Cute little Cafe! The service was quick and friendly! Each table had a little vintage/ classic toy to mess with as well!! I am typically not a fan of cheese forward things, but the Halloumi Sandwich was amazing!!! The cheese was perfectly toasted with the perfect among of chutney and pickled cabbage! read more

Capitaine Sandwich - Haloumi and Cappuccino - Sandwiches Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

I was looking for a place to sit down in the area on a hot day. This restaurant has a small terrace that has shade from the building. While I was there I had an iced tea and their breakfast sandwich. As far as takeout breakfast sandwiches goes, this may have been one of the best ones. The restaurant is definitely on the divey side but I would recommend. read more

The Déjeunan is a fun and successful twist on the standard breakfast sandwich. This one is incredibly tasty with the rich addition of chopped bacon and sausage adding a depth to the eggs and cheese, all folded inside a pressed naan. Brilliant! 4 stars for a tasty sandwich that hit all the right notes. Unfortunately, I only ordered one, not two. My daughter ordered Le Cubain. As we requested our order to go, we did not discover the error until we arrived back to our place. 2 stars for fumbling our order, unfortunately. Though our service was very pleasant and kind, so hopefully a rare mistake and a reminder to me to always check my order before leaving. read more

Capitaine Sandwich - Déjeunan - Sandwiches Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

A great spot to stop for a quick bite along one of le Plateau's lovely pedestrian streets! There is a great selection of pitas, sandwiches, and subs. There were a few vegetarian options as well, and each sounded so good that I had a difficult time choosing! I had the halloumi and it was delicious (the added mint and coriander really made it!). My only complaint is that the bread was not anything special - for the price, I would have hoped for something that tasted homemade, or at least had some flavour. Beyond the food, staff were kind and service was quick! The space is charming and there is a terrasse outside with plenty of extra seating. I'm planning to go back soon to try another! read more

Capitaine Sandwich - Halloumi sandwich (left) and Cuban sandwich (right) - Sandwiches Near Me - Montreal, Quebec

*** 3.5 out of 5 stars *** During my stroll on Duluth street to pick up some wine, I see quite a few people holding a panini style sandwich. I didn't had any lunch as yet, it prompted me to get one. I couldn't find the actual store, but then I find a store sign with a picture of a sandwich and see people waiting outside for their order. That's a positive sign that it's good:) They have a quite a few selections, I chose the first one assuming it was the most popular one. I got the "popette", which is basically a meatball sub. I asked the cashier, how long is the wait, she said 15-20 minutes. I was quite surprised for just a sandwich, but I got one anyhow. The meatball sub was fresh and delicious. I particular like the roll they used, every bite was crunchy and wasn't too doughy or "bread"dy. The only drawback was the wait. 20 minute wait for just a sub. Worth the wait again? Not really :). But the sandwich was good though! read more

I had the cubano and it was quite good! Nice casual place with good service! And their kombucha selection is really good also

An exceptionally refreshing and very light sandwich with a perfect balance of ingredients and moist, fresh bread ; located in a very lovely area of the Montreal borough of le Plateau - it will make you feel like standing on your desk and blurting out poetry. read more

Its a bold move to start a sandwich shop walking distance from some of the most legendary delis - in the world. Yet CS fearlessly challenges the competition and at least in my case delivers. The sandos we got were more snack than meal but the no line and nice outside seating gets Capitaine an extra star. read more

Good lunch alternative when the line at Schwartz's was too long! Tasty and easy. Outdoor seating.

Sure it's a small physical spot (pretty much a walk-up window for take-out these days) and so you might simply pass by it. In that case you may need to rely on word-of-mouth or look out for their brown paper 'sandwich' bags in and around the area. Seems the place has a solid local following; those folks are in the know. I figured I'd grab one for lunch (they aren't open for dinner). They have a short but enough selection list of sandwiches. I was told by a few people and the counter person that the Big Naan was the one to go with for the first time round. It's a slight take on a Big Mac because of a similar sauce, you might imagine. The sauce was pretty good and the overall blend of flavors were tasty, but since I wasn't able to eat the sandwich while super fresh and warm the Naan bread got a bit chewy. Therefore, not as noteworthy as it might have been straight away. But, I still get why they've got the word-of-mouth going for them. read more

I was sharpening up my Yelp! search skills looking for a new lunch experience today and discovered this TINY place on Duluth. By TINY I mean it seats two comfortably and has a window counter that stands another 2 somewhat comfortably. TINY! I walked in and the Capitaine switched from French to English at first sight (am I really that obvious?), greeting me warmly and offering up a postcard serving double duty as a menu. There were maybe half a dozen sandwiches on the regular menu plus another 3 specials. They all looked good so I mentioned it was my first time in and asked him to make something for me. He delivered a toasty and tasty Le Big Nan with a side of potato salad and an iced tea. The sandwich was simple but tasted great, I found myself wondering why I can't make a sandwich this good at home. There must be a secret. I like, but certainly don't love, potato salad. This one in particular was trying to warn me off with a healthy dose of fresh dill (I don't generally like dill). Hmm...it was excellent too. There was a steady stream of happy regulars grabbing sandwiches and chili to go in fact I bet this place is awesome in summer as a takeout option. Total tab with tax and tip was $15, about right for what was on the plate, but try to find a fast food lunch anywhere near as good for the same money! I'll be back. read more

A hidden gem!! Had the dejeunan sandwich and it was PERFECTLY cooked - wanted to take a picture but finished it too quickly - the egg was exceptional, cooked just enough that it wasn't a mess and still slightly runny. The naan was fresh and the flavours came together so beautifully. We just happened to be walking by and the owner wasn't even officially open but he accommodated us so nicely. PLEASE go visit capitaine sandwich! You won't be disappointed. read more
