I followed a recommendation to Prock Automotive and pulled into this unassuming shop (my favorite…read morekind) in my well-used 5-year-old Subaru with squeaky brakes that were taking longer to stop the car then they should. Soon they called with the honest news - my brakes, though worn were not in immediate need of replacement. I asked for an estimate anyway. The price for the full job on all four corners was reasonable. So, I gave the go ahead and the work was completed quickly. Now, here's why a good shop merits this good review. Any work done by humans with human made parts can have flaws. After a few long trips with my new and better stopping brakes, I noticed the front left wheel was dusty and the rotor was wearing unevenly. I took it back by the shop for them to check out. What impressed me is that they made no excuse or gave me the line you usually get from some shops and dealers, "it's normal". Instead they, said, "we'll check it out." Check it out they, did and found that the one pad wasn't doing it's job, so instead of just patchy work, they replaced the pads with another brand and resurfaced the rotor at no charge. Now, my SUV stops more quickly and smoothly than when new. I really appreciated how they stand behind their work (or, in the case of brakes, they stand "in front" of their work). Like me, they see auto repair as a bit of a art form and honor what they do. Now, I don't have to stand on my brake pedal to stop my Subaru, but I do stand by my recommendation of this shop. Sure, I could've found a discount repair, but it is worth it to me to have a good shop like this do good work. Thanks Prock Automotive. They continued to squeak, and eventually I had to bring them to Scotts to repair correctly. It was a lesson for me - next time I come here first! So far this year they have done 4 repairs for me, and given me another 2-3 estimates. They are fast, they can drop me off and pick me up, and most importantly, I believe them when they tell me what is wrong, and how much it will cost.
