I worked in Food service here for a very short time. I'll start off by saying that Transportation is very competent & this review has nothing to do with that department. I drove the school busses for 7 years there. That being said. The Cafeteria & Food Service started my pay off at $12.50 an hour. The Food service manager higher ups would not even negotiate this pay with me, knowing that I had worked in Transportation for 7 years and I made well over $18 an hour there. So they definitely don't respect your experience or time served there in other departments. That being said here is my review of Canyon ISD as a Food Service Worker : If I could give them zero starts I'd definitely do that. From day one it is blatant favoritism, cheap insults as if I was a student there and extreme unprofessionalism from management to staff. Very hostile work environment. No PTO. No sick days. No breaks except 15 minutes towards the end of the work day. After we have already been working on our feet for over 5 hours. Favoritism is played all work day and if you do not immediately kiss their ass they run you into the ground all day. They don't give you enough hours as well. I got maybe 5 and a half hours per day if I was lucky. Then- on top of all of that- I was told about an issue I had already taken care of however one of my coworkers then made it the manager's issue because I told her she was not my boss. I stated a fact there and then the cook decides to jump in and insist that anything her or my coworkers tell me is part of my personal rules!!! So then I take the issue to management. I think you can guess how that went? I was told that it was my fault and that I needed to go home & when I tried to return to work I was told that I was let go. If you value yourself and your skills DO NOT work for theses incompetent, and mentally unstable people. Please!!
