I went to Cap Wellness Center for a prenatal massage and felt like I was bamboozled. I knew from their site that they lean toward holistic, functional pre and post natal care - fine. But what was unclear is the overt Christian, right-wing agenda I'd be finding when I showed up at the office. My masseuse was wearing a shirt with God written huge across the front, the instrumental music during my massage was all Christian songs (I know, I used to go to church), there was horrifying anti-vax pamphlets at the counter that touted all of the right-wing talking points, not medical research. It felt like a place preying on new moms and people in vulnerable positions trying to just figure out how to do what's best for their babies. It's a disappointment since there's nothing about religion on their site. They should be transparent about who they are and what their agenda is. I will not be going back. read more

If you're looking for a one stop shop while pregnant or early postpartum, Cap Wellness center is the place for you. My favorite chiropractor of over 12 years, Dr Jay works out of the wellness center and he is the best. For adults, kids, infants and pregnancy. I am very picky about chiropractors and personally don't love being 'cracked' all the time, so with Dr Jays technique my body is able to unwind from the inside out, allowing for longer lasting adjustments. Besides amazing chiro, they have massage, acupuncture, birth classes and so much more! read more

This place is the best. My doula recommended some chiropractic care and as it got closer/past my "due" date I dabbled in massage & finally acupuncture. Dr. Jay was awesome. Really attentive and helpful with alignment prepping my body for baby. The massage from summer was so relaxing. Lastly the acupuncture I got dove me into a deep sleep (and amazing night of sleep)...baby arrived the following day with a fast delivery. Front desk was friendly, conversational and helpful. Would highly recommend these care techniques to anyone in the area! read more

Received a call shortly after my last scheduled appointment and went back to CAP to get my massage. Summer was at least 30 minutes late that time but I gave her another chance. I had another massage scheduled for today and Summer no showed again. She's been late starting every massage since my first bad experience and just no showed for what will be my last appointment with her. Highly recommend not booking with her. read more

I really can't say enough good things about this place. Sumer and Hugo will always hold the most special place in my heart. Because of them, their support and childbirth education class, I was able to have the birth of my dreams. I truly love these people. They believed in me when most people in my life did not! Nothing but great things to say about these beautiful people. read more

A Man's Perspective: I can't tell you how grateful I am to have been introduced to Nick (AKA Dr. CAP), Care and Nick's wife Angie. It is like the trifecta-ya-betch-ya. Get in the Cap Wellness conveyor belt, you will be glad you did. Yes, that is right, a conveyer belt. Especially if this is your first, just let go and get on board with the program. Enroll in Care's Hypno-Birthing classes. Find a Doula that plays by Care's rules - Ali Feroah is a friend of the Cap Wellness center and was our Doula, she exceeded our expectation in every way. Lastly, take the in infant CPR class and seal the deal with the Breastfeeding 101 course. I know that sounds like it will blow, but the folks in attendance are cool and Care has employed the most qualified and entertaining instructors around. After switching from UCSD Hillcrest to Scripps Encinitas (solid move), and as an outcome of this we signed up for the hospital tour at Scripps Encinitas prior to the big day. That was a solid decision. I had a good handel in were to park etc. and I was a relief that we had at least some of paper work out of the way prior to showtime. We (primarily my Wife) were faced with some challenges (21hrs of labor), but we were trained in the notion that our bodies grow babies we can bore naturally and ultimately, babies come out. That knowledge empowered my Wife to "surge" through and we now have a natural born, bad ass, 100% breastfed baby boy on our hands. If I could sum up the wellness center in one word, it would be "empowered"! Thanks guys. read more

Cap Wellness Center - This little guy paid more attention in the classes than I did. - Yoga Near Me - Encinitas, California

What a great place for all things pregnancy! This review is specifically for the prenatal massages by Summer. I've had two so far, and they have been by far some of the best massages I've ever had. She asks what areas are giving me issues, and she does an incredible job working/focusing on those areas. (HIPS & GLUTES preggo mamas...yess!) she gets in there & leaves you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated on your way out. One tip I do have, is if you can afford to splurge a little and do the 90 minute over the 60 minute, do it! I did the 60 minute first time around and left wishing I booked the longer massage. Second time around i did 90 minutes and it was amazing. She also uses aromatherapy which was SO SO nice, since some spots don't do that for prenatal massages. I plan to go back to take a CPR class with my husband before baby arrives as well. Looks like they have lots of great offerings for mama/partner! read more

The massage therapist, Summer B. is absolutely the best. In a recent session, she was able to open up some blood flow channels that really helped ease the pain in my knees and legs. AS as guy, I am always skeptical of a female therapist being able to have the strength to penetrate the muscles. She is very intuitive and I was surprised at how deep she was able to get into my muscles. excellent and very professional. read more

I participated in many of the offerings of Cap Wellness Center during and after my pregnancy. The facility offer birth classes, newborn care classes, breastfeeding education and support groups, yoga, chiropractic services, massage and acupuncture. While it is adjacent to and affiliated with Dr. Cap's OB office on the flip side of the office park, anyone can come to the Wellness Center. I'm giving an over all 5 star review, but have broken down all the services I utilized below: Yoga (5 stars): I attended a couple pre-natal yoga classes while I was pregnant. Prior to pregnancy I was an intermediate yoga practicer and had just completed teacher training about two months before I found out I was pregnant. I kept going to my normal yoga studio througout my pregnancy as well. I found the pre-natal classes to be a *little* on the slow side for my liking, but for someone with beginner or no yoga experience, I think they would be very enjoyable. The post-natal baby and me classes were SO FUN. I started going when my baby was 7 weeks old, and went until the end of my maternity leave at 17 weeks. Admittedly, at 7 weeks, it was more of me just nursing my son, but by 10 weeks I was actually able to set him down for more than five minutes. Ashley's yoga classes are legit! Hypnobirthing (4 stars): I totally get that the hypnobirthing program is it's own thing and Cap Wellness Center is just the facility where it occurs, but I don't know how else to leave a review for hypnobirthing. Okay, so, there were 10 couples in my class and 9 of them were having hospital births, yet the course focuses on water births and home births. Information wise, the course was great, but it would have been nice to have a bit more information or videos of hospital births since that's where the majority are having babies! Massage: I tried to book a massage, but my masseuse cancelled same day and never reached out to me to reschedule. They charged me, but did speedily process a refund when I pointed out the error. BOOBs group (5 stars): I started going to the Babies On Our Breasts lactation support group when my baby was around 10 weeks old. My old regret is that I didn't go sooner! Peggy the LC that runs this free group is really great and shares a ton of useful information. I also met a lot of local moms with babies around the same age as mine. I wasn't have any issues with nursing, but it was fun to weigh my baby every week to see his growth. Newborn 101 class (3 stars): Really basic info, and a lot of it was already covered in our hypnobirthing class. Watch a YouTube video on swaddling instead of paying for this class. Also, I asked for a copy of the power point and was turned down. This was the only class for which we didn't get a follow up email or handout. Breastfeeding class (4 stars): A lot of great information! I do recommend this class, but it wasn't very interactive. She also brought a bunch of products with her, but then never talked about any of them. The Cap Wellness Center as a facility is extremely clean and modern. They offer complimentary tea and nutrigrain bars as well. The front desk has always been nothing but pleasant. read more

I've been coming to the Cap Wellness Center now for 4 years. They supported me through the birth of my first daughter in 2016 and recently my second in November 2019. I guess this is sort of a very delayed love letter to the fabulous people who I've been blessed to know all these years. I will start with my most recent experience which prompted me to write this overdue ode. A few weeks ago my then 11 week old stopped taking a bottle. I EBF so the thought that I might not be able to leave her for a few hours scared me. I started googling and low and behold found posts on cranial sacral work to help with this. It was a no brainer. I called and spoke with the always lovely Summer who said without a doubt make an appt with Dr. Kim. While there at our appt it dawned on me that my baby had maybe gone number 2 four times total in 8 weeks all of which I had to "start" with the windi product. I guess I just got used to gas drops gripe water and very bad gas. While I know BF babies often have a little in between time poop gap, even this felt two much. We went home and within a few days she went to the bathroom alone! Yay. Also she has never since refused a bottle- double yay. We went again one week ago, for a one week follow up and my girl has now gone 4 times in a week! Miracle worker. Dr Kim is thorough, fast and my little lady is sleeping better and overall just a happier baby without all her gas build up. This brings me to Dr.Jay. He helped me prepare my body during both my pregnancies to deliver both medication free. My first daughter I "pushed" 4 times for a total of 10 mins and my second I didn't push and she was out in less than a minute from my cervix was ready go time. No exaggerations. I attribute it to my pelvic being perfectly lined up. In addition he helped greatly with my round ligament pain and basically any other aches and pains I had during both pregnancies. And last but certainly not least at all, the fabulous Maring. I spent from weeks 28 pregnant and up in her acupuncture care relaxing, preparing for my first birth and from 8 weeks and up with my second. She helped me with my terrible all day nausea, my allergies that were raging during pregnancy, my TMJ, labor boost and overall just helped me gain a sense of peace and calm. I looked forward to our weekly chats and my time spent with her always. Its an amazing feeling to know that she will be able to help me with not only pregnancy issues but basically anything I might need a little tweaking with. Double bonus again, I always have a great experience waiting (if I do) with Jill behind the desk, who helps run this office. She and I always have great chats and its clear she is invaluable to the operation. We're not sure about a third child yet, but if and when I will look forward to the stellar all around care I know I'd receive! Thank you to everyone. read more

Can not say enough great things about this place. I did many classes and hypno birthing class as well. All amazing. I recently went to a diastasis recti class. Really great. This place allows women to get legitimate information on all the changes happening before and after pregnancy. Brittney is AMAZING! I had been contemplating pelvic floor therapy for a few months but was not looking forward to finding a physical therapist. My friend told me about her experience with Brittney & I had to go. Technically she was an out of network provider for my insurance, but it was more than worth the money! From the first session, she helped me figure out what was going on in my body and taught me techniques to help heal it. I love her holistic mindset and the knowledge she imparted alongside the physical treatment. I highly recommend her if you're looking for any type of pelvic therapy. Women, we don't have to live with leaking bladders post baby, or other injuries. It may be common but it doesn't have to be your normal! Brittney is your girl in SoCal to help resolve those issues. read more

Cap wellness has so much to offer (really anyone) but mainly pregnant and postpartum mamas! I attended the prenatal yoga here and loved it. Each instructor has their own unique style which is great so that each class isn't so repetitive. I did it all the way up until the end of my pregnancy and found it quite beneficial. In addition, My husband and I took the hypnobirthing class with Care Messer here. It was five, 3-hour classes and definitely worth taking. We learned so much about the birthing process as a whole, as well as the hypnobirthing technique. Care is very informative and not to mention HILARIOUS!!!! She makes the class so much fun!!! (Even the dads enjoyed it!) If you're thinking about taking this class I would make SURE to take it with Care! Lastly, the wellness center offers acupuncture and the day my labor started Dr. Cap suggested that I "jump start" it by seeing Maring Higa, the acupuncturist there. She was so great! She asked a lot of questions and focused the session on inducing labor. She also taught my husband a few acupressure points to address once at home. It was relaxing and VERY effective! It definitely worked and I would recommend seeing Maring to anyone who needs to get "things going" or is looking for any kind of relief. She is very sweet and definitely knows her stuff!!! Thank you!!! All in all, I LOVE the wellness center and everyone who works there. It's like one big family!!! read more

I went today for a pre-labor massage with Summer and I'm so glad I did! I was met with a warm welcome and she knew exactly what my body needed. I was really glad that there was a pregnancy pillow for me to lay face down in, which made my massage even more comfortable. I like a firm massage and she was very strong and did a very good job. I'd recommend her prenatal massages any day! read more

I found CAP wellness center after my prior prenatal yoga class option in Del Mar closed. I mainly come here for their prenatal yoga classes (and am looking forward to postnatal classes to get me back into shape!!). Their yoga room is small, but the biggest class I've been to has been 5 women (usually it's just 2-3). All of their teachers are great and make adjustments as needed to your ever-changing pregnancy needs. They're well equipped with mats, bolsters, blocks, straps, etc. Signing up is (relatively) easy online - it can be a little hard to get to the actual schedule online, but I've learned the system by now. My husband and I also took the Newborn 101 and the Comfort Measures for Birth classes. Initially we came here because we couldn't fit the hospital classes into our busy physician schedules. (Most of the other clients seem to be patients of Dr. Cap's). The classes we took were perfect, to the point, and exactly what we needed for the time frame we had. Hopefully they'll be enough when the time comes! I look forward to coming back to their postnatal classes - I just wish the traffic up the 5 wasn't so bad on weekdays!! read more

My wife and I took part in the Hypno-Birthing course here. It was fantastic. The course proved to be priceless for our birthing experience. The instructor was phenomenal. We were able to implement everything that we learned through the course and it was an amazing experience. I would highly recommend the class. The facilities at Cap Wellness were absolutely beautiful, clean and inviting. read more

I smile each time I think about "my tribe" at CAP Wellness. Going into this experience as a first time single mom, I'm not going to lie, it was scary! I had so many questions and didn't know where to find all the answers. Who could I rely on? Who could I trust to help me make this experience the best? I sure did find this and more at CAP Wellness. I love walking into the building and seeing my friends there. Care Messer is a rockstar! I wanted to switch doulas at about 36 weeks into my pregnancy and Care totally hooked it up! She is the doula matching queen. Hypnobirthing classes with her are raw, real, hysterical and super informative. I loved every class. I was worried about going to them as a single mom but once I got there I was totally at easy. I knew I was in great hands. The Newborn 101 class and Breastfeeding 101 class where so helpful. All the classes offered are top notch with amazing staff. They follow up with you before and after the classes to make sure you are getting what you need and feel completely confident. You need to go here and experience it for yourself. You WILL fall in love with everyone there, I promise. read more

Yelp says I have checked in here 37 times- that's because I work here, so maybe I am cheating with this review BUUUUUT-- I am not being biased when I say we have the best people here. THE BEST! Maring is our acupuncturist, and she has helped me with multiple issues. Jay is our chiropractor, and he helps me continue the work I have to do. Sumer at the front is a beautiful face to come into work to, she knows everything- my work life would not be so streamlined without her. Care keeps us all moving forward and connected, and if you are lucky enough to get a face to face with her, THEN YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH! Plus, if you are a patient with Dr. Capetanakis, you have the luxury of travelling between his office and our wellness center easily. Stop by and say hello, take a look around- it's beautiful inside! read more

Dr. Jay Warren saved me! In the beginning of my third trimester I started having aching in my pelvis and way having difficulty sleeping because I was in so much pain. It got to the point I couldn't walk. I panicked and went into to my OBGYN. The baby was fine and healthy but I still couldn't walk with out extreme pain. My doctor shrugged it off as the baby putting pressure on my pelvis. My Doula and friend told me I had to go see "Dr. Jay". Thank god for Dr. Jay Warren! After the first visit I was 60% better. After the second visit I was 98% better. I don't think I could have managed without his treatment. Dr. Jay Warren is extremely knowledgeable, very educated and kind. His services are expensive but worth it. I will tell every pregnant woman I know to go see him if they are experiencing pain. read more

I have been seeing Maring for Acupuncture since 2013 after my second miscarriage. She took the time to get to know me and what my individual needs were. We were successful in staying pregnant on our 3 attempt after working with Maring for a few months to make sure my body was in a good place and to successfully maintain a pregnancy. I have Hashimoto's and tailored her care plan to this as well. We successfully became and stayed pregnant on our 3rd try with our now 2 year old daughter. In 2015 we wanted to add to our family and found that again staying pregnant was an issue for me, after my first miscarriage after trying again I was back with Maring adding acupuncture to my health care again. I had followed her over to Cap Wellness Center. We worked on my health and I had again a miscarriage, but with some digging Maring pinpointed a possible cause and also suggested I see if Dr. Cap. She suggested he and his staff could be a good addition to my medical care team. I consulted with Dr. Cap and he listened and made some referrals for me and we made a plan for my fertility, health, and other needs. It is a brilliant collaboration between different disciplines of health care I have been lucky to have, and have access to other types of care if I need it. I am sitting here at 39 weeks pregnant with our second child, and I am deeply grateful for the care Maring has given me for the last 3 years as a part of my health care team. She is amazing, caring, open, and professional. I truly believe if she had not been a part of my health care team, I would not be a mommy. And, that I am truly thankful for. read more

1 Star because 0 isn't an option. Only go here if you want to file all your claims and work with your insurance company on your own. They are lazy and wont do any of that for you. I took the 5 week hypnobirthing class with Care Messer, breastfeeding with Deb C, and newborn care 101 with Jen Graham. Each class was absolutely incredible! Before I found my way to the cap wellness center I was terrified of birth. I left those classes feeling confident, knowledgable, and most of all - at peace. Cap Wellness is an incredible resource for expecting families and it helped me achieve a sense of calm that I never imagined. Thank you ALL for everything! I highly recommend taking these three classes when you are pregnant. Also, get a doula (I chose Jen Graham), and go to prenatal yoga with Holly on Sundays! There is a reason that all of these services are offered and I truly believe you can't be TOO supported. I'm so glad I found this place! I haven't had the best pregnancy so far, but I've been able to manage thanks to the great team here at Cap Wellness Center. Soon, I'm going to start taking some classes, but I'm sure they will be great! Everyone is really friendly and knowledgeable, great support doing this big time in our lives, thank you! read more

Where do I begin? Cap Wellness Center is part of an amazing partnership of doctors, nurses, midwives, doulas and amazing individuals who are passionate and caring about the birth process. They take the time to get to know you as a person/family. There is such a positive energy as soon as you walk in the door and you are greeted by Sumer who has so much energy and is awesome to talk too. You will then meet Care and let me tell you, she is one of those people in your life you meet you instantly gravitate too and want them to be in your lives forever. She was such a tremendous help with the entire process from the moment we met her. We were fortunate enough to attend a couple classes at Cap Wellness. Hypnobirthing and Breastfeeding 101 and I can be honest being a first time father both of these classes we key into a natural birth and knowing how to support Tiffany during breast feeding and labor. We were also able to spend time getting Tiffany adjusted with Dr Jay and he even adjusted our new love Abi. HypnoBirthing was fantastic and we were able to have Ashley and Britney give us so much information over the class duration. There is so much valuable information to help not only the mothers but our role as fathers during this process. I know for a fact if we had no taken advantage of this class we would not have been able to push through the surges and have the birth we wanted. The breathing and learning positions for comfort during labor were key. We had so many different techniques and learned which ones work for us. I can honestly say our class was fun and you will leave feeling great about the time you spent educating yourself. Breastfeeding 101 was awesome! I cannot stress how important this class is if you want to breastfeed your new bundle of joy. Our baby lost 9.8% of her birth weight before we left the hospital and the on staff pediatrician was concerned and mentioned formula. We were not buying it. We knew how to breastfeed from the class and focused on the latch and positions to make Abi feed correctly. She was 8lbs and 9oz and went down to 7lbs 11oz when we left the hospital. 11 days later she weighed 8 lbs 13oz. Without a doubt in our mind this class was a big reason for our success in getting Abi back above her birth weight. Dr. Jay was absolutely fantastic and helped get Tiffany adjusted and aligned for a smooth birth. She carried tension in a couple spots in neck and lower back and Dr. Jay was able to work them out and align her correctly. He took his time with us and was gentle with the adjustments. He did a scan on Tiffany's back that was awesome to see and understand how the tension areas can affect labor. I highly recommend going and getting adjusted if you feel any tension in your body. We then took Abi to see him within 7 days of birth. He checked over her entire upper body and gave her one little gentle adjustment. He was extremely careful and gentle with her. Note, this is not your typical cracking adjustment so you don't have to be scared of those type adjustments affecting you or your baby. Overall the Cap Wellness center is a fantastic place to educate yourself and your family. They have the team to get your mind, body and soul in the right place to support the birth you want. I cannot praise the people there enough and will forever stay in touch with them. Tiffany is planning on going to BOOB's. Yup, you read that right. Babies on our Boobs. I'll leave you with this - Education is the key to life in so many ways. Educating yourself is the most important step to have the birth you desire. This will set your family up for success and you will leave Cap Wellness with that and so much more. You will leave with an extended family. Cheers! read more

Dr. Cap's new wellness center is beautiful and the practitioners top-notch! I recently scheduled appointments with Maring (acupuncture) and Dr. Jay (chiropractic) to address some SI/sciatic pain that I have been struggling with. I feel better already! I left Maring's appointment completely blissed and relaxed. She was gentle, knowledgeable, and I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Jay's low-impact chiropractic technique was even more effective than the 'one-size-fits-all' approach that I have been accustomed to. I felt like his treatment was tailored to my needs specifically, and I walked away feeling balanced and aligned. Care, the director, is an amazing resource when it comes to birth! read more

I went to Cap Wellness Center for a drop-in yoga session. I had never been to the center before and didn't know what to expect. EVERYONE was genuinely very friendly and welcoming. And the space is both beautiful and relaxing, like that of a ritzy spa but minus the snooty employees. As for the yoga session, I took the pre-natal class with Cara. She was amazing! Honestly. At the beginning of the class Cara took the time to ask each student what she wanted to work on and customized the class to suit our goals and individualized needs. She pointed out plenty of tips and poses that would help in preparation for birthing. Who wouldn't want that? She also gave the same kind of care and attention to the non-natal students. What else can I say? I can't wait to come back. read more

Cutest place ever. Care is amazing and so are the classes they offer. My husband and I took the hypnobirthing class and are so glad we did. It was also nice being able to do the class with my husband and learning about birth together which made the birthing experience of my daughter a bond between the two of us as well. I love cap wellness center! From the services to the amazing people that work there. I felt lucky having these type of resources at my finger tips from the moment I got pregnant with our first child. We took the hypno birthing class with Care. It was the most inspiring and fun birthing class and wished that everyone could have an experience like this... We also signed up for newborn 101, breastfeeding 101, and infant CPR. All of these Classes were extremely helpful and knowledgable. But once I became 4 days late I knew acupuncture was a natural way to help induce labor. So it was suggested I give it a try. I'm glad I did because I went into labor that night!!! I will add though that I went in having mild contractions that I have had many times before so I felt more then prepped and primed for the appointment.
