While there have been outstanding hotels, this one, The Residence Inn by Marriott Downtown Raleigh, NC, tops them! From the first moment we walked in the lobby and were greeted warmly, to check out when they acted like they were so happy we'd stayed there..everyone was friendly, kind, and so helpful! The lobby is decorated so nicely! The chandeliers are cool! Each one throughout the hotel is different. We found them in hallways, the restaurant, the lobby, near the elevators..everywhere! Just a cool, chic place! We had breakfast in the Overlook restaurant in the hotel each morning of our stay. Each morning was an all you can eat, buffet style, amazing spread! There were scrambled eggs each morning (we were there for three mornings), but different meats, different types of potatoes, grits, oatmeal, cold cereals, fruits, yogurts, an array of breads, juices, a coffee bar with tea and hot chocolate as well, and soooooo many toppings and spreads to go on anything you want. Our room was very nice, very clean, and the shower is huge! The staff was attentive, both in the restaurant and the hotel as a whole. Our tv went out twice, and both times when we called the front desk, they apologized and sent a tech up to help us. The housekeepers checked in to make sure we had whatever ever we needed; and everywhere we turned there was friendliness. Our hotel was directly across the street from the Martin Marietta theater where we had tickets for a show. So, after a yummy dinner in the Overlook restaurant, we strolled across the street and enjoy an evening with Henry Cho! We walked around downtown, enjoyed a weekend away from home, and felt very safe and secure. We will definitely be back, Residence Inn! We were tickled with the stay and the attention to detail you guys hand out! We will be back, Residence Inn!!

I put it in bed this morning and when I came back to the hotel, it DISAPPEARED. We tried everything to find it in our room, looked everywhere on the floor, in the luggages, in the closet, under the couch and couldn't find it after more than an hour of searching. The front desk said housekeeper DIDN'T touch our bed, which was clearly a lie because a towel which I put on bed last night to prevent menstrual blood on the sheets was also gone. I really wish the police can arrest this housekeeper, except I know it won't happen. PLEASE STEER CLEAR AWAY FROM THIS GARBAGE HOTEL WHO STEAL FROM YOU.

Please do not send theses people ANY money unless you are absolutely sure that you will be taking…read moretheir tour. It has been a life long dream of mine to retrace the steps of the civil rights movement. While googling "Civil Rights Tours" I found The Wake-Raleigh Martin Luther King 2011 bus tour. I contacted them, sent my deposit and was waiting patiently for my trip. Everything was going along just fine until my sister became very ill and doctors informed us that my sister had 3-4 weeks to live. Which meant instead of taking this tour that I had looked forward to, I would be planning my sisters funeral. I immediately contacted the 2011 Martin Luther King Civil Rights Heritage Tour Travelers Committee to explain my situation I was told that my refund would be mailed out in a few days ( no mention of any fees). Much to my surprise and dismay my refund was returned less a $50.00 "Admin Fee". While there website clearly states that a full refund is returned if the trip is cancelled 45 days out. I spoke with Mr Prins 46 days prior to the tour at which time he explained that the check wrietr was out of town ( Mr. Lighttner) and would return on Monday. When I contacted the committee specifically Mr. Bruce Lighttner He informed me that he and Mr Prnce were morticians and feel that my displeasure was a result of my loss. He never expressed any empahay or compassion instead he responded in a very rude, insensitive and threatening manner. There is no way that this cancellation cost anything in "Admin fees" or otherwise. While my initial intent was to rebook in 2012. I will NEVER book with this company.

If there was a way to give zero stars; I would have done it. I was literally assaulted and robbed…read moreby this company's taxi driver. I needed a ride from Glenwood to State Campus, I was picked up by a little old lady. i later found out her name was Lee Churchill. From the very second I sat down in the cab this lady complained about her job NONSTOP, and how Uber was ruining her life. Then, begged me to let her pick up her stranded cousin saying that it was "right on the way and she would take $10 off my fare." Sounded simple enough. It was not on the way. We took a 20 minute detour riding in circles trying to find this girl. I was already late for work so I was starting to get a little irritated, the entire cab ride took almost an hour. AN HOUR! Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, I go to hand the lady $40 on a $30 cab ride, and she doesn't have change. What cab driver doesn't carry change? I absolutely was not going to tip her after the experience, so I asked for a $20 bill back to see if my roommate might be able to break it. She told me she didn't trust me to come back out with the money, and told me to ride to the nearest store with her to break the bill, which is about 10 minutes from my house. At this point I am livid. I asked her to wait in the car while I call the company to try to figure out what we should do at this point. I'm hoping to get the full $20 back because at this point the shit is beyond ridiculous, but as the phone is ringing, the lady lays on her horn outside my apartments. Mind you it's early in the day and this is completely obnoxious. I go outside to see her charging at me with a HANDFUL OF COINS (which clearly do not amount to $10). She drops the coins on the hood of my car, cursing at me the whole time. I walk back to her cab with her and drop the coins in her front seat, telling her I was not going to accept that change and that she needed to wait until I had her company on the phone. As I dropped the coins back into her car, she shoved me out of the way, grabbed my phone and hat from the backseat (I was using my roommates at this point because mine was dead), THROWS IT OUT OF HER CAR ONTO THE PAVEMENT and peels out of my neighborhood going like 60, keeping the $40. I was FLABBERGASTED. I spoke with Emanuel, the company owner, and the best solution he could offer me was an apology and to come personally return the $10 in change. I still paid for the service, and am currently in the process of taking legal action for the events that occurred outside my home. Thank goodness my neighbors saw everything. Seriously though, if you're stranded in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and Express Taxi is the only ride you have to safety.... You're better off fighting the zombies. I am honestly extremely concerned that this company still employs this woman and that she is allowed to be around customers. It's extremely alarming to know that not only did an employee put their hands on me and my belongings, steal my money, and drive erratically through a residential area to avoid me getting her tags, but that when informed about the situation, the owner allowed it. Next time I'll use Uber.

Ms. Churchill is not a little old lady, and it's hard to imagine anyone describing her that way. I suspect that someone else picked up Morgan N., and used Ms. Churchill's name. The events described do not sound like Ms. Churchill, who is a pleasant and experienced taxi driver in the Raleigh-Durham area. I wonder whether Morgan N. simply asked her driver to give her some quiet space, as Morgan N. seems to have been disturbed by her driver's conversation. Ms. Churchill is not the kind of person that would throw a customer's belongings onto the street. Marshall D.
