I stopped in for a quick pick me up and indulged in Cuban coffee; a specifically ordered a cortadito and it came out just the way I like it strong and low sugar. The convenience, speed and price point are all hard to be in. The customer service was the cherry on top. When I walked in, it was graded it felt like I was being welcomed home by familiar faces No, I took my order to go inside. Looks very welcoming with plenty of seating area and a lot of ambient light. I absolutely love CAO ! It's my favorite place to come to for a late night cortadito and some snacks. Food is always fresh, cooked to order. This last visit last week I legit came two times in one day for a mamey shake. It was DELICIOUS!! I love the drive thru as it is open 24hrs, every time I visit I am always out eating late so when I get back to town CAO is always open for those late night cravings. Right off Hallandale beach Blvd, this CAO has a 24 hour drive thru . There is decent seating inside and selection isn't as big as Fort Lauderdale location but the quality is the same as other location . CAO is great if you're looking for good priced Cuban pastries, coffees, and sandwiches. CAO, which stands for Cuban American original, is now franchised and in several locations around south Florida. Most of the staff here only speak Spanish but thankfully they have a lot of labels and photos of their food. read more

Pleasantly surprised. CAO provided delicious, pastries, and colada. I was skeptical about this establishment, because of years growing up on these types of items. I don't like visiting places that don't prepare them well. CAO pleasantly surprised us. We ordered a guava cheese pastry, a spinach empanada, and a colada. The colada was absolutely delicious and prepared exactly as we wanted it. We always ordered less sugar than how cafe's normally prepare it . The spinach empanada was stuffed as it should be. I hate ordering empanadas and you're left feeling deflated because they're only quarter way filled. But not here, it was nice and full. As was the guava and cheese pastry. Both items were filled evenly and fresh. We went through the drive through which provided speedy service where we also found out that it is open 24 hours, perfect for the area. Asked very clearly for a breakfast croissant sandwhich. They asked ham or bacon I said ham. They act like their take your order then give you whatever they have sitting around leftover. When I got to work it's a tostada sandwhich with bacon egg and no cheese. Clearly there is an issue in the kitchen or with the people taking the orders. I love that they have variation. The place is very clean and well maintained. Super fast service. Done in or take out, they offer both. Downside this is wayyyyy over priced for your typical Cuban spot. When a 25 piece assortment is usually $8 dollars his places charges $13. Holy smokes. I get the cost of location and inflation but come on. The glaze on the pastelitos were a bit much but honestly that's just personal preference. I love that they do their own thing. Never dine here at night! I ordered a Pan Con Bistec sandwich and received a dry sandwich with the majority of the main garnishings missing. No lettuce, no condiments, just a dry steak. What's more is that I asked the employee for extra mustard and she had agreed. Yet, despite even specifying that request [which she had agreed to], I received an incomplete order. I found out after driving home and had to unfortunately have my dinner plan ruined by this lackluster sandwich. It is a shame because I even left them a tip for their drive-thru service, so I overpaid for a stale steak on crummy bread with the majority of the garnishings missing. I've had hits and misses here. The drive through usually is quick although one time a purchased an empanada that was still frozen in the Middle. I usually love this place but lately, they are always out of Chicken Croquettas. It's very 50/50 and I only come in the mornings. This morning I went and that's what I ordered and they gave me ham. I checked my receipt before I bit into it and I saw so I went back inside to ask them to change it. When I came in, they didn't have any chicken and that's why they gave me ham. There are a lot of people who do not eat pork and I am one of them. It's really upsetting that I almost ate because they switched it without telling me. It definitely makes me worry about trusting what they are giving me now because a lot of the food looks similar before you bite into it. Anyway, I'm sad and disappointed because this was my weekly spot for my abuela and I but we will go somewhere else now. Last time the cheese and guava tequeños we ordered tasted a little old and not fresh so that was disappointing. Do not waste $40.00 to buy their Bom Bom Cake. It looks like the Bomb Cake that BJ's discontinued but the recipe is nothing like the real deal. We loved the mousse layer and the yummy Grenache chocolate in the Bomb but the Bom Bom cake had a thin layer of icing between layers. Publix would have been a better choice or just buying a boxed mix would have been better. The other thing is when my husband initially saw the cake, he was told it was $28.00. That was more than BJ's price but since we couldn't get it there anymore, we thought we would surprise our son-in-law with this for his birthday. The price was rung up at $36.99 and they add a surcharge for using a credit card. This was such a waste of money all around. read more

They have tiramisu cakes for $12.50!!! But I wanted to go for the different types for every to chose a favorite or share. We got food as well but the boys devoured that before I choice show, seems like they enjoyed it all. We picked on the Papa Rellena and Empanada while waiting for the fresh food .
