received an ultrasound that revealed that the fibroid at the base of my uterus that was once much less than 5cm was now 7.3cm and likely degenerating causing extreme pain. I was told to follow up with Dr. Norman within a day. I did so. I was irate. Why had they not been monitoring the growth of my fibroids throughout the course of my pregnancy? Why had they not warned me that this was a possibility? Why as a healthcare professional did I feel the most vulnerable in a field that Ive worked for the last 10 years? I visited Dr. Norman the following Tuesday. I sat in his office communicating my concerns. Seeing the frustration on my face he rushed to look at records that obviously were not reviewed prior to my line of questioning. I demanded to be referred to a high risk doctor. Dr. Norman stated that he would even though "they're going to tell you the same things I've told you". Dr. Norman wasn't buying the degenerating fibroid theory even though all the stars were aligning. I had severe pain, a 7cm fibroid at the base of my uterus, and if he possessed any level of care he would have also noted that my hemoglobin was now 8.7 on the emergency room report, prior blood work taken from his facility was 11.8. Dr. Norman play doctor, took out his portable doppler, placed it to my abdomen to listen for a heart beat. This was the extent of his assessment. Disgusting in retrospect. I followed up at Georgetown with a high risk doctor. Godsent. I was in awe of the staff. From the front desk clerks to the ultrasound tech to the physician. Everyone was warm, welcoming and attention detailed. I was examined and was found to actually have a 10cm fibroid at the base of my uterus and was quickly diagnosed with degenerating fibroids after clear view on ultrasound. I feel as if Im in good hands. My doctor even called me over the weekend to ensure that I was doing well and to let me know that he was attempting to get me in for my second appointment even sooner. I am extremely happy that things unraveled when they did. My recommendation, if you have any preexisting issues, please do not waste your time at this clinic. Take your health and the health of your little one into your own hands and find the best doctors to provide you with the best care. -Safe delivery beloveds. read more

Lisa Lewis, P.A. was very friendly and made me feel comfortable while there. I went in for an annual exam and I completed everything in a short amount of time (even though I was late to my appointment). I really liked the check in automated service. That was my first time checking in at a Drs office that way. Much appreciated. It is also close to home which helps out a lot. The reason I gave Capital Women's Care 4 stars is due to the front desk staff. The staff struck me as not wanting to be there and it was only 9:30a. They didn't make me feel welcome at all. I would suggest for the ladies to work on their customer service techniques. After all, they are the first people patients see upon arrival :-) read more

I was very disappointed by this office and by Dr. Offor. I went in for an annual exam and the normal pap smear swabs were taken. I got a call a few days later saying the Dr. had failed to take a proper sample, so it could not be analyzed and I needed to come back in for another swab. I was then charged double for the same procedure which was in no way my fault or my choice. When I called to inquire, I was told that unless the Dr. admitted that it was her fault that the swab was taken incorrectly the first time, I had to pay for both procedures. I have never had any sort of problem like this at any other Dr. I have been to. read more

I personally dread going to the ob/gyn because of horrible waits at other offices (3 hours?!) But this one makes it less nerve racking. I get in there quickly (the majority of the time if you're not going in right away it's because of insurance, not the office itself!) And my ob/gyn is quick, but I don't feel totally rushed and can get my questions in without feeling like I'm being shoved out the door. read more

I want to share with you about one of the best doctors I have had the pleasure to know and trust. His name is Dr. Andrew Block and he is located at 7350 Van Dusen Road, Laurel, MD (301) 490-8882. I have been his patient for many years before he came to Capital Women's Care and I want to tell you that I have the deepest respect for him. Dr. Block is kind, a gentle giant, compassionate and the most emphatic doctor I know. I am now a Breast Cancer survivor thanks to him and many of the team of doctors he recommended to me. At the time I was diagnosed during a regular mammogram, they needed to do a sonogram so they contacted Dr. Block. When I was told that it was Cancer, do you know that the minute I opened my door at home, Dr. Block was on the phone telling me not to worry and all the other things I needed to hear. He never drops the ball when it comes to helping his patients any time he can. He just never gives up, even when he's been up all night at the hospital delivering babies he's still in the office the next day. He always thanks me for waiting for him and I told him, "you are worth waiting for" and I mean it. Thank you Dr. Block. read more

This was my first visit to an OB-GYN here in Maryland after moving from Georgia and away from my Kaiser gyno who I absolutely LOVED! We are trying for our second baby and I have some more traditional birthing beliefs. I brought these up with Dr. DeQuatrro and she was very open to them! She let me ask lots of questions and even took the time to take a second look at something I brought up after her initial exam. I didn't have to wait long, maybe a like 10 min past my appt time, but I figured it was bc it was my first visit. No bigs! read more

I have been here a couple of times. My biggest complain is the wait time. Why do I have to sit in the lobby for 1 hour before I can go back to the examination room? Once in the examination room the nurse comes in right way, but you will not see the doctor for another 1/2 hour for an initial consultation. Then they ask you to put on the gown and tell you that they will be right back. After another 20 minutes you finally get to your exam. I have seen Dr Tamara Coates most of the time I have been there and she always seem to be in a rush to move on to the next patient. I always feel like if I ask a question I'm imposing on her. Don't get me wrong, not all doctors are the same, but It is so frustrating to have to spend 2 hours there when I could have been in and out in 1/2 hours. Why do they assume that my time is not as valuable of theirs? I will search of a new OBGYN. read more

I think that these reviewers are stretching it. Maybe this practice is good for prenatal care. They are pretty impersonal and I feel like they are more like a factory. They don't spend much time with you at all. I had an annual exam today and she didn't ask anything about family history, nothing about sexual practices, etc. I had two aunts diagnosed with breast cancer and there was not a form that would elicit that information. I just think they are all about fitting you into time slots and they are not really focused on becoming anyone's primary gynecologist and taking into consideration risk factors, history, etc. There are things that they should be discussing me and asking me at this age. I think the exam and her asking me if I smoke, drink, or whether I had any surgeries took 10 minutes tops and she was out the room. I was left to get changed and no one came back after that. I am so disappointed with this place. It was lucky to only get 2 stars from me, and the only reason I gave it 2 stars was because when I finally did get seen, at least they listened to my problems. But anyway, my experience with this place was not the greatest. Wait time was way to long, you have an "appointment" at 9am, and don't get seen til 10:30am. Then when you finally do get called back, take your weight and blood pressure and tell u to go and sit and wait another 30 min. I don't mean any harm, but when you are dealing with pregnant women, you can't just have them sitting all day long in one spot....were hungry, gotta per and some of us have lives, not to mention, all the other issues. My biggest problem was front desk though. I came to find this place through my insurance, but I called first to make sure that I was COVERED WITH MY INSURANCE. Upon faxing over my insurance card to the lady at front desk weeks before coming, she insured me that I was COVERED and could come in for my first appointment. Upon arriving I again gave them my records of pregnancy to the front desk (because this was to be my new doctor for this pregnancy), filled out paperwork, and gave my insurance card to the front desk. After filing out all I did, I was seen for testing and blood work and etc that day. But no sonogram. Now what makes this review negative, is because the 3rd time I came to this place for my appointment, I was then told, that I was not covered for all the previous work done and would have to pay out of pocket and advised to get Medicaid. Why wasn't this figured out, BEFORE I got work done I ask? Because it's not our job to verify your insurance. I have never heard of such!! So if I came in with car insurance they would have took me because they don't check coverage, they just send out bills. Then she proceeded to tell me that they had to do a verification of pregnancy before they start billing anything. First off, was my papers that I AM PREGNANT from my previous on/gyn that was a dictionary thick not enough to say, she's pregnant, or maybe my poked out belly hanging out my shirt not enough. I have never heard of such ridiculous policy in all my life!! I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION AND WILL BE COMPLAINING TO THE HEAD! read more

The only reason I gave this one star is because there is one nurse in particular who is amazing! Their prenatal doctors are the worst. I haven't had too much trouble with wait time but the bedside manner is terrible. In dealing with any patient you should at least be tactful in the way you word things and especially with pregnant women who have emotions running all over. This is my first pregnancy and I will never use them or recommend them to anyone ever. It's like a free clinic atmosphere and attitude. They don't tend to explain things and when they do it's worse case scenario but given to you as if that is the only outcome. I'm 7 months and may have to have my baby early depending on the outcome of my specialist visit which I love and have no affiliation with capital womens care. If they don't induce labor I WILL be changing my OBGYN because I have had it up to here. Also I had to request a different sono tech because one has an attitude like "why are you bothering me". Highly unprofessional office. Doctor and sono tech wise. read more

If you are a pregnant woman that doesnt mind being passed from Doctor to Doctor this is your place. I was experiencing low back pain and told three doctors within a three day period. I was told by all of them this was normal. I was really experincing a miscarriage. Even though I passed the baby at the hospital, this business (not doctor's office) would not let the ER complete the process (D&C)becuase it has its own medical speciality clinic. This is by far the saddest example of greed and unconcern I have seen in my life. read more

I was not pleased with this practice. On the upside I will say that the front office staff was very nice, but that is where it ends. Dr. Norman laughed when my husban and I told him that we wanted to have a natural child birth with no medication involved and told me that I would end up wanting an epidural. Dr. DeQuattro is the WORST doctor I have ever seen; she is very rude and nasty. If you must go to this practice and you can avoid her for any appointments, PLEASE DO SO!! She performed a vaginal exam of my cervix with her finger and told me my cervix seemed short and that we could have a miscarriage at 20 weeks and lose our child. She offered no comfort in delivering the message that my husband and I could lose our child except to come in for the "emergency sonogram" the next morning. When we came in the next morning for the "emergency sonogram" that she ordered, not only was the sonographer not aware that she was to be checking the length of my cervix but when I let her know she should be checking the length she informed us that my cervix was the correct length and there were no concerns. At 20 weeks Dr. DeQuattro allowed me and my husband to leave from the doctor's appointment with thoughts of a miscarriage; I was worried and in tears the rest of the evening and we both had a very sleepless night all due to a 2min vaginal cervical exam. As one can imagine, we chose not to return there for any appointments and I found another practice. I would not ever recommend this practice to anyone else! read more

I recently went to visit Dr Brad Norman (September 2011), for stomach pain, heaviness in my lower abdomen, and painful/excessive bledding during my cycle. Dr Norman did a pelvic exam and pap smear, he also had me go into the next room for a pelvic sonogram. After receiving the sonogram report Dr Norman came back into the room and told me my sono looked good, and he wasnt sure why I was having the pain, but it wasnt anything to worry about. He told me I probably needed to see an Upper GI doctor. I was really confused because I Knew my pain was not gastrointestinal. I also asked for a CA125 test. My results showed an elevation and Dr Norman referred me to an oncologist . After a few days of still being in pain I was referred by a friend to Dr. Dickman at Capital Womens Care in silver spring. I ended up seeing the oncologist and Dr Dickman on the same day. Id also taken a copy of my sonogram to them. Both Docs were a little confused as to why Dr Norman had dismissed me so quickly. My sono showed that I had an elarged uterus, multiple fibroid tumors on the inside and outside of my uterus, and also on my right ovary. Both My oncologist, and Dr Dickman agreed that I would def need a hysterectomy ASAP to alleviate the pain. My stomach looked as if I was 3 months pregnant. I agreed to stay under Dr Dickmans care. Surgery was scheduled for Nov 17, 2011. As the weeks rolled on my condition worsened, and I passed out a work. I remained in the hospital until my surgery. After my surgery Dr Dickman informed me that 2 of my fibroids were the size of grapefruits! I dont know why Dr Norman brushed me off, but i'm glad I sought out a second opinion.
