We have quite a complicated system with 2 electrical panels and a legacy solar panel array that produced 6.3KW peak power, but I needed to set up zero export to comply with my insurance. Cape fear sold me a dual battery (EnPhase 5p) with special EnPhase controllers. The salesperson and install teams were very nice, but the support team had the brunt of the challenge and worked tirelessly with the manufacturer to figure out the unique challenges for our environment. Hats off to Kyle and Travis for staying with this to get to the bottom of the issues. We have a utility with 'peak usage' pricing and now we barely use any utility power during the peak periods and stay within the (albeit strange) insurance requirements. Our insurance premium is much less than companies that allow exporting, so this works for us. read more

They did a fantastic job, kept me informed throughout the entire process, carefully explained each step and charged a reasonable price. I couldn't have asked for a better partner to install solar on my home! read more

Contacted Cape Fear Solar around August of 2023. Talked to Caleb. Caleb was very helpful and not pushy at all. He really took the time to dive deep into what we wanted. Did not try to push any certain product or brand. Built the system exactly as we wanted with his recommendations on how to get the most for our money. We were trying to meet a few deadlines between Duke Energy and Tesla. They met/beat our timelines on everything. Our install date was in October and their install team was fantastic. The lead technition was Jackson. I believe he may be the smartest person I have ever met. He and his team were fantastic in every way. Professional, punctional, and very detail oriented. The system was installed perfectly with no corners cut. There were numerous ways they could have cut corners to save time or money, but they always chose or asked what we wanted to either look the best or work the best. After installation, there was a few kinks in our system that were Tesla software related. Their team was always responsive and on top of the situation, making sure we were taken care of. I have even went by to meet the owner and he was awesome to talk to. I would not hesitate to recommend Cape Fear Solar to anyone in the market for Solar. In the days where customer service is dwindling, Cape Fear Solar shines through the clouds. read more

I used this company to have a basis for my solar panels on my new house. They did a great assessment of my usage, roof, and environment. They came to the house after numerous meetings online (COVID) to finalize the project and check if 100% everything was fine. Everything financially was reviewed. Before starting, they took over all the communication with the HOA. Once approved by the HOA, the project was started. I now have 28 beautiful Solar Panels which cover 100% of my yearly usage. Would I recommend Cape Fear Solar Systems: YES. read more

If you want the best product, and the most professional installation, this is the solar company to choose.

By far the smoothest and most professional of any of the work we had done this summer, from sales staff all the way to the installation crew. The entire process was very straight forward no hidden surprises and were extremely efficient getting the job done once things got going. Even though I had done A LOT of research on both the technology and several companies they took time to thoroughly explain the whole process from installation to working with utilities company, which can be a real chore depending on who your power company is, they handled everything. We got a 6.4k system that has been putting out around 750 kw a month since installation in June, thanks to several cloudy days, but this is right on target for the production point I was looking for. A couple things to keep in mind is the North Carolina killed the state solar incentive so there is no longer a state tax credit for instalation costs, but the 30% federal tax credit is still there for a limited time, it helps take the bit out of the upfront cost and there are several options to help reduce the out of pocket costs. Also Cape fear solar offers several options for rebates, one of which is for providing testimonials on thier site, others include posting lawn signs and have a ribbon cutting ceremony. I have not done the testimonial on their site yet so as of writing this have not received any money for posting a review for them, but something to keep in mind when reading customer testimonials. As I mentioned in the beginning compared to other contractors that I have dealt with so far in the area Cape Fear Solar has been the best to deal with. If solar is something you are thinking about it is at least worth it to have a free on site evaluation done, they were very quick to point out ways to save money doing the install without making any shady cuts, just a few extra panels and batteries that for our situation didn't make sense in the long run. Do your own due diligence, but in the end if you are in the Carolinas definitely consider these guys, even though they are based in Wilmington gton their crews travel all over to handle a very large service area and they do it quickly and professionally. read more

We have had our solar for over 5 years. Cape Fear Solar has been responsive after installation to any concerns or issues. Before purchase we encountered other solar companies that had a lot of issues, CFS spot clean! Several neighbors vouched for them. I have since recommended them to any of my friends interested in solar. On average, they gave brought my budget Duke rate down from $190 a month to $70 average. it does vary bt year. read more

Cape Fear Solar installed a solar system manufactured by Sun Power, a US company, in May of 2019. Since we're seniors the ROI decision wasn't as easy as it would have been had we been much younger but we felt that it would be good from an ecology standpoint. Cape Fear did a terrific job of not only explaining our options, costs and financing but on the actual installation as well. The sales consultant had a program where he was able to simulate the optimal power generation for our house and we decided on a configuration that would generate 96% of our power. I spoke to three different solar companies and decided that our best option was a US manufacturer with a local installer and we're happy with our decision. Cape Fear was the only all US option AND the most cost effective as well so that helped out decision. Cape Fear installers were at our house for 2 days and were respectful and thorough. Then Cape Fear's project leader worked with our locale authorities and electric company to ensure that the new electric meter and necessary inspections were performed in a timely manner. I can't say enough good things about Cape Fear Solar and while I would recommend talking to 2 or 3 companies, I would recommend Cape Fear Solar to anyone considering solar as the #1 option. read more

Our initial experience with the sales person was fantastic; he was very educated and personable. The panels were installed in a timely manner. Do your own research on the tax credit and the details of paying off the loan (with 1 yr no interest) as that was not explained to us completely properly. Overall, we are very happy with this company and are actually excited to see what our electric bill is each month. read more
