I've gone to Capital SUP a few times for paddle boarding. Every time I've gone I've had a great time. The staff is friendly and helpful. The equipment is in great condition. There are two locations. I've only been to the marina side. On the marina side, you get beautiful views and see the bay bridge. However, the water can be pretty bumpy in some places since boats go in and out. It's about 10-15 minutes from downtown Annapolis. Free parking. An hour of rental is about $30. read more

I truly love and appreciate Capital SUP and their offerings. While this season wasn't that great due to air quality from the wild fires and rain, safety was their top priority. This season was a first for their Nautilus Point and I'm glad they found another location where we can kayak around staring at all the lovely boats. They also have a location at Quiet Waters Park. They do offer monthly, seasonal or per rental options. You can rent kayaks, stand up paddle boards (SUP), canoes, and a few other options. They also offer event rides and the best one is when the Blue Angels are in town. Everyone that works here is super friendly and kind. Looking forward to next season. read more

I went with a group and one of my friends set everything up so I don't have a lens into the booking experience. Staff were friendly, pleasant, and knowledgeable. They provided good customer service. Only bummer was we started a little late because we were waiting on safety devices (life vests and waist safety bands) from a previous group. Staff were aware and calmly apologetic for the late start. The supplies all seemed in very reasonable condition. Had a nice time on the water. The view while on the water is a lot of boats, not nature so much, but that's to be expected with this location. One of my friends saw a ton of snakes near the dock. It's okay, nature needs a place among us... just be mindful when entering and exiting the water on the left! Would definitely go back! read more

My 10 year old daughter attended the Full day summer camp for a week in the middle of July (it was soooo HOT this week). She is an average swimmer and had a little exposure to paddle boarding. By the end of the week when I asked her if she liked it, she said she LOVED it. She learned a lot, enjoyed being outdoors and met new friends (kids and counselors alike!) Booked our reservation online and and signed the electronic waiver for 2 hours SUP rental a couple days before. Thanks to an offer code on Yelp, we got 15% off. Others mentioned taking lessons in Spa Creek, but since we were on our own, we launched in Back Creek and were limited to its perimeter. Back Creek is basically a marina with lots of boats docked (use the Google satellite to see what I'm talking about). We had to watch out for boats and paddle out of their way at times. There are a few spots where it's quiet and you can relax a bit. I was pleased with going for 2 hours, as I think 1 hour would have been rushing it a bit. Service at Capital SUP was terrific and the process went smoothly to get our boards and paddles. You are required to wear either a life jacket or a life belt that looks like a fanny pack. They don't have nice restroom facilities but porta-potties. There is a drop off point right in front, but you can't park there. Their parking lot is a few hundred yards walk on a trail (about 5 minutes walk). read more

Tried stand up paddleboarding for the first time and it was fun! We were walk-ins on a Saturday afternoon and they easily fit us in without too long of a wait. Just signed the waiver and paid. My critique would be: I wish we got more detailed instructions. The 2 groups head of us got more information. Things I wish they told me: best way to stand up without falling, you should flex your feet or they'll start hurting, how to get back in if you fall off, etc. Thankfully I was listening. Even after telling the employee that it was my first time and that I was nervous, he didn't provide any additional tips, just said "You'll do great". I'm also glad I did some reading on standup paddleboarding so I wasn't totally lost. Other things to note: - They do have a porto potty where you can change. - They have unlocked cubbies. - They do have a water fountain. - Plenty of areas to chill and wait before and after your session. - Parking isn't on site but there is a gravel road that connects the parking lot to Capital SUP. If you take the scenic route, you need to take a right up the stairs, then another right at the fork. It would've been helpful to have ONE more sign. read more

Absolutely the BEST Learning Experience I have had in a very long time and travel and take many excursions! Sophie was absolutely a Gem! so patient. extremely knowledgeable and pleasant to spend the afternoon with. I will definitely be signing up for membership. As a first time paddle boarder - my goal was to learn the basics of the Paddle world, get comfortable with the equipment, get comfortable with paddling while kneeling to get the feel of balance before actually standing. she did not force anyone to stand so I accomplished my Goals. I will go out again, feel the comfort and maybe on third lesson take a stab at actually standing - and if I don't succeed I will keep trying knowing that I understand the basics and feel comfortable with the equipment and my surroundings. Went for Ladies Night on a Friday. It was great! I brought my own inflatable paddle board so I did not have to pay. My friend and I paddled out in Spa Creek and it was great! Very pretty. We were promptly served, it was early and there weren't any other people there so we go out a few minutes early. I can't say enough good things about Capital SUP. It's my second time going and I took my parents, brother and in-laws to kayak/SUP. Unfortunately my dad fell in the water () and his phone fell out of his protection pouch. They not only pulled him out of the water and got him back into a kayak but the employees also took his phone and worked on drying it while we were on the water. We had signed up for an event and had never been to Capital SUP before. We followed the address that was in the email sent to us right after we booked and that was also in a second email sent 2 days before the event. When we arrived, we were told we were at the wrong location and that the correct location was 1.5 hours away. We showed the onsite staff our email which he agreed was the wrong address and was very apologetic. The onsite staff was incredibly nice and accomdating and we were able to still rent paddle boards and have a great time. Unfortunately, when the owner, Kevin, called the next day to confirm our credit for missing the event, he was extremely rude. He told me that he "couldn't understand" how we could have "read the email wrong" and repeatedly insisted that he would only give me credit, not a refund (which I already agreed with and never mentioned a refund). When I rechecked the email I received 2 days prior to the event, it does indeed have the wrong address which is the location we drove to. I wasn't upset about the miscommunication until Kevin was rude for no reason and blaming us for something that was clearly wrong on their end. read more

Most recently, we purchased a couple used boards and I couldn't say enough about how helpful they, Chris, in particular was in helping us get set up - from an extremely fair price for the boards and accessories to helping a rookie like myself getting it on the car.
