He noticed right away that although everything was in the "ON" position, the pilot light was out. Trying to support local small business I found this company from an ad on kijiji…read more Upon arrival he conducted himself somewhat professionally, I've met worse. He performed a quick 20sec visual inspection of the fire box, then he went outside to climb onto the roof. All the other chimney cleaning companies that I had used over the last several decades would all come back in the house after running the tools down the chimney, and they would then clean out the venturi tubes, and the debris from the fire box that fell during the cleaning process. During this time they would also remove the stone heat surround inside the fire box, inspect everything, clean it out, and then re-install the fire bricks and venturi tubes. However this company does no such cleaning. Later when I mentioned that he failed to do this part of the job in an online review of this company, he claimed that it was an extra charge. However I am the type of person that will ALWAYS pay the extra to get a job done properly and professionally the first time without hassles. Do the job right the first time, and you should not have to worry about it going wrong, or having to deal with unsatisfactory revues from customers. He claims to use some sort of video inspection system. However I never saw any proof that he used any such equipment. As he refused to send me the report and video that he says is provided with the cost of service. I phoned him more than 6 times leaving messages, sent him numerous e-mails to his company address, as well as used the kijiji e-mail to send him messages from his posted ad. All I got was the same excuse that someone died that week, and he would send it out FRIDAY and then he stopped responding to any phone messages or e-mails. Maybe I was mistaken, perhaps he meant the last Friday of July 2025, lol. Initially I felt that his performance was acceptable, nothing spectacular, or amazing, just acceptable. I informed him of this when I first contacted him looking for my reports, mistakenly believing that if I gave him a bit of praise he would actually send me the report and video, I however was sadly mistaken. All I received was excuses, and then silence. He's completely capable of sending nasty e-mails to me because of my online reviews, however he seems incapable of being able to use his e-mail to send me my report and video. I personally go out of my way to try and support the little guy when it comes to business. I am always willing to pay for professional quality services. Even if the little guy is more expensive than the corporate giant, I will use the little guy. However when the little guy uses fear tactics to get the job, then doesn't provided all the services he advertises, stops all communication, I feel it is my obligation to warn others so that they don't have to pay two companies to do the same job, so that you can get proper documentation, as I had to do because of this company. Should you decide to use this company, I would recommend NOT letting him leave your home until you have your REPORT and VIDEO in your possession, be it in your hand physically, or in you e-mail inbox. If you let him leave on the promise that he will e-mail you the info, you will never receive the report or video.
