Grilled chicken
James F.

I'm a regular here almost everyday for my morning cafe con leche and pastry . Love the people here very attentive . Well today I changed it up and tried there grilled chicken with rice n beans and fries , should have gotten the plantains . But everything was delicious snd a great value at $10.99, will definitely try there other lunch menu selections .

Seating overlooking Hallandale Blvd

Right off Hallandale beach Blvd, this CAO has a 24 hour drive thru . There is decent seating inside and selection isn't as big as Fort Lauderdale location but the quality is the same as other location . CAO is great if you're looking for good priced Cuban pastries, coffees, and sandwiches. CAO, which stands for Cuban American original, is now franchised and in several locations around south Florida. Most of the staff here only speak Spanish but thankfully they have a lot of labels and photos of their food.

My mom brought me here and I loved it. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Great place for breakfast. The scrambled eggs took a while. Egg sándwiches were quick. Good coffee. Great value for what you are getting. Got the flan cheesecake...it was on point I will be coming back. We Need this in Maryland!!

Drive through

Pleasantly surprised. CAO provided delicious, pastries, and colada. I was skeptical about this establishment, because of years growing up on these types of items. I don't like visiting places that don't prepare them well. CAO pleasantly surprised us. We ordered a guava cheese pastry, a spinach empanada, and a colada. The colada was absolutely delicious and prepared exactly as we wanted it. We always ordered less sugar than how cafe's normally prepare it . The spinach empanada was stuffed as it should be. I hate ordering empanadas and you're left feeling deflated because they're only quarter way filled. But not here, it was nice and full. As was the guava and cheese pastry. Both items were filled evenly and fresh. We went through the drive through which provided speedy service where we also found out that it is open 24 hours, perfect for the area. If you're reading this and are in the area it wouldn't be a visit wasted. Side note , check out the attached photos ... but don't mind my nails lol had to head to the shop. Jajaja enjoy!

Open on Thanksgiving and saved us from not having a dessert at the party! They had tons of great options so we went with a pumpkin cheesecake! I'm sure it will be a hit.

The wrong sandwhich and barely any egg. Just a pure lack of caring. They they expect a tip at a drive thru

Asked very clearly for a breakfast croissant sandwhich. They asked ham or bacon I said ham. They act like their take your order then give you whatever they have sitting around leftover. When I got to work it's a tostada sandwhich with bacon egg and no cheese. Clearly there is an issue in the kitchen or with the people taking the orders. Almost like they do it on purpose cause they don't like certain people.. I ask for jugo de manzana and I get orange juice then tell them I asked for apple juice and they have some attitude.. even when you speak Spanish if they don't like you they don't like you.. the ambiance I wouldn't know because I don't go inside

Food was good as always and the drive thru line moved swiftly . Everything I wanted was available and very tasty ! The only issue was that the bagel sandwich was fairly large and should have been cut in half - otherwise all good on this visit - back soon !

Desserts

Sandwich's are great. Cuban sandwich was perfect. Got a piece of carrot cake. Delish! I will try the breakfast tomorrow.

Finally checked this place out. It's your Cuban bakery, which you can drop in, grab a good sandwich, breakfast lunch and dinner. Pick up an assortment of pastries for the office or any occasion. I love that they have variation. The place is very clean and well maintained. Super fast service. Done in or take out, they offer both. Downside this is wayyyyy over priced for your typical Cuban spot. When a 25 piece assortment is usually $8 dollars his places charges $13. Holy smokes. I get the cost of location and inflation but come on. The glaze on the pastelitos were a bit much but honestly that's just personal preference. I love that they do their own thing. This month they are exploring lobster croquettes... yum! I didn't try it right now because I'm in route to the beach but I'll be back to give an update. #thankmelater

Avoid the drive thru. Only had one car in front of us and had to bail after 10 min of no progress.

Picadilly is a chain of cafeteria style restaurants found mainly in the south and Gulf Coast. The…read morefirst Piccadilly Cafeteria opened in 1932 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Picadilly was bought by T.H. "Tandy" Hamilton in 1944. In 1988 they purchased another cafeteria chain, Morrison's Cafeterias which was founded by J. A. Morrison in 1920. At their height, there was 270 restaurants but poor management led to bankruptcy in 2003 and again in 2012 and they were sold off to Yucaipa Companies and Diversified Investment Management Group. By 2012 they were down to only 41 locations. South Florida had two Piccadilly Cafeterias, one in Hialeah at the Westland Mall and on the Palm Springs Mile. Both are now closed butthere is a Facebook page dedicated their memory. Today there are only two locations left in Florida, Jacksonville and this one in Hollywood! I couldn't believe there was still one left here and I made it a point to stop by for lunch.' As soon as I walked in I was flooded with nostalgia. Even the decor looks the same as I remembered. You grab a try and slide it down the line telling them what you want added to your plate. Meals include a protein, two sides, and a bread. You can add more sides for an additional price. They also have a selection of desserts of cakes, pies, and cobblers. Expect to find homestyle dishes like chicken, teriyaki chicken, fish, and fried shrimp. Vegetarians can order the four vegetable plate. I had the roast beef drenched in au jus, carrot souffle, and broccoli rice au gratin. It was all as good as I remembered, especially the decadent carrot souffle which is a dessert in itself. I just found a copycat recipe for the Picadilly carrot souffle and it is getting added to the Easter dinner menu. So many of our memories are associated with food and this was like a warm hug from the past. I started to tell a server how excited I was that there was still a Picadilly left and she said honey we hear that all the time. I gather a lot of their diners come here for the memories. So many of us grew up eating at cafeteria style restaurants with beloved family members no longer here. Eating here is a way to connect to the past. The restaurant was filled on the week day I visited so hopefully they will be here for a long time to come. I am already planning a visit back with a family member who is going to be elated to come here.
