It only getting 2stars is because half of the staff that I usually go to doesn't work there anymore and the others that does my nails now is good but not great. Everyone there are very friendly so it makes the experience better.
Location is not that bad, pretty convenient with the MTA. Close to a lot of small boutique kind of shopping but other than clothes, there is also markets, jewelry store, and housewares kind of stores.
The results of my nails really depend on the staff that is doing my nails, they don't tell you their names so it's hard to point out who is good and who is bad. Who gets to do your nails is really random depending on who is available and who is it up to, I guess it is because they don't want one particular person doing all the things while the other do nothing.
The only male there now is the boss, he does the nails pretty decent. Once you enter the store, the two female staffs by the left are the ones that been there for the passed years and it doesn't seem like they are going to leave anytime soon since their skills are like the results of the way they do my nails, good, not great. But beware of the first one you see on the left though because I had here do tips and regular manicure on me like twice each and I regret it every time I get it done by her. I tried to be positive and think that 'o maybe it's just this time', no it is every time, my friends got it done by her and I got mines done by her and we either end up hating our nails and went somewhere else to fix it afterwards.
My 2nd last experience there, I end up having that first one on the left doing my nails. While she paint my nails, I told her that it look like it is bubbly then she said there is nothing and continued and simply just ignored me. After she painted them while my nails are drying there, the nail polish got really ugly with a LOT of bubbles all over. It was very obvious too and when I told her about it, she said that there was nothing, she is either in denial or she seriously need to get her eyes check. Other than the bubbles, the design look ugly since I paid extra for it and she did a very lazy, crappy job but I could still deal with it. I told her to fix it and she said since the job was done already, I would have to pay again to have it redone. I think that was crazy because I been telling her that I had a problem with it when she just first started painting them till now. I made a fuzz because it was really ugly. So I didn't mind paying again, yea that's right AGAIN to have my nails done, this time it was still crappy but at least it wasn't as bad. After that time, I swear to never go to her again. And I also got a pedicure before she did my manicure, I didn't realize it till I got home and took a closer look, but the polish was NOT even and she did a very sloppy job on it, I still saw some cubicles sticking out which is obviously from her cutting but she didn't remove the whoe thing.
Last time I went there with my bf, the boss did my nails. The nails were nice since I went for a simple manicure but not great because I guess he didn't want to get the polish on my skin so it kind of look like it was just polish in the middle of the nail, with a gap from my cubicle like I got them painted for awhile that it is growing out. I am not too crazy about it since I didn't have high expectations and was mainly there to accompany my bf while he got a pedicure. YES, you read that right, my bf, got a pedicure, well he didn't go the whole nine yard with the polish. He basically only went because from so much walking and flip flop wearing, he got thick yucky callus and lots of dead skin on his feet. He end up having a young female that I never really saw there, my assumption is that she is in the process of learning there since it seem like everyone is bossing her around. But she did a GREAT job, My manicure was fast so I sat next to him and chat while I wait but she didn't rush which I was glad because I want my bf to get his money worth and I don't mind waiting since my nails got to dry anyway. Not only did she take her time, she actually put effort into removing the callus and dead skin. Since my bf don't need her to paint his toes, not even a clear coat, she told her to hold her and let her double check and remove any tiny bit of extra cubicles.
So if getting tips, the 2nd lady at the left and the boss is good. Manicure and pedicure, I would trust whoever is the person in training because they actually put a lot more effort into it.
